- Hello everyone! Back in June, I took my second ever trip to Germany. During that trip, I managed to film some cars, one of which was this beautiful 1996 SLK 230 Kompressor that is owned by a friend of mine who let me film it. Enjoy!

Finally a car review after such a long time.
Thanks for sharing.
+Blu Jeansify Thank you for watching!
I'll never get sick of watching that roof work. I wish I could go for a top-down drive in mine right now but it's too cold to do that (even for me!).
Love the r170 and love the sound of the kompressor
The exhaust sounds just right with the top down.
I love my SLK 230. When I drive down the seawall in Galveston I see a lot of people checking it out
Fantastic detail really appreciate that cheers
Brilliant video, thanks!
Thank you for an excellent video!
Nice review. I'm planning to get a car like this myself. 😉👍
My mom has the same but no automatic...we just drive this car in summer...thats why our slk looks like new!!!
amazing interior
Fantastic car, one on my shopping list still :-)
that interior is amazing
It may have been repainted. The r170s have major problems with peeling interior paint.
True
Mine interior needs repainting, has the same, colour interior.
Very good informative video, thanks.
Thanks for this mate. I'm looking at buy one as a sort of weekend car, and i was desperately looking for a video with the engine running correctly so i can gauge the sound as it should sound. Also, it a very in depth overview of an SLK in great condition so I can view the second hand cars now with a greater understanding of what's good and what's bad.
I really appreciate this video. Thanks a lot.
P.S.
If you ever see this message perhaps you could let me know if you installed the daylights yourself? and what the process was?
I own a 2003 SLK320 and I love it

My mom has the same but no automatic...we just drive this car in summer...thats why our slk looks like new!!!
The S on the transmission switch means 'standard' not sport on a Benz.
Wrong. It's "weich" (soft) and sport.
Is this car expensive to have
+Ps4 all the way no it's not
Yep. the electrical system is problematic and the vario roof is very expensive to service if it fails.
It is. I love mine to death but in the 4 years I've owned it, 2016 was the only one to not have some sort of weird, expensive electrical failure occur. My car has had a lot of issues, especially concerning the security system. And if there's ANY problem in the security system, your car will not start. Everything else on the thing- engine, transmission, etc. feels bombproof.
Does anyone who has this car also has a multiple cd-changer in their glovesbox? I have that, but for some reason it's too small for a cd to fit, so I'm wondering how to use it... Could anyone help me out with that?
my all original 99 has the cd changer in trunk
maybe the original connections in trunk, maybe a d.i.y. job or take to local stereo shop to re hook up, my all original is 6 cd changer I think it would be impossible to fit in glovebox, if not working buy a used one at a junkyard or on ebay then have them install in trunk
How does this particular Mercedes not have air conditioning?
+Kevin Lofur It was an option.
On a Mercedes? A/C was an option??
+Kevin Lofur this car is almost 20 years old. And yes, indeed, german premium cars have (had) many options which make them expensive. But keep in mind : when you live in a central european country where average temperature is mostly about 15° celsius (60 farenheit), the aircondition was considered as an option. And heated leather seats as well. You don't need a warmed up ass on a leather seat when you have mostly 45 Fahrenheit on winters... ;-) In fact, I have a slk 170since 18 years, and I don't give a damn about that shit. I need brakes and steerings that are doing well after 100.000 miles on country lanes...
My understanding is that the SLK has 'Climate Control' as standard, with dual-zones - left and right side of the car. Just set one of the two temperature dials and the car does the rest. This particular car also features heated seats - a big plus for driving top down in cold weather.
It doesn't have climate control.
My dad has that car
no air condition???????
I have slk 230 kompressor 1999 hhhh

I will buy this car, I hope with black and white interior, because red and black looks like... pimp car :|
Check engine light is either faulty or taped over / removed on this car.
