The name of the gambling addict sports announcer, Danny Wilson, also factors into a story that Norm told on the Stern Wrap-Up Show. Also, the sketch about the multiple personality woman is basically a remake of a sketch he did with Roseanne on SNL. And he used the name Stan Hooper on multiple SNL sketches. It's funny how Norm has all these names and ideas that persist throughout his career.
Thanks Mike! Norm was and is my all time favorite. He was fearless without trying to be a "warrior" per se. He knew funny and made the jokes he wanted, even when he knew others wouldn't necessarily get it immediately (see the Bob Saget roast). I had the chance to meet him in a post-show meet-n-greet. He was extremely gracious to his fans. For someone I only knew as a performer, I still really miss him.
There was a Norm interview on either Loveline or maybe Carolla's morning show... It was just before the album came out. According to Norm, he'd been working on the album for upwards of a decade to that point. Chris Farley was supposed to be in it. Don't quote me but I think he was supposed to play the Will Ferrell role where he's getting railed in the butt. So it's quite possible that most of this was recorded before Ferrell was huge. I think I remember him saying that he was having trouble finding a distributor as well. Damn... I'll have to try to find that interview.
@@BlindMikeProject that bit with Will Ferrell about the world first gay guys was written for Chris Farley but he passed away. Will filled in so it was probably done 97 98. Will was doing his Harry Carrey so it may have even been before Will Farrell was doing that voice on SNL as Carrey
Another year, another tear for one of the greats.
Another win for the toe!!!
Fun show, you can feel the love for Norm. A great bootleg of his on RUclips is Live in Austin, 2010. A unique Dracula's Restaurant jag.
I always wondered, where did he get his ideas from?
“ Im not part of this!”
Super Dave
Nice pull. That made me laugh.
Gustav Flobert was his inspiration.

Love me some Norm, but this album doesnt showcase his brilliance very well. Theres a reason it isnt talked about often and has middling reviews
A lot of this was recorded 10yrs before it was released
That makes sense

Would love to see a mike birbiglia episode or a mad tv episode
Obligatory Craig Attack
Blind Mike, unrelated to this great episode about Norm but have you ever gotten into Martin Shorts character Jiminy Glick?
Yes. Worth at least a bonus episode
