    This is EXACTLY what I've been working on, and lifting the left heel slightly in the backswing has made all the difference. To make sure the left miss doesn't sneak up on me (as it has with you), I've been making sure my trail hand grip is neutral or even leaning weaker but NEVER leaning strong, and it's kept the misses only one way. Good stuff, Andy.

    It has taken me a while (years) to work out that when we talk about weight transfer we are really talking about pressure. I was trying to move my weight over my trail leg which led to a sway rather than focusing on creating downward pressure through my trail foot. No sway but more power and my average drive so far this year is 20+ yards up on all of last year with more to come. This is a really good video, great format seeing you guys working on your game and Andy's swing is looking smooth.

    After seeing this video, I took the feel of "very far from the golf ball" to the range and course. I'd say overall this improves my swing, cures my overswing and over the top down swing.
    I have not measure the sway or film from the face angle, but the feeling of right and far from the golf ball on the top helps me find a room to come back to the ball from the inside, where as before I feel like there is no room to come back from inside and ended up swinging it over the top and hit it downwards.

  • @steveharris5657
    @steveharris5657 Год назад

    Hi Guys, my driving was massive, but I didn't have the consistency in my accuracy. I went for a lesson with a pro here in Australia . My back swing was exactly what you are describing and for me that was my sort of trigger point for my whole swing. After the lesson, I came away so deflated and confused . It felt that my body was all tide up and that I had no freedom to move. Also my swing speed went down 15 mph and my distance was way down from what I was hitting. That was a year ago , my game has gone to crap, my H/cap has gone through the roof and I really wanted to give the game up, and all because I wanted a nicer looking swing. After watching this video, it has made me realise that I was doing the right thing for me and that I should go back to what I was doing and this is what I'm going to do . Thanks for this video

    I not only lift my left heal (as a right-handed player), I twist my foot slightly a little to allow me to to turn my left knee in and load up on my right leg. I also flare my right foot out a little more to allow the turn. If I don't do these moves, I can't turn and become all arms. Bad arthritis in both shoulders and neck limit my mobility greatly. Does this make sense?

      This is a key part Mike. What I am actually doing is releasing it the same but as I am hitting it later in the arc, the club is more released if that makes sense? That is why the speed is also up.

    Words like “weight”, and “sway” can be misinterpreted by most amateurs. I like the term “pressure”. Your feet will tell you EVERYTHING. Use the pressure from your feet, into the ground, to “apply the brakes”. Your right foot will apply the brakes before you reach the top, and start the transfer into your left side. This then allows you time to apply the brakes with your left foot, and get that slingshot affect from the ground through impact. Watch the long drive guys. People are way too robotic, and static in their golf swing. Power is created through dynamic, and athletic movement of the entire body. If your buddy told you that he would give you $100 if you could throw your 9 iron 100 yards, I promise you that you would turn your body, shift pressure, and create a ton of speed and power naturally. Free yourself up, and make that work in your golf swing. That little white ball scares people STIFF. lol

    Its interesting to note that while you were feeling like you were moving off the ball, you didnt have a consistent start line or curve. Consistenly pulling the ball and hit pull hooks or pull/push cuts, very chaotic flights. I would say if you were looking for more distance and attack angle why would you not just swing around your body more instead of shifting off the ball? Would also note that higher launch did appear but your dispersion also suffered greatly. Some people may enjoy more accuracy over distance.
