Aside from RNG in Fireworks Factory, this is an amazing run - ThaRixer introduced me to you through his video about this run, and wow... this is amazing. Can't wait to see more of your Spyro content soon - just ended up getting Season of Ice & Season of Flame on my GBA emulator thanks to ThaRixer's video on this run.

The run was very entertaining, thanks for broadcasting live, not just this run but all the attempts. I am so proud of this accomplishment, and I hope to see many more feats from you in the future. Sure. Area portals like the one that leads into Sorceress's Lair are sometimes much larger than they appear to be visually. In this case, part of the portal bleeds invisibly into the mountains behind the castle. I reach this section of the portal by directing a horizontal squeeze proxy from the Desert Ruins portal structure and the ground in a way that slides me up an angled part of the scenery.
For reference, a squeeze proxy occurs when you force Spyro into a position where his hitbox is being pressed beyond a specific threshold. In such a position, Spyro is forced away from the pressure with a magnitude dependent on the severity of the squeeze.

After that, we apply our understanding of the trick to similar situations to see if the technique has utility elsewhere. The original discovery sometimes happens by accident, but often will happen when someone wants a specific skip and doesn't have a way to do it with current knowledge. The technique I used is called a momentum conservation jump. Essentially, by charging, stopping, then fluidly transitioning into a jump, some of the horizontal momentum of my charge is preserved and applied to the in-air forward movement of my jump. In other words, rather than jumping higher than usual, the apex of my jump occurs farther forward than it would normally.

Haven't seen this til now! Wow!! I've played Spyro my whole life and didn't know these exploits existed.. Do these still work in the reignited trilogy or have they been patched?
The Reignited Trilogy was built from the ground up, so nothing really translates from the OG version. There are still plenty of gamebreaking glitches in SRT though. You can find the leaderboard for those games here: www.speedrun.com/spyrortpc.
"It's a good question. It's referred to as a proxy - the most common form in this run is a dead body proxy, so I'll explain that one. There are certain objects in the game that Spyro can charge through, but not glide through. If you charge jump toward an object of this type, then press X while still holding Square as you enter the hitbox of the object, Spyro glides for one frame and then continues charging on the next frame. During the gliding frame, the game recognizes Spyro is inside of an object and pushes him out of it. The velocity of this push is preserved as a vector with magnitude and direction based on where you were in the hitbox when you pressed X. TL;DR (method stripped of explanation): Charge jump toward a proxyable object and press X while still holding Square as you enter its hitbox."
@@jcthompson0005 man thank you so much for this detailed answer. it sounds like its really precise to pull off. how long it take you to get it down with ease?
The game has a global adaptive difficulty system based mostly on which eggs have been collected. Insomniac designated some eggs as "hard" eggs. The value in the game that controls global difficulty changes whenever you collect one of those eggs and, after the threshold is met, the global difficulty scales up. It turns out that the only "hard" egg I've collected by the time I enter Spike is Grayson, which I collect after defeating Buzz. Because of that, I'm able to enter Spike's Arena still on easy mode and play Spike on that difficulty.
A Spyro 4 game would be absolutely amazing. Especially if they can make as good a game as the new Crash Bandicoot game It's About Time was. Spyro was always my favourite 3D platformer series. I put dozens and dozens of hours into the Spyro 3 demo alone, it was that good, and so then of course I just had to buy the full game. And now I have the remake of the trilogy of course, and it's incredible too. So yeah a new Spyro game would be amazing. 3D platformers seem to be making a comeback in recent years. And we've got things like Mario Oddysey which for my money is the best 3D Mario game ever made. And the new Ratchet and Clank game that was incredible. And the remakes of the Crash and Spyro trilogies sold like gangbusters. And we got the sequel to Psychonauts finally. So yeah why not? Why not get whoever made the remake of the trilogy (Toys for Bob?) to make a new Spyro game?
Spyro 3 was rushed at it's original release, so some levels never got finished soundtracks and had placeholder soundtracks from other levels, like Sunrise Spring playing over the Sorceress' Lair (super anticlimactic sounding I know). They didn't fix it until they released the Greatest Hits version in 2002. So if you had the original NTSC release of the game from 2000, or the PAL release, you don't get to hear certain soundtracks.

I'm still pretty happy with the run. I might come back eventually, but I don't feel obligated to unless someone beats my time. By pausing on the frame where I receive damage that should cause Spyro to die and then exiting the level, I initiate a glitch called "zombie Spyro".
