      Apparently the sale has been agreed today, that is called investment. This week the German-owned supermarket announced it is investing £1.3bn over the next two years, adding 100 new stores and a logistics centre in Leicestershire, as it aims to ramp up further its share of the UK grocery market.
      Lidl, which employs nearly 26,000 staff, will invest £1.3bn this year and next with a plan to open about 50 more new stores this year and shift to a new British headquarters in Tolworth, south-west London, and build a new warehouse in Luton.

      "The company is owned by the Kraft-Heinz Company," The collapse of the £ after the Brexit referendum presented marvellous opportunities to snap up British companies at fire-sale prices. Kraft also picked up Cadbury, hence the chocolate is now largely sh1te and sugar.

    • @ohgosh5892
      @ohgosh5892 3 года назад +2

      Just for info, 'c' is for nouns and 's' is for verbs in ice/ise words,
      To practise = verb
      The practice = noun.
      The advice = noun.
      To advise = verb.
      The licence = noun
      I/we/you license = verb.
      A lot of native english speakers get this wrong, and yanks are incredibly confused on this.
      The practise is always wrong, and practiced is also always wrong.
      There is a trick to remember it, noun is before verb as C is before S in the alphabet.

    Out of curiosity, I looked up that White Knight washer. It was made in Lightcliffe Factory, Hipperholme, Halifax HX3 8DE, United Kingdom by Crosslee Plc. As it happens, it doesn't qualify as an example of things _still_ British, since in 2019 they ceased manufacturing at that site "due to competition from the Far East and Eastern Europe. The factory buildings are now vacant and it is proposed to demolish them in advance of redevelopment of the site for mixed use purposes."

Maybe Glasnost and the fall of the Berlin wall including the same wall that separated the East Of Europe from the west encouraged the capitalists to stop pretending ?
