Update: I was provided a document from Nekoyanin which they provide more of their side of the story: docs.google.com/document/d/12566CwlkzjM2OYx77dc-E_xP8EjnCbz9jIFAUEU_mCc/edit?usp=sharing
@@Kananate I spent like a half an hour reading the whole thing. The document provides a ton of screenshots of DMs between Yva and Neko spanning the course of years. The messages start by Yva reaching out to Neko to try to clear the air on copying allegation. Neko responds with empathy and kindness, as well as reiterates that similar ideas or designs does not equate to copying as there are distinct differences between their content AND since they’re both in the anime-makeup niche there is bound to be overlap. Over the months, it devolves into Yva sliding into Neko’s DMs again and again to send passive aggressive messages hinting that Neko is copying. Neko responds by being confused and not understanding the drama, but moves forward with empathy and kindness, again discussing how a few similar videos out of thousands does not equate to direct copying, and that whatever IS similar is no where near intentional. Yva begs Neko to stop the haters from commenting, but Neko responds that she really can’t control what people say on the internet and that she gets hate as well, but she has to just ignore it because people will say what they want to say. Neko reassures Yva that she will put out videos that encourage whoever is watching to be kind and not leave mean comments. Time goes by and Yva goes into Neko’s DMs again with the same complaints, and at this point Neko just doesn’t know what to do because people commenting mean things are quite literally out of her control. Yva responds by making a video outlining all the ways Neko has “copied” her - like using her arm to swatch the graphic eyeliners. Neko responds by saying that arm swatches are common and other creators do it as well. Neko's responses are nothing but empathetic, and even encourage Yva to stand up for herself, and only get defensive towards the end of the document because she had been dealing with it for months, years, at this point. The near-to-end exchanges shows them ending on a note that is somewhat positive, even though Yva made a video accusing Neko of these things. Finally, Yva messages Neko AGAIN with the same complaints and Neko now firmly puts a boundary in place (since everything had been utterly exhausted to address similar content and hate comments) asking Yva to leave her tf alone!!
@@fortunekader9121Thank you so much, Queen / King. I loved the TL;DR, but now I'm more interested in directly reading the drama myself, so I'm going to read it anyway. And it's all thanks to you! ❤ I don't think I would've bothered reading it without seeing your brief first.
"What are the chances that two people had the same idea to drop a palette themed after cats?" Um if you're both basing your makeup on anime tropes, extremely likely?
LIKE FR BRUH. AND THEN THEY TALK ABOUT NEKOYANIN HAVING THE "SAME" BLACK LIPSTICK AS THEM.. E.L.F HAS RELEASED A BLACK LIPSTICK AND LIPGLOSS TOO! SO WHAT ARE THEY GONNA DO NOW? ACCUSE E.L.F OF SUPPOSEDLY "COPYING" THEIR SmAll iNdIE bRaNd?!"
No one is treating the artists as property or servants, it’s just in poor taste in both ways. As a business owner, wyd working with an artist that produces cover art for another person? That feels like it’s a purposeful intent to imitate the products (bc an artist has a distinctive style). And on the artist’s behalf, I understand if you’re freelance working on commission, you take what you can get and choose what’s tolerable. Still, it’s bad business to go work for a competitor when you’re still in partnership with another. Consider instead, that these artists are more like contractors (that’s sort of what they are, though the contract bit is more implied unless they are smart enough to implement otherwise). From what I assume, I don’t think it’s just a one-and-done lump sum commission, but instead that they receive royalties due to the volume of products that are produced with their work.
Reminds me of the Critical Role drama a couple of years ago where some popular dnd content creator accused the podcast of stealing her oc. Her oc in question was a white haired human character named Opal. Like bro.
I used to have a small indie anime-inspired cosmetic line called Osaki Beauty. However, in 2021, a creator named Yva Expressions copied my entire eyeshadow palette, which was inspired by "Black Butler." She essentially took all my ideas while I was sharing a video online.
