There've been some odd iPhone colors over the years- which is the strangest? And, follow-up, what's your personal favorite iPhone color? I honestly am not sure if I could name just one, but I did always love the 'coral' iPhone XR.
My favorites are the Gold iPhone XS and blue iPhone 15. Maybe also the current pink. Least favorite are probably some like iPhone 13 Blue, a few of the greens.
BY far my favorite color so far was the 13 pro in Alpine Green. If not for some security updates and the USB C on the 15 Pro, I would still have that 13 pro in Alpine Green. Apple needs to bring that color back.
I think the red iPhone 12 was pretty strange , it was red but like a child’s plastic tricycle that’s been sunbleached type of red. It was unsettling to look at for some reason lol
Midnight Green for life. One of the best greens I've seen in the market, but maybe a slightly greener tone to really get that army, Master Chief isk green
It's beautiful, had the 11 Pro but when I got my 13 Pro it was sold out and I had to settle for Sierra Blue. I actually like it as much nearly if not more but I will always wish... lol
green is my favourite colour and I like it. I hate this company which causes millions of iDevices to be scrapped because of activation lock, management lock and parts pairing not to include a fricking green colour.
For me the plastic is a problem because it scratches very easily, meanwhile putting glass and metal in the same situation for longer and it would be almost pristine
I’m more of a android/Samsung user but the titanium gray iPhone 15 pro is one of the most beautiful piece of hardware that I’ve ever seen, along with apples product red and their basic black
One thing I always thought would be sweet is for the apple logo to light up and have customization options. Like select colors for certain notifications, or none at all if you prefer. Maybe it does like a green outline of the logo when it begins charging and a red pulse when it's at a low enough percentage. Maybe it's not quite possible right now, but just something I thought would be awesome to see 🍎
it wasn't quite that detailed but i'm pretty sure i remember seeing someone who was able to make it glow white by jailbreaking(?) it a few years ago, i don't think i watched the full video though so idk how they did it
I've always hated the black and red combo. it seems to be a pretty controversial opinion for some reason. I never liked the color red at all though, but something about the red and white combo is amazing to me
Finally, someone who understands me. I think MKBHD kinda popularized “matte black everything” and red/black combo, but I never really liked that combo, red or black in general, or even blue (we got so many blue iPhones these past few years it’s getting boring) But I really love that matte aluminum red with contrasting shiny silver logo look on the 7, and the bright, light front. That’s how iPod touch were anyway.
It’s interesting to me how many people hated that combo. Every red iPod nano featured a white click wheel. The red iPod touch had white glass. Literally the only time Apple ever did a red and black combo before the iPhone 8 was the U2 iPod. I’d argue the red and white combo was more in line with everything else the company made.
I used a red iPhone 7 for years. Of the different iPhone's I used, it was easily my favorite design. Also, I loved the white front with the silver ring around the home button, I still think it looks better than the black front ever did. I'll never understand the hate it got.
I LOVE the red iPhones. I got a red XR first and got a red iPhone 13 later. It’s such a rich and vibrant red color. I’ll miss having a brightly colored phone when I upgrade.
When I was a repair technician for a franchise, I used to offer custom re-housing as a service, and one of my specialties was rehousing black iPhone 7's into Product Red housings well before the iPhone 8 got announced that way. That and the black and gold 5s/6s swaps (the 5s required swapping the rear glass plates over as well) were some of my best sellers. We'd get folks from our competition across the street bring in Asurion devices that were missing half the shields and screws and sometimes had the wrong screws, they'd drop it off in that poorly state and an hour later it was back exactly as Apple intended when it left the factory, only with more customization (for instance, one customer also wanted black volume and power switches and mute toggle in his Product Red build, and I used those same red buttons on a different jet black build). I'd even change out the charging ports too so all the colors were themed the same.
I loved that product red with the red bezels, it was awesome. My favorite colors was blue 5C, blue XR and Sierra Blue 13 Pro. And I really want bright pro iPhone, maybe event product red. And for me, the weirdest was coral on the XR, I loved that one too, but it was oddly specific and not common anywhere honestly.
My childhood best friend used to have the rose gold 6s and I was always so jealous of her because pink was my favorite color at the time but I was stuck with my hand-me-down silver 5s that my mom gave me when she upgraded lol
had the 4 in white, 5S in gold, 8 in white, 11 Pro in midnight green, 13 Pro in white and now the 15 Pro in natural titanium. One of my coworkers had the 7 in red.
I might go so far as to say that the Red iPhone 7 is the only iPhone ever to look slightly off. Closest thing to an actual bad design the iPhone has ever had. I don’t exactly love all of the other colours and designs that Apple have put out over the years, but that iPhone 7 is the only one that makes me do a double take. No other design had such a colour clash or inconsistency.
