How often should you change the oil in the compressor and where can I get it from? all parts places don't sell compressor oil in the UK it's supposed to be LC delco even Mercedes didn't have it. Could I use any brand of compressor oil?
I want to buy a very nice SLK 200, it has only 66 800 kms on odometer but the dealer told me the roof stopped working this winter.
Should I still buy the car and how much would it cost me to fix the roof ?

The hydraulic fluid on my pump is low and I want to add more hydraulic fluid but the Allen wrench bolt is extremely hard to loosen and get off as it is in there for 24 years now. The car is 1998 MB SLK 230. Is there a proper video for adding hydraulic fluid for the roof pump in the trunk? Thank you.

Never in many years had a simple problem. Was I cursed with bad luck? Nope, just poor engineering from car makers.
I´ve seen things you humans wouldn't believe, buying a CBR that was requiring a new cam chain and valve work, that got sorted filling the empty fuel tank 🙃😝

it Is the later version. smaller charger. the earlier one has electric clutch and a bigger charger. much more difficult to remove

Anyone knows what kind of oil should you use for the hydraulics of the roof?
Same oil as power steering, basically go for CHF 11 hydraulic fluid, (green label)

My roof stopped functioning and I had to close the roof manually. Now the boot won't raise when I attempt to raise the roof. I am not receiving an error signal from the roof switch. I recently added hydraulic fluid to the pump (the proper Mercedes fluid.) Any thoughts?

Hi mate, Currently my roof is open and cannot close, when i press the close button, the window go down but nothing happen after that. i took it to my mechanic and they accidently pull the right cable and it broke. what can i do to close the roof now. please help. thanks
You are lucky it is a face lift slk 230 (repeat indicators in the mirror housing, as the Early version has a bigger supercharger and and electric clutch (does not rotate until engine is at 2500 rpm). and the supercharger is a pig to remove.

you for got about the special oil fro the super charger which should be changed ever 40k miles
i did this on a CLK 200k with newer (M271) engine. even more difficult, it took days 😂
dont talk to me about the m271 engine its most over engineered engine in history and that timing chain that wouldent be suitable for a kids bicycle
@@drone_tours ~247000km (153k miles) and still running 👀
@@rimax82 there's nothing really wrong with them just replace the timing chain every 95k miles and service it regularly
@@drone_tours I actually used a bicycle chain tool to drive the pin in on my new chain. Couldn't believe how small it is 🤣

where y’all at i got two of these cars one is the same as the one he is working on and the other one is a 1999 and the dealership charged me 1,665 just for the gear shifter and i have a whole parts car 🤦🏽♀️ i need my top yoo go down and my throttle position sensor replaced and i don’t like too do it myself bc the car is very delicate all i did was clean my car sprayed something on the dash not even the gear shifter and it somehow found a way down there cause it too mess up i need someone that’s not gon charge me 3000$ for something simple sooo pls respond 😭 u probably 3 days away tho

I prefer Ant as a restorer. Edd was fine, and people got stuck on him, but Ant is a level above in terms of skill. Never saw Edd make an exhaust from scratch. He just got Mike to buy one. Edd is a mechanic. Ant is an engineer.
The show just needs more Ant and less Mike.
Edd can't you see what a bunch of RUclipsrs are doing? Make your own channel reviving any car on a budget.

The SLK R170 is a really small car - compared to other cars, keep this in mind!

Why they reccord with such low quality cameras?
Well, since these clips are very old by now the quality can seem pretty bad, i think the slk episode was released back in 2012, Edd stopped working with Wheeler Dealers 2017 and was replaced by Ant
Edd should go back with Mike and make great videos together again

Mike was always a bullshitter, that’s what made him successful. Together with Edd, they made the best car show. The move to the States was the nail in the coffin. Selling out to Velocity just finished it off. It was Mikes baby, but he did not need to have more air time than buying then selling.
It’s return to the UK will not help it survive, the rot set in when Edd left.
