As someone with anxiety, I also find it reassuring and helps me sleep to watch my friends/family sleeping peacefully if we are in the same room (bc it means that they are safe and comfortable). Victoria has such self control. She could binge watch all of Haikyuu, but she restrains herself for our sake. You're the best. The only reason I didn't binge watch it was because I saw it as it was coming out, so I had no choice but to wait for the next episode each week.

18:56 This scene here may just seem like a cute and funny little part to add in but if you analyze it a little, if you were to stand face to face with an owl, after a while it would start to move its head, bobbing rhythmically from side to side, then forward, then back. All these varied head movements help the owl judge the position and distance of things around it-this owls’ behavior is taught from parent to chicks, demonstrating Bokuto being one of the influencers to Hinata.

the Haikyuu soundtracks really hit different for me, especially Season 1 Volumes 1 & 2 which bring a lot of that nostalgia power. So many of the tracks bring up a lot of emotion for me, especially 大人たち and『欲』which Haikyuu likes to use for emotional settings. And then there are other tracks like 完全未知の司令塔 which I now can only forever remember it as "Suga's theme" because it just sounds like a breath of fresh air and that scene of him first stepping onto the court against Seijoh, immediately changing up the whole team's dynamic with this track playing in the background is so iconic.
akaashi (also called as AGHHAASHI by bokuto), is the one person who stays with bokuto and is a setter. He is bokuto's bestfriend, like they both stay together most of the time and he is the one who understands bokuto the most( like all his moods and stuff)
lol... more like he's bokuto's caretaker. I'm actually surprised that they are often seen together even off the volleyball court/volleyball context, because they are in different years at school. It's probably for narration purposes, still really cute though 😂😂

I don't know if you've seen the OVAs, but they are great if you want more content. They are basically additional episodes (original video animation) giving insight to soem things we don't see during the series. The first season OVA is called Haikyuu: Lev Genzan, it is about Lev joining Nekoma with the cutest team-bonding cameo scene from Karasuno. The second season one is called Haikyuu vs "Akaten" and it is about Kageyama and Hinata while they are studying for the exams so they could attend the Tokyo schools practice camp. You can watch these two already without being spoiled about anything upcoming.

there was one pure smile - after he was brought back from the bench in the match against Aoba Johsai (1x21 or 1x22, i can't remember exactly), and he got to hold the volleyball in his hands again - his face was filled with pure joy and excitement. it was the cutest thing ever 😭😭😭

Kageyama’s meat dance is the point in the show when he felt the most teen boy to me. Being on the same mental wavelength with the hype kids but being completely unversed in expressing joy through body language is truly a perfect moment.
I can not tell you how much I rewatch that scene because I love it so much.

I think a fun little detail that they add is that whenever someone is serving, tsukkishima puts his hands behind his head in case they hit him in the back of it😂

Isn't that rather 'screening' than protecting his head? Many Players do it, to prepare for blocking and make it harder for the defensive players to see the serve. As long as they don't follow other players to intentionally block the player's view of where the ball is served to it's not a foul. Bokuto is hillarious, entirely runs on emotions and wanting to look cool, but his team totally knows how to deal with him. He's a moron, but loveable one.
Yuki Hayashi, Haikyuu's music composer, is a genius. I love his music. I listen it to while studying, needing to hype myself up, or indulging in the feels.

They recycle animations a lot so there is less work to do when animating which is why it looks like some of them make the same dig over and over again. There are really fun edits of these clips being layered and seeing how the uniform or character changes but they hit the ball the same exact way!

Fun fact about Bokuto: he's the captain, but the reason he's not wearing nr. 1 is because he had so much respect for his previous captain that he didn't want to "steal" his number

I think the best part about Bokuto's emo mode is that Fukurodani is so used to it, that they can recognize the signs that he is shutting down. They are so used to playing with him, that they know when he's done. Love that.
Most (4?) of the active players are 3rd years like Bokuto (Akaashi is a 2nd year), so they've been playing together for quite a while. It's great! Love all those boys!

I think in season 1 Kageyama did try to "smile" in episode 22 when he thought about how suga's smile uplifted the team. It totally creeped out the team though xD

The reason Hinata got angry at Kageyama is because he believes so much and so blindly in his setting skills and volleyball that he knows Kageyama can pull the new set off, he just needs to keep trying. So when Kageyama backed down and set an easier ball for Shoyou to hit, he felt like he wasn't confident in himself. Great video btw, love your content!

Another thing that emphasizes Hinata and Kageyama's connection to each other is that before Kageyama set the ball, he heard Hinata's voice in his head, asking for the set. Hinata didn't say anything, the two of them just had a strong connection that Kageyama knew what Hinata was saying and what he wanted.

Bokuto is someone who cares about his performance a lot!! due to him being the 4th best ace across Japan I believe he wants to express that, but he can get caught up if the other team starts gaining a rhythm as seen in that scene. He likes when people notice how good he is so when he messes up he also goes emo mode (sometimes)
what’s really cute is that he eventually grows out of his emo moods!!
I love the scene where Kuroo points out that Kenma looks excited when he watches Shoyo play, it’s like he’s teasing him for having a squish and it makes me giddy
OMG I LOVE THE DUB OF THIS SHOW! It is so hilarious and gives me massive amounts of serotonin. Some parts of it can be rough but i really love the dub. It takes a while to adjust to the english voices but you’ll get used to it.
Not a popular opinion🥲, but Cogs (EP 10) is my fav episode of Haikyuu.

YES! I have the haikyuu ost in the background all the time, makes even programming the most mundane thing feel like im actually saving humanity. As a heads up, OST wise, some of the best soundtracks are yet to come so i'm hyped about those too.
Yuki Hayashi has done an amazing job with the ost and i feel like the soundtrack is one of the best things about the anime and really elevates the crucial scenes to the next level.
I'm still surprised that Bokuto's whole "moment" speech to Tsukki last episode had ZERO reaction from her.
Makes me wonder if the you-know-what scene will have any impact on her as well...

The shot of Kageyama and Hinata holding their fists out to Yachi is sooo cute to me, they're such an adorable trio. Like they both recognise how much care she had for their training and relationship that she'd mediate between them and initiate their practices when they felt too awkward to say the first word. It's like they were dedicating that quick attack to her as thanks. They have such adorable chemistry as a trio.

The smile that you showed us is from season one. Its after kageyama got subbed out in the match against seijoh (the team with the kpop setter) for Suga and everyone saw how refreshing + kind he was and how he handed out lots of compliments and Hinata told Kageyama that he should try being kind too

If you look in season one, there's a lot of moments where Kageyama is just buzzing with excitement in the background. It's adorable and my heart can't take it.

Ok, but seriously Victoria, on the topic of rewatching Haikyuu in English dub. PLEASE DO IT. It's necessary to watch the show in Japanese with subtitles first to get the full cinematic experience but once you know the plot and have already fallen in love with the characters, I cannot emphasize enough how rewatching it in English is literally comedy central prime content 👌. It's like the entire production and voice acting cast decide to not take anything seriously and speak like real American highschool boys. The lines they deliver are hilarious and make the show even better than it already is.

Rewatching really allows you to see a lot of things and nuances you missed the first time around.

Let me tell you that this moment 34:49 - 35:09 is the most wholesome and my favorite between Kageyama and Hinata :3