Am I the only person who LOVES the iPhone 5c? That blue shade is immaculate. After the 5c I had the 6s and the 7 but i'm still on the blue Xr because i'm having a little bit of a hard time finding the perfect new blue shade.. .12? too dark, 13? too weird.. 14? NOT BAD but the phone is more expensive and it's the same 13 chip so in my opinion not worth buying.. the 15 with the new dinamic island being on it without being the pro model... I was excited but that VERY LIGHT shade threw me off.. I was hoping for a more vivid blue shade like the 5c and the xr... i like the 13 pro sierra blue... still thinking which one i'll get by the end of this year.
they were the worst, like kids' crayon colors... the combination of the garish paired with the plastic was really bad. If you have plastic you either want to hide it with boring white or black, or do something plastic is good at like neon in your face colors.
My guess is that the front was white because back when the iPhone 7 released, white phones were seen as more modern. If you look at iPhones ads from the time, the black color or space grey almost never appeared
The Red iPhone 8 Plus with the glass back (and home button!) is the best iPhone ever. The Red iPhone 7 Plus had the aluminum back. The Red on the 8 was also deeper on the glass than the 7 on the aluminum.
I think the jet black 7 was weirder because it was never repeated. It was the only time apple released an iphone in two variations of the same colour (or at least as much as I can remember)
Did you know Apple QUIETLY changed the tone of the Rose Gold phones??? They used to be pink but after the iPhone 8 they all turned a lighter shade and have been that way since. It's the WEIRDEST change they've done. Edit; I have the red iPhone 7 and 7 Plus both 128GB but I am glad I have them. That color only lived for 6 months, same as the red iPhone 8. Don't understand the short run of these. They could've kept selling for a whole year and half and not such a short time.
I had the product red iPhone 7 Plus. It did seem weird how the white screen was really out there. They should’ve at least made the silver ring into red. But it was a cool phone to have.
I wish they would go back to offering product red for the flagship phones, it is a bit annoying as I have a red apple watch and would love to have them match.
I think it’s difficult to define what a “weird” color is, but I feel like the regular 15s or the regular iPhone 11s probably were some of the most unusual version of the color they were trying to replicate. Maybe even the purple 14 Pro was a weird purple
i wanted to buy iPhone 7 Plus in Product Red color a few years ago, but i couldn’t find it at the reasonable price, sadly. i really love this color because of white glass at front, it looks really great
It is pretty funny that you say that the iPhone 7 Plus PRODUCT RED is such a strange and rare item. I had one that I daily drove since 2017/18. I just listed it on eBay this week. It is the one that I used to call Dave Ramsey on November 2nd - the call that blew up over 8% stuff. I was curious why the price shot up so fast. Now I know. Thank you!
I remember someone at my school had a jet black 7plus, i think the weirdest thing about it is the indent of the apple logo on the back, i dont know if any other have that, but i'd love one to match my black macbook
Didn’t the iPod touch 5th gen come with a red back and white front? They likely based it on that color scheme and didn’t want to make a separate white screen with red ring just for one model so they just used the white iPhones display assembly instead
I really dig the iPhone 6s Rose Gold, the iPhone 8 Gold, 13 Pro Sierra Blue and the crazy 5c colours. I might be biased because these colours have all been owned by my family :)
I would call the strangest iPhone colour that orange iPhone XR. Every other colour worked but that one was just strange but like you said, I did appreciate that it was going to a good cause.
We also never got orange-ish iPhones ever since. We had some kind of variation of all 6 shades from the old rainbow Apple logo; green, yellow, (orange), red, purple, blue…
Interesting pick! To me it's a close one between - Any iPhone 5c. These came out as a shock when they released! - Coral iPhone XR. I don't think we'll ever see this color again and it was very clear that it was a one off. Did you notice that it's the only orange iPhone? - The green iPhone 11 Pro because it started the Pro line color tradition and it single-handedly made me like the color green 😂 Overall, I think the Coral iPhone XR is the most unique iPhone color. If I were into collecting, I'd definitely try to get one.
in late 2013 i got a gold housing for my iphone5 and installed a fresh battery and screen and ios and it ran 2years without slowing down happy times back in the dday
I miss the iPhone 11 Pro. I don't know what it is about it, whether its the size or the feel of the rounded edges in the hand. I just want that iPhone but with updated hardware and a newer 48mp camera with ProRaw and ProRes, 120Hz and higher peak brightness and that would be perfect. Even with thinner bezels Apple could make the 5.8 inch display in a much smaller lighter weight footprint and dimensions. The Space black with the stainless steel on 14 Pro is pretty nice though.
some android phones have used sapphire and ceramic but people didn't care about that. instead they liked what apple claims with their cool naming. an anodized jet black body sound better than a ceramic back
Personally I love white iPhones as it looks very futuristic and I know it’s rather boring but something about like a white 4s is very clean and honestly the 4 is the iphone has the best aged design out of all of the iPhones.