Oooo on that topic. What do we think about the Vtuber who trade dressed a specific belly dancing pose? Cuz to me it seemed like the vtuber is either very bad at expressing and explaining herself. Or she misunderstood what trade dress actually does/is. But yeah I agree with you. The Ghostie/ghost with cat for tail drama was so fkn weird. But then again it's about what I'd expect from deviant art. From make up brands, not so much. Like how many brown or pink pallets that look pretty much the same can't you see if you just walk into your nearest make-up store
Protogens. Color pallet copying. Pose copying. Copying because horns on head. Yyyyeeeaahhh.. deviantart and tumblr is bad with that. But now it's infecting youtube
lmao not the DA drama It reminds me of some more niche drama: the The Sims modding community with how wild people can get over stuff that they don’t even own, trying to make big money off of textures and meshes for a game where they have zero ownership over the coding and always try to justify how they deserve to be paid several grand a month through Patreon, enough to where they’ll start drama with small mod creators acting like they own colors and shades Some people really don’t know how to read a room with this type of stuff when money is involved.
I don’t even think Neko even accused Yva of stealing, she was just defending herself with the proof and timestamps saying “how could I have stolen from you if I released something before you did?” Anyways stan Neko 🤗
This is why I buy makeup from the actual anime franchises not indie. They literally steal from big names and expect everything to be fine. This is why I am not mad when these idiots get sued by the big dogs.
@@LadyRisaTsuki tbh I don't think of it as stealing. It's kinda a grey area just like doing fan merch, they show their love for the original ips not claiming they invented the ip's concepts or something. If the product is quality and do well it also might help to spead the original ips to a new audience. Minus Yva of coure she's the one who start all this unecessary drama and make indie make up scene look really bad. From what I see so far the other brands just try to defend themself agaisnt her, not try to claim they're original.
@@LadyRisaTsuki nekoyanin is selling and discontinuing art designs and pallete designs based on someone else's art and is now designing her own unique characters for her brand since her brand is becoming more popular and she doesn't want to be involved in the backlash that comes with using heavens official blessing and other animes, manga slash manhwa
Thank you for covering this, there is some time stamps that are wrong but it’s a given cuz I post a lot more 😅 I want to point out that I never claimed to own a specific type of content style it was because I was accused of stealing her content when I in fact made those type of content first. I was just in my own lane doing my own thing out of no where getting accused twice of me copying her and she constantly talks about me stealing her content on livestreams for people to send me hate So I finally had enough and responded. Her comments were turned off on her video because people were questioning her credibility and stating me copying her is a big reach then later she went to her personal insta saying people who are against her is being racist… and then called me a stalker. This whole drama has a alooot depth I can send you all the screenshots of our whole conversation from begining to end because a lot of people kind of got bought in the middle of it
I love your makeup products! I was surprised to see your pallet in the thumbnail, since I get a lot of your shorts in my feed. Hope you're doing okay after this!
I follow you on TikTok and see your videos all the time!!! It's my goal to be able to buy some of your products. Don't give Yva the time of day anymore.
wait hii, im such a big fan, i really want ti buy some of your makeup -i dont even like anime, its because its such good quality. - you helped inspire me to try start a small business, i love all your content!
Yva Expressions made this claim last year about Neko and they talked it out. Yva also apparently accused at least two other makeup brands of copying her as well. I’m sorry but Yva is out of line about everything.
Pathetic really is the perfect word here. Literally none of these items were the same. The lipgloss was KINDA close but not really at all, still totally diff packaging vibe. Like did they expect everyone to stop using tubes for their lippies just because they used them for a couple products?
I wonder what she would do if the authors and companies that own all the anime IP being used to market this product send a cease and desist. Since she wants to claim everything is copied. The reason why there are so many anime inspired indie product's, is because the creators and companies in charge allow the fans to create and earn.
@@calmandfree Funny enough, this is why anime makeup companies are moving away from themed IP type stuff and are trying to go with original artwork. Stuff has been starting to get quite spicy in the space
Yva's claims screams projection tbh, Neko literally promotes dupes for her own products because she's aware for some they are out of reach, she seems like someone who just wants to share her passion with people.
I used to have a small indie anime-inspired cosmetic line called Osaki Beauty. However, in 2021, a creator named Yva Expressions copied my entire eyeshadow palette, which was inspired by "Black Butler." She essentially took all my ideas while I was sharing a video online.
Nekonyanin is actually pretty transparent about her business practices. She also doesn't tend to baselessly accuse others. She literally said "I don't own coffins," when someone told her about E.L.F. releasing a coffin lip set. She doesn't tend to come for others, but she will defend herself if others come for her.
i remember that! she responded many times to customers claiming that another brand copied her, and always said she doesn’t own *insert theme or shape* she never accused anyone of anything, she didn’t even say that Yva stole anything from her, simply pointed out that she did some of the things Yva accused of her stealing she did first Neko is actually such a gem tbh Yva had no business coming for her
Also Neko shows every step of her projects. The fruit jam lip glosses were almost a year in the making. You can't claim someone is coping you when they have timestamps going back months.
