  • “The Planets” - Mvt. 4 - “Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity”
    Composed by Gustav Holst
    Performed by:
    USC Thornton Symphony
Originally performed March 12, 2015 at Bovard Auditorium - University of Southern California
Guest conductor Yoav Talmi leads the USC Thornton Symphony in a performance of “Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity,” the fourth movement of Holst’s The Planets. This movement features a spirited melody, giving way to a courtly and regal theme. Holst maintained a deep interest in astrology and often cast horoscopes for his friends.
