I bet this is the best video on dopamine.. No one would hav ever explained or will explain the way u did... The summary table in the end is the real gem.. u jst brought together everything about dopamine, seasoned it with ur great explanation skills and served it...u r just awesome 😘😘😘😘
1)Drive - Reward and Motivation 2)Psychosis - Hallucinations and Delusions 3) Parkinson's Disease/Motor - decreased secretion of dopamine leads to motor dysfunction. 4) Attention - increased attention 5) Inhibition - if blocked, prolactin is released 6) Narcotics - addictive 7) Physical side effects
This was so helpful. Neurology can be a maze but now in my psychiatry rotation I'm able to make head and tail of presentation, management and side effects of conditions that affect the dopaminergic system.
I love these videos. I'm a mental health professional. Could you create some content to clarify the neuro aspects of psychosis as it relates to antipsychotics and regular drug use (spec. cocaine, meth)? I believe the dopamine connection could be one reason we see such a high rate of dual diagnosis of severe mental illness and substance use disorders. It could also explain why we see such little relief in symptoms when antipsychotic medications are taken alongside these specific drugs.
Hello Sir! Thank you for your understandable videos .They help us a lot in our studies. As Afghan girls and doctors we are facing lots of difficulties in medical sources. could you please able us to watch all of you videos specifically psychology playlist! Please do not disappoint us!!!
precise and accurate!! its easily digestible too with that humor you added. enjoyed every bit of it. the table in the end its the best , how i wish i had easy versions for all them stingy hormones
Thank you for the awesome video....i also love the summary slide you have! Super helpful. Would you consider having a lecture on Dopamine receptors and how agonist/antagonist/partial agonism works in the contect of pharmacotherapy?
In such a case for high dopamine as you said opposite side treatment is given. Due to this if impotence is happened in male, is that reversible. Because low dopamine leads to addiction
I actually like it, he sounds bored, allows me to underestimate the content leading me to memorize it from one viewing, which is interesting... someone should research this :P
Simple. How about dopamine have exitory and inhibitory neurons. D1,d5 exit, d2,d3,d4 inhibition. When dopamine releases on both neurons how active or inactivity involved?
This will happen to everyone! It’s the law of diminishing marginal return. It’s also beca your receptors get desensitized. But, if you think there’s something wrong, talk to your doctor!
This video showed me that I definitely have chronic low dopamine levels. I'm slow in sports to ever catch a ball reliably or defend myself in boxing, I feel blah & never care to hangout with anyone and prefer to sleep the day away & as a male, I have titties too big which I get teased about at the pool or beach. Oh yeah and as a baby I was colic. When life gives you lemons & takes away the sugar so you can't even make that lemonade :P
high dopamine leads to low prolactin and vice versa, so does that mean a nursing mother shouldn't be very happy because that will reduce lactation? please correct me if i'm wrong. i'm confused.
Yes, that’s why bromocriptine (dopamine agonist) can inhibit lactation (at least theoretically). But the mother being unhappy won’t help, to the contrary.
Happiness is correlated with specific neurotransmitters including Dopamine and Serotonin however this neurotransmitter increase takes place in specific regions of the brain associated with emotions... For dopamine to inhibit prolactine secretion, dopamine has to be in high concentration in the pituitary gland (or the correct precursor or agonist should arrive in the blood). So a ''natural'' feeling of happiness in motherhood should't affect lactation because these biochemical changes are mostly local (this could also explain why we can't see psychiatric disorders, with today's tech at least, in blood or urine tests).
