Godzilla Minus One was a great surprise this year and it is one of my top 3 films of the year. This is a fantastic movie and was a great IMAX experience and I already want to rewatch it. If you had any interest in Shin Godzilla, you definitely need to see this film. Hope you enjoy the video. Have a great day
The Ginza attack scene was so powerful on so many levels. In the eerie silence following the blast, Koichi sees a city destroyed, thousands probably killed, and thinks the woman he can't admit he cares about sacrificed herself to save his life from this monster that he could have killed 2 years earlier and prevented all of this misery. And here, again, he lives while so many have died. His rage and anguish was powerful and palpable. You really feel his torment and regrets for running when he could have made a difference, and you understand his resolve to do whatever is necessary to stop Godzilla's rampage. My comment to my wife as we left the theater was "Wow, there were so many layers to that movie" and that's what has made it a success.
Honestly, this is the best movie I have seen in a decade, maybe longer and is now my favorite film. 10 out of 10 easily. Watching American movies made me realize that I had forgotten what a great film looks like.
I saw this last Saturday and its been haunting me i cant stop thinking about how good it was. People were crying and everyone clapped at the end. This is just good pure A+ cinema.
It wasn't that good. I think it's ridiculous nobody was speaking American and can only guess they made it foreign to try and save money because of the budget cuts. Personally I found it very distracting, unrealistic and have no idea how this fits in with the other films. Hopefully the next one gets a bigger budget and we can get back to everybody speaking properly
@@BarryBerryBarryhuh? It’s a Japanese movie. The world doesn’t revolve around English! It’s not about what language they speak in the movie, it’s about how it is made. Godzilla is a Japanese creation by the way.
I saw Minus One twice last weekend and was awestruck. I will watch it again this Saturday. I told my friends and coworkers how great the movie was, so several folks, who are not fans of monster films, have decided to watch it. It’s a masterpiece!
Yes!! Thank you so much for mentioning the absolutely kick-ass soundtrack. So many positive reviews for this film and hardly a single one comments on how great the music throughout is.
You have the best intrepretation of the black mark and Noriko surviving. Staying within the themes presented and implied in the movie and not thinking its just sequel bait or a halfhearted attempt to soften the blow. I also saw it as a sort of divine gift, where since Koichi chose life and living for others, he was rewarded for his actions by finding out Noriko was alive. This was meant as a lesson to the audience to always choose life and have hope, since something miraculous could even happen. Even if suicide might seem like the only way out, have hope that something good will happen
Seriously these Japanese actors should win an Oscar. The acting was very good and gave off a Japanese 1945-1947 era that is rarely seen here in the States
I saw Minus 1 Sunday, and I loved it. It would have been a great movie even without the monster. There are real people with flaws working together to save their country. It has real friendships, and real love and caring.
Godzilla Official on X: 🦖isn’t going anywhere! In fact, the film will be playing on EVEN MORE North American screens this coming weekend-increasing to over 2,500 locations in the US & Canada starting December 8. As long as people are attending, showtimes will continue. So get your tickets and spread the word! GODZILLA MINUS ONE is (still) NOW PLAYING NATIONWIDE.
I'm so happy to see you made a video on Godzilla and that you talked about the score because god it was incredible . Literally had my jaw dropped the entire film. Great analysis as always and loved the comparisons to older Godzilla movies !!
While I agree, I think distinction should be made between “a” perfect Godzilla film and “the” perfect Godzilla film. I say that because Godzilla is unique- you can be a heavily themed serious film or it could be a giant monster royal rumble spectacle. Many fans love both versions and there’s room for both. Again though, Minus One is a perfect Godzilla film.
That’s a good point! I personally call it “The” because it sounded a little better for a video title and it is my personal favorite film from the franchise so far. I do want to rewatch Shin Godzilla because that is another film I might call “perfect” if I got to see it again.
I love that his breath is so strong it hurts/burns him up using it. This movie is so perfect its insane. Also this is just about as perfect a Godzilla as well. A force of death and destruction with an insatiable hatred of humanity. With all the garbage american made movies I really thought the odds of getting this movie in my lifetime were about minus one (see what I did there🤣)
I wanna see this movie so bad, I've been a cancer lizard fanatic for forever. I'm so sad that they haven't even announced when it's going fo to be released in my country. Hype levels are reaching critical.
I clicked on this because I want to give views to you, but I can't watch because I still haven't seen the movie. I'm looking forward to it based off reviews
@LavenderRex7705 the ending is a bit contrived, you never get anything out of Godzilla's back story other than Odo Island natives that you never see call the creature "Godzilla". It would have been nice to fill in that gap.
I can understand that sentiment. Personally, I was okay with Godzilla being more of a “what you see is what you get” and his simplicity worked in great contrast with the depth of the human characters.

Best Godzilla movie.
This franchise is at its best when they let auteurs just go crazy with it.
I watched twice last weekend and will be seeing it at a smaller arthouse theater this Saturday.
I’m also probably gonna try to watch it again in theaters this week!
True!
Viewing the film in IMAX is epic!
It's a great movie
This movie is a monster movie, but it's also an anti-war movie.
