Perfect pot for this type of thirsty orchid. I just bought 2 orchids ( the maxilarria and a brassavola) and I’m glad I’m doing the research on them because they are completely opposite of each other.
You will find that repotting tray once you've bought a new one. LOL, I think we all have the problem where you can't find an item your looking for when you need it but, find it when you no longer need it or went out and bought a replacement. I like this self watering pot it is beautiful and just stunning with the Maxillaria in it. The orchid itself is lovely, now I'm thinking of purchasing one.
You’re the sweetest bird and orchid mom! I’ve always wondered how this type of pots work - I love the ones my local nursery carries. Thanks for the info!!
Hi Dani, do variegated phalaenopsis take the same care as the complex hybrids ones and more importantly do they produce flower spikes do to drop in temp as well? Thank you!
Hi Danny, great video. I have exacty the same problem with my maxillaria but I' ll postpone the repot until spring... PS: good luck with the green house!:)
Could you put the maxillaria in the self watering pot without the wicking string and hole if the pot is working appropriately? or would it receive too much or too little water?
How long do their flowers last. I bought one at my florist and have already lost 2 flowers I transplanted it in tour mixture with spagnum moss and orchid bark. But it looks like the flowers that are left look like they are going to fall off.
There are glazed orchid pots with holes on the sides and a small reservoir at the bottom that are perfect for this species. I just make sure it stays moist (you are right, they are thirsty!) and it grows and blooms like a weed!
What do you think about full water culture for the Maxillaria tenuifolia ? Mine looks exactly like yours: dehydrated. But it has less living roots, cause I think I managed to suffocate the root system with an inadequate and probably overwatered bark + sphaignum moss mix. It's growing new pseudobulbs on top of the older ones, and two basal shoots, which gives me hope ! But I'm a little lost with the needs of this orchid. PS: to me it smells like white chocolate =)
I rescued it from whole foods it was on the brink of no return no leaves no bulbs no roots and obviously no flower... I have her un-potted and water her every day and she's pretty low maintenance except for the watering daily
The psusobulbs have always been VERY wrinkled and seems dehydrated by normal standards despite me watering every day actually 2X daily sometimes... she's never had any psudobulbs which were not totally wrinkle-y so idk if im doing something wrong for her??

I looove my coconut orchid. Mines a little tiny, but I got 3 blooms off of her and they lasted a good couple months. And she smells so good!

I repot my coconut orchid last September, and it just started to grow new root this week.
Beautiful pot. The Maxillaria looked wonderful. Thanks for sharing 🤗🥀
Mine has buds for the first time. Yay!!!
I love her in that pot!! So, so pretty!! And I always love repot videos!!! :) Can't wait to see the greenhouse tour and ALL HALLOWS EVE video, too.
So glad that I bought one because of you! Love the look and the smell is so nice :)
I always thought that this orchid is quite strange looking, but in this pot my opinion is totally changed!
Do you wet your moss before using it for repotting? Also do you use regular sphgnum moss or New Zealand sphagnum moss? Thanks!
Maya brought life to your show.

Hi Dani. What kind is your slow release fertilizer, please?
Hi Danny, i have a question what causes short growth on some of the leaves on a maxillaria tenuifolia?

Can you plant Phals in those self-watering pots?

I have one of these and it climbs like crazy and I don’t know what to do to keep up with it???? How do you keep up with roots half way up on new bulbs
@@saraira I leave the sheathes if I can
Mine is potted in net pot and sphagnum and charcoal... and not as hot as your climate! Still gets dry so fast!

How do you give it a winter rest in self watering?
Hi, I just don’t water 😝
@@MissOrchidGirl that's easy enough haha thank you 🥰
Is this orchid my friend?? First time to see this. Thanks for the information😍😍💚
Yes, this is known as the coconut orchid, due to its scent, it's very easy to grow and it's gorgeous.
Greetings, has anyone had experience with Yamadara orchids? I recently got one and information has been kinda limited, thanks!
How is it doing now? 😚
💗
I have one of these! (I believe)
