I loved seeing PAT's face when HE finally realised what Ian's been trying to make clear several times XD To me that was the best part of all of this :P Such a loveable goofball :P
Oddly heartwarming ending that he returned it. At my local thrift store they had to put a sign on the free bins asking people not to take the actual bins, so I guess you can't take anything for granted.
I love this segment. I haven't worked at retail, but had friends with some stories. One time I was hanging out at a store where my friend was managing. It was about 30 minutes before closing and this guy come in to trade some obscure, low budget PS2, FPS game that was based on the gulf war (this was back before the PS3 came out). The guy was in his mid to late 40's and didn't seem to know much about games in general. Here is what ensued:Customer: (Slides game in case across the counter)Yeah, I want to trade this game in. Something is wrong with it.My Friend: Ok. What's wrong with it?Customer: (Pulls out the instruction manual) You see that bar?My Friend: The health bar?Customer: Yeah that one! How come very time I get hit; that thing goes down? How do I get it to go back up? (I moved away and tried not to laugh)My Friend (not wanting to engage in this conversation any longer than needed): I don't know.Customer: I want to sell it.My friend:(proceeds to scan the game) "Four"Customer: "Four?!??!"My Friend" "Four."Customer" Four Dollars?!?!"My Friend" Four Bucks"Customer: But you are selling it brand new for $20!Friend: Yeah, it doesn't sell much.Customer: "Forget it. I'll take it to gamestop. They will give me more for it!"Friend "Ok.(10 minutes later this guy comes back)Customer (slides the game across the counter) "Yeah, I will take the money, ya crook!!"This was the most hilarious thing I had witnessed in a store at that point. Still remember it to this day!
the stones on this dude I don't care who you are you know not to take a whole bin and he probably waited till Ian wasn't looking to take it and if you do that then know what you are doing love these tales can't wait to here more
Well next time I see a free bin at Luna Games or SoCal Retro Gaming Expo, I'll be sure to look though it. This was too funny to watch, also gotta love the funny stories from the game store.
Ive worked retail for like 20 years. It can be ridiculous. I relate to stuff like this very much. Just 2 years ago, i had a gentleman shower me with his nuts all over my face!!! He literally threw cashews at me across from the service desk!
The irony is at some point it'll be considered collectable to some people and the price will go up! (I'm not saying expensive collectable, but given time, it will be looked back on as a oddity in video games)
Ian, I've been to your LA Mesa store before and didn't seem like it was a place to have such shananigans, then again nothing surprises me with all the tweakers out here hahaha!
The most ridiculous thing about this to me is someone did the same thing with our free record bin! Only this person wasn’t nice enough to bring the bin back :-(
I've actually made a joke about this back in highschool, I was at a golden coral once, and there was a metal wire rack of free coupon fliers, and it had a paper on it that said "free: take one" but the rack was empty, so, as a joke I said "oh? 'free: take one'... okay" and I picked up the rack and acted like I was gonna walk out with it
That's just confusing, man. Pat's right -- it did say "Free Bin." That's how I was thinking a methster would interpret that... I'm surprised he returned it. 😂😂😂
Well he obviously needed the bin to carry all the stuff if his backpack was already full. Since he returned the bin really quickly I guess it was no harm done.. just a bit strange.
wait... the actual bin?!? Phrasing, I guess, but jeez. As for the games, my guess would be dumpster diving, either Gamestop, Half Price Books, or what have you. Now I'm just picturing some crack shack lined with old toy guitars, drums, and turntables like a Toys R Us version of Bob Rock's studio.
He could have gotten those cd's from a gamestop trash bin. My friend used to work there, and they had a policy to destroy games that would'nt sell. Typo fix
Dude, they were in the FREE bin. He literally couldn't give it away except for the one homeless guy looking to pass off one stores junk to another for pennies, and I promise you other game stores ain't gonna take it either.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Ians segment, that being said, this story and the one before it kinda bum me out because they kinda feel like just making fun of homeless or people with drug issues. I know that's probably not Ian's intent, just the way it feels.
I would LOVE to see Ian's face when he realised the bin was gone ^^
Release the security tape!

This is my favorite part of the show. Lol I can definitely relate. Been in retail 20 plus years. Its wild out in the world.
@@bigduke5902 lol certified and at times a therapist
Ian's "Aw man, he took the bin!?" makes me laugh so much.
Pretty cool that you guys have a Free Bin.
Pat: OH HE TOOK THE ACTUAL BIN! 😂😂
That part still kills me.
He never actually listens to Ian, it's ridiculous

