I just recently started playing tf2 again on my new steam account for the first time in like 5+ years, and this is really helpful. For the first time I’m not playing the game on an ancient laptop and I was really digging to find what people use to make the game feel like it didn’t release over a decade ago
If possible, I'd recommend also trying that new x64 Bit Linux Branch. While not available to be played publicly on Casual yet, it's worth tinkering with.
If valve didn't get asshurt ten years ago over the stickybomb wallhacks, and the rocket prediction vfx's. We'd be able to use mods in the official servers and creativity wouldn't be so choked.
Nice video! Had no idea some of those existed even after playing for 15 years :D. A suggestion for your video though - I found the descriptive characters such as in 5:43 hard to read (to a point where I just stopped reading them). Maybe improving the spacing between the lines, characters or even changing the font would go a long way!
I was like "Yeah, I'll watch this I guess" but then I saw the Mother of nature god blessed menu that popped up around 4:37 and was like "Yo lady, where you from?" So yeah, one question. h o w
I just stumbled across your channel Have you made any performance based videos on optimizing tf2 for better fps? My cpu always makes my game stinky I've done my research, but you're pretty cool
I'd recommend looking into graphics configs. They're usually pretty easy to make, you select some options and it will generally make the game look much, much worse but if you really want to squeeze every frame you can out of your hardware that'll be your best bet. There are lots of things you simply can't change in TF2s in-game settings that have much lower values that you can't see. Look into some places to generate one (like mastercomfig) Or enable DX8 to disable lots of the warpaint stuff that's been added in the game to make the game less cpu intensive, or even just marking the game as high priority for your CPU. Then of course there's always upgrading the hardware when you can and if you can. Lots of ways to squeeze frames out of this game
I think my previous comment got deleted because I shared a link. Here's a repost. 尾田's Particle Effects Collection on Gamebanana manages to make the game even more visually pleasing. The way projectile have team colored trail and how stylized he made explosion gibs are very satisying. My only gripe is that he changed the "crit hit" text into an orangy color instead of the iconic green (it still looks great tho, he put his own touch up on it and its really nice looking)
@@poptop89 ok so after a few days here's a few quirk with the mod that I found out: -projectile trail and overheal effect dont work in casual -sniper has a unique muzzle animation that looks like a bright scoping diamond whenever he shoots (not quite game braking, just makes it easier to spot a sniper from far away) -medic heal target has a unique rhombus shaped tag that follows the heal target even behind walls -corpse that died from burning leave a smoking effect on their body -teleport has a "blackhole" on top of it when it is ready to use (the "blackhole" doesnt appear in casual)

just some advice, it seems like your heavy animations aren't working, I presume you've downloaded one of paysus's optional files, either alt minigun or alt fist, but you need to download those alongside the main overhaul files otherwise it wont work. Also paysus and kylul have pyro anims, both are good. If you have spare time check them out
Most all of them, except for the Altered Explosions, Projectiles, Explosions and What's left of Ye. Animation mods may need a line similar to this one "map_background itemtest; wait 10; disconnect" in order to load properly, and sometimes that will also trick the game into letting skins or models also pass through in my experience but it's not a reliable thing to have happen.
@@poptop89 theres mods like texture improvement pack where it just changes qol stuff like blu scout's pants being brown instead of blue, nicer looking textures, and higher polygon models mods like that one TF2 classic player model port. also fixes for the viewmodels being inconsistent with the worldmodels i dont use much of these as i need fps, but i want to make my game look good, so i sacrifice those mods. btw the mods i mentioned some of them got casual compatible fixes. i assume you know about preloading and stuff
@FED0RA I usually don't dabble with those because I play mainly on Casual servers and texture/model replacements usually don't work. That's not to say all the mods I use do- but usually they are okay.
@@poptop89 there is a bypass found by the community that is completely safe. apparently, model mods by themselves are accepted by sv pure 1, but not the textures. there's a texture folder unchecked by sv pure, and they just moved the textures there, and changed the path where the models take the textures from
needs more mods.

if you put map itemtest; wait 5; disconnect; wait 3; echo in your autoexec or console mods should work in casual servers idk tho
only visual mods i think
Here's a cool mod: recompiled lods (level of details) it works on casual without needing to preload it and improves optimisation:)
Will need to check it out