Gold iPhone 11 Pro and Any green iPhone
Hi😊😊😊
I expected the Coral iPhone XR. Thats one of the weirdest one. The purple 12 models had also a strange but a nice color back then.
That about deep purple iPhone 14
Something about to the bright neon 5Cs will always have a special place in my heart
and the cases so you can make color combos that was peak apple imo.
frutiger aero
@@HXISEfruitiger aero is heavily based in maximalism and mostly a ux thing, doesn’t really fit with the 5c’s minimalist design
Jet Black is still my favorite iPhone color of all time (had an iPhone 7 Plus in that color). I wish the next iPhone would be in that color.
The iPhone 15 Black is pretty dark. Wished somebody made a video comparing the black colors of the iPhone 7 & 15.
Black isn't a colour
I think the weirdest iPhone color is the product red iPhone 12 it's not even red. It's like salmon.
The iPhone 12 is my favorite notch-era iPhone in terms of looks and color options. But that salmon red always pissed me off. At least we got purple.
The blue colour is definitely up there it was so vibrant @@giovanigeorgis3848

Get your -mom- self an iPhone
I think I’m one of the only few people that actually like the red and white
same the white bezels were classic, i think they look so nice
I loved that too
I liked it too 🙂
i think it matches the PRODUCT RED branding more imo. i did like the black front of the iphone 8 with the red but the white feels right idk
ewww
The final gen iPod touch I bought and have sealed is red with the white front!
17 years ago man what an era it was

Red and white iPhone 7 kinda reminds me to Nokia 5300 XpressMusic

The way it shimmers differently with the light 🤌

Awful take theres plenty red iphones, you have purple and you go with one of the most famous colors of iphone 😂
The ugliest iPhone color was piss gold iPhone 6
I always wanted a phone of the 5S style in a copper or bronze. No idea why but I think it would have looked sick with the white faces.

The Red iPhone 7 Plus had the aluminum back.
The Red on the 8 was also deeper on the glass than the 7 on the aluminum.

The iPod Touch product red had a white front so there was precedent - 5c was the weird one for having a black front until 8