L.M.A.O
he didnt want the 32 cents from gamestop?
I'm surprised he returned the bin lol
*Free Bin *(not the actual bin)
*bin not included
I mean.... he DID return the bin...
Ian's always like "well this isn't much of a story, but..." and it's always awesome
Binge watching all the tales after ep 350. I fucking lost it with the term "social meth" 🤣
"There not all going to be gems...." proceeds to relay yet another precious gem. These are hilarious
This needs to be a regular segment. I love stories from the store!
"Balloon that's just starting to loose some air", LOL!
Sounds like the bin needs to be relabeled from "Free Bin" to "Free Stuff!" Excellent segment and gives me a laugh and smile every time!
Randomly just found this old video of you guys, and it's probably the funniest one ever 😆👌
Well in his defense it did say "free bin" which technically means the bin is free. :D
LOL! Well, it did say "FREE BIN"! Glad to hear that he returned it, at least! Thanks for the store stories, Ian!
A few times now pat doesn't realize fully what's going on lmfao
the stones on this dude I don't care who you are you know not to take a whole bin and he probably waited till Ian wasn't looking to take it and if you do that then know what you are doing love these tales can't wait to here more
I'd like to think that the stuff he originally brought to sell was from a "free bin" in another store.
That's cool that you have a free bin. My local game store has a bin with like 99 cent and below games but not a free bin so that's pretty cool.
I just love watching these tales from the game store. More Please.
Ian has the best store stories. I love them.
I'm sure there were people outside that store with picket signs, "Free the bin."
Free Hat
this story was so good, after listening to the podcast I had to watch the video! This is the best part of the show!
Talking to strangers when your stoned is awkward. Talking to strangers on uppers is pure hell.
Well next time I see a free bin at Luna Games or SoCal Retro Gaming Expo, I'll be sure to look though it. This was too funny to watch, also gotta love the funny stories from the game store.
so cool that you even have a free bin !
I love this segment!!!! Hilarious!!
Funny story! I needed a laugh after such a hectic day.
Ive worked retail for like 20 years. It can be ridiculous. I relate to stuff like this very much. Just 2 years ago, i had a gentleman shower me with his nuts all over my face!!! He literally threw cashews at me across from the service desk!
I LOVE PATS STORIES 100% ...MORE PLEASE !!!!
Ngl im tempted to go to luna, dump the free stuff out of the bin then just take the bin. Just to get a laugh lol
Same lol
"Don't take my bin."
Alleged meth head proceeds to return the bin some 2 hours later. At least Ian got the bin back.
Love this segment, keep it coming!
God I love these stories.
This is the funniest thing ever! 🤣🤣🤣
Oh man I laughed so much. Great story!
HAHAHAHA!!! I lost it when he brought it back.
He's not gonna sell that Rockband crap to anyone. We had that shit collecting dust at my job for years. I think we recently threw it out. Guitars too.
The irony is at some point it'll be considered collectable to some people and the price will go up!
(I'm not saying expensive collectable, but given time, it will be looked back on as a oddity in video games)
@Boco Corwin I wonder if those Xbox elite controllers will be sought after like the GC Wavebirds
There is a small but dedicated Guitar Hero community
@Boco Corwin Yeah I sold my Zappers for like a few bucks now I see they re creepin up
I actually found an open box rock band cymbals set at Luna for free, was able to sell it for $40 two months later lol
Haha free bin! I can't wait to find a garage sale!
Ian, I've been to your LA Mesa store before and didn't seem like it was a place to have such shananigans, then again nothing surprises me with all the tweakers out here hahaha!
Thank you for the story, it was a good laugh! =)
Same here and especially how Ian says: "Oh, I'm just returning your bin!" gets me laughing!
😂 “he took the bin “!
Lol I would have probably just taken the bin left everything else there XD. Just to be cheeky!!!
Clearly he just needed to carry all that loot in something. Lol.
Oh man this one is a classic lol
Man, this was funny as hell. Keep this one up please.
Love to see this story animated
This is great! At least the guy brought it back :D
Love these stories
The most ridiculous thing about this to me is someone did the same thing with our free record bin! Only this person wasn’t nice enough to bring the bin back :-(
It took 40 years for Pat to realize that Ian didn't give a shit about the stuff in the bin, all he cared about was the bin.
Haha at least he brought the bin back XD
need more stories "FROM THE GAME STORE"
Love me some TALES FROM THE GAME STORE
Have a drink every time Ian says “like” ..
At least he did a nice thing in the end.
Games were probably free from another store.
Free Bin
Man could have committed a murder with that bin and returned it. DANG!!
@0:51 the moment Pat's brain implodes
I like the crazy customer stories! I work in retail so I guess I can relate
So far I think I've let out a laugh, while listening to every one of these game store stories. Thank you guys, for this segment.
Ahahahahaha that was funny.... great story
Great segment guys
Oh boy, free bin !
Tales from the game store. That’s epic.....
Someone is going to see this and go into the store to take the bin
I've actually made a joke about this back in highschool, I was at a golden coral once, and there was a metal wire rack of free coupon fliers, and it had a paper on it that said "free: take one" but the rack was empty, so, as a joke I said "oh? One of the funniest podcasts ever.
Hey... at least dude's honest! Also, I concur, Dumpster Diver. Quick buck.
this is like a Seinfeld scene
That's just confusing, man. Pat's right -- it did say "Free Bin." That's how I was thinking a methster would interpret that... I'm surprised he returned it. 😂😂😂
Time to put a chain on that bin.
This story was fcking hilarious!!!! Lol
Well he obviously needed the bin to carry all the stuff if his backpack was already full. Since he returned the bin really quickly I guess it was no harm done.. just a bit strange.
Dude probably tried to re sell that stuff somewhere else or trade it for drugs. At least he brought back that bin tho!
Dumpster Diver confirmed.
LOL! This was hilarious!
Good ol' fashion social meth.
Hilarious 😂😂😂

I probably would have done the same thing
Now I'm just wondering if you're going to make a note on the sign that says "Do not take the bin itself, just the items in it" lol
The social methwork
The first thing that came to mind after reading the title was.... GAMESTOP HAS A "FREE" BIN!!!???...then I noticed I read it wrong 😐
This is great 🤣🤣🤣
Never trust someone over 22 with a backpack that is nowhere near a campsite or trail.
Umm... he used the bin temporarily to get the stuff conveniently to his car and then returned the bin. Is this rocket science?
well at least he brang it back
They are free, so it is not stealing.
Yeah but it's called being a fucking asshole. You don't just take a whole bin of games and act like a jackass. They guy over stepped his bounds there.
So obvious you haven't watched the vid.
Ninjas that steal free stuff haha
takes the bin and said this will buy me some great crack
Ian looks much better since his illness was at it's peak. He's put on a bit of weight so that's a good thing.
I lost it at social meth
Why the would you give a Rock Band drumset away? Those are still worth money!
@@mariojones6674 Nor warranty them.
Dude, they were in the FREE bin.
