something i would note as an addition, another thing to put in ur autoexec would be hud_combattext_batching_window 2, this extends the time for the hud_combattext_batching 1 so that afterburn will add up and things like the scatter and rocket launcher will add up because it has a time frame of 2 seconds.

It kinda sucks how competitive creates a sort of race for the lowest possible/lowest detail settings in order to get an edge. Stuff like solid color textures making players easier to spot (I'm not saying FUNKe uses this, but I've seen it around) and disabling explosion smoke seems dirty to me. I hope valve tightens up what settings can be used when competitive matchmaking comes out so you don't have to feel like you're playing at a disadvantage for not running tf2 on your n64.

The whole point of competitive is to win, therefore you must decrease graphics levels to get more fps and therefore be able to aim better and give more information to your team. Some people can't afford swanky expensive computers and therefore have to have crap graphics to be on the same level as others

Toon HUD for all of you that's struggling to download custom HUDs or just changing details, like transparent viewmodels. It's easy to download and has a variety of customizations from colors, to models, to text fonts, HUD meters, text colors, menu colors, and much more. I extremely recommend it because it's simple and customizable.
Please note: I'm not advertising it, I simply recommend it. I was not hired to do this either.

Based on your tf2 config, I'd suggest you try out mat_color_projection 6, it is made to imitate Protanomaly, a form a colour blindness, and matches the TF art style nicely without sacrificing the recognition of enemies and friendlies.

+Radyjko No, create a file called autoexec.cfg in your config folder and put all commands you want there.
+FUNKe I like to use the stock HUD, and I don't like it adding up the damage for me, I prefer to see how much damage each of my shots do. Plus, I can just add up the damage pretty fast. I can see how people wouldn't like that though.
+FUNKe now, when making the autoexec.cfg file and putting in the commands you want, is there a specific way to put the commands in, or do you just type the command and press enter and type an other one in until you are done than save?
nevermind, i just researched it, after rewatching the end of the vid and using some of that good ol' common sense. :p i googled it and watched a video about it.

I was waiting for this all year funke
TF2 has so many things to tweak for newer players, such as: fov, viewmodel_fov, huds, graphics, sensitivity, damage text, raw input, binds and programs. If Valve wants to get new players into the game, they really should tune the settings to what the majority of TF2 regulars have to the default ones. I feel like that it has gotten to the point that people who have all these scripts and configs that improve your game slightly, *which adds up*, have a lot more of an advantage over ones who don't.
I have more than a 1,000 hours into this game and I finally got a custom HUD. I never got a custom HUD before because there's a lot of research that needs to be done in order to install one.

I use it, I think it's called Scout Animation Overhaul or something on gamebanana, only works on certain sv_pure servers

I think toon had is the best as it doesn't take up as much screen space and if you have no sound it tells you via text in the bottom of the creek important sounds and events from "spy de cloaking/cloaking" to even "heavy eating sandvich nearby!" Which can be VERY VERY useful!

Yeah it works and Valve servers with sv_pure enable. I got BudHud its good and clean, you should try it out.

FUNKe, toonhud has this feature too. All you have to do is do to their website then sign up your steam account and you can make your own version of toonhud :D

quick notes: you can add transparent viewmodels straight into your autoexec, but it can mess up you game at certain dxlevels

Some of these, especially the null movement script, seem like major advantages. It explains some of the weird stuff I've encountered where I didn't understand how a player could play as well as they did. It just annoys me that I'm handicapped by default without changing all these things. And while it's a very small handicap, against other skilled players it matters.

Oh yeah, I also use transparent view models, and I also manage a toggle on and off viewmodels. I kinda hate viewmodels, except I'm dumb enough that I forget what weapons I have, and end up trying to deflect while using phlog.

I just use the "smaller" hud that comes with TF2, it lowers all that clutter and doesn't bug out when there is a new update like some custom huds do.

Hey FUNKe, another really useful command (in console dah xD) is: hud_saytext_time (number) what it does is that you change the time a text appears...
Spent 2 hous trying to get he transparent models to work. I give up. TAKE MY SOUL GABEN.
I prefer FlatHud... Very nice hud, as it lets you choose what general color it is (red or blue) and it has just a nice feel to it. Consider checking it out someday Funke! Or anyone else for that matter
I'd rather have a transparent viewmodel than no viewmodel at all, because I don't have to watch my ammo to make sure I've reloaded. I know that might sound stupid, but that's just how I play.

i use toon hud. it looks really great, already has transparent viewmodels and even has a seperate program to set it up. all the overrides done in there. tons of settings. though i would love that smoke thingy. i hate when rocket jumping (pogo/wall pogo the smoke is always in the way and annoying). also while reading about the no smoke script, i do want to keep the halloween smoke trail, im fine with that. as i dont use stock for rocket jumping. i use jumper

I like to think of 'mods' as modifications to the vanilla experience, which by definition is correct (take this with a grain of salt, I can be wrong). Aside from that, thank you for introducing the command for stacking damage to me. It will be very helpful.

If anyone is looking to create your on graphics config cfg.tf is a good site to do that. You can add explosion scripts and a bunch of other settings to squeeze every frame out of the game. Cowmanglias config and chris coonfig are also pretty good for boosting fps.
İ think toon hud is great i reccomend it to everyone beacause you can costumize it and the costumisitation is not confusing and stuff so its just awesome!

To get transparent models on FunkeHUD do the following:
Go to the FunkeHUD folder
Search for Hudlayout.res
Press Ctrl+F
Search Transparent
Find the highlighted text and under Enabled and Visible change 0 to 1.
Profit.

I made a short script so that when I press q it toggles viewmodels on/off and it remembers which weapons have them on and off so when switch weapons I don't have to keep turning viewmodels off if I want them off for that specific weapon during that game. It remembers them even if I change classes and come back to that class.
Also I made a bind to toggle tryhard mode witch turns off dead bodies, smoke, and countless other changes.