Gonna be so fr... Nekoyanin at least knows how to work with the colour stories.. Other creator has high saturation and it doesn't feel like the palettes go together as smoothly..
Was thinking the same thing the whole video. In my opinion the only thing accomplished by this callout was showing how everyone else was like 10x better at what they do
That’s fair to think. I know she has the high saturation so it works with melanated skin. For the guardian palette you’re not supposed to use them together, but as individual toppers or a “one look”. Though yeah with the high pigmentation I can see it being intimidating to people.
I used to have a small indie anime-inspired cosmetic line called Osaki Beauty. However, in 2021, a creator named Yva Expressions copied my entire eyeshadow palette, which was inspired by "Black Butler." She essentially took all my ideas while I was sharing a video online.
I dont think nekoyanin was saying she owned the video concepts at all. She was basically saying 'okay yva if you want to accuse me of copying your videos then we'll do it your way' and then backed it up with dates of who did the video ideas first.
This isnt copying at all. Theyre both anime makeup brands, there is so may tropes you can follow. If it was REAL duping, and actual makeup thing, the packaging would be the same or near indistinguishable but this is 100% NOT duping in the slightest. @RobertWelsh has a few good videos on product duping and it all points out how this isnt duping in the slightest.
Sorry, but no. Duping has *_nothing_* to do with packaging. It is not about the exterior of a product. Instead, it’s just called straight up “copying” when the packaging is the exact same (or very similar), down to box, colors, art, etc. lol. Much like how Makeup Revolution does with products by releasing Urban Decay NAKED-esque palettes and straight up copying high-end brands down to packaging colors and fonts on them. I am not saying that copying is what either of these brands discussed in the video did, but it is not considered a “dupe” solely over packaging as that muddies what a “dupe” actually even is (which is NOT meant to be a negative …) Yes, we’re absolutely going there with a long post, because anyone that is passionate about this stuff with makeup knows it’s become an issue recently with that word and how it’s wrongly used. _Duping_ is all about formulation and shade, even Robert has gone over this many times before (so it’s not fair to twist his words because he makes it clear on what makes something a dupe or just outright copying) - it’s the act of finding an alternative for something that is similar, often within a cheaper price range (but not always!), that has the same color payoff and longevity as something more popular. Go see old RUclips videos of the beauty community in the early 2010s when the term became popularized and used for makeup to see how the word was never about any sort of packaging or just “copying”. Indie brands rose to prominence solely for being known for making dupes, even. Anyone remember the NARS Orgasm blush and MAC Ruby Woo lipstick? We had so many indie brands coming out with their own version and was even proud to be called a dupe for them. Even LimeCrime, also an indie brand back then, had _OTHER_ indie brands making dupes of their stuff so people could buy a product with similar color payoff and longevity without giving money to a crappy owner. Duping and being known as a dupe is a GOOD thing, just see the once popular website: Temptalia (posted reviews and dupes). That word had been turned and twisted a lot recently to somehow including packaging and to mean “copying” as a negative when that is not what it entails at all. Yes, it is very important to make that distinction and use the word correctly because there are a lot of beloved indie brands from over the years that rely on being known as making dupes of high end brands at lower costs that are being painted negatively as just being “””copycats””” in recent years due to a wave of people not understanding the difference between copying a formula/shade and outright copying everything to basically mislead consumers into thinking it’s exactly the same as the original … So, technically, in the regard on what a dupe actually is, the two brands mentioned in this video _absolutely_ can even be considered dupes of *each other* … because that’s what it means. They’re very similar and bounce off of one another in terms of formulation and shades. The thing is, they’re also dupes of _other_ brands and products that came before them as no one owns lipgloss shades, eyeshadow colors, water-activated liners and gel, etc. and no one owns the anime aesthetic for packaging in that regard. They are _both_ indie dupes of more established and older makeup brands, and that’s totally fine. Nothing is unique in the sense of owning it and having it be exclusive to one sole brand. Something has undoubtedly been done before by someone else. The only thing that should matter to anyone in the indie game is maintaining consistency with your products that results in maintaining a consistent consumer base that will purchase said products. All these back-and-forths about “well they copied this person, this brand copied my brand, this aesthetic was mine and they took it, that brand is unoriginal because they do stuff I do, etc.” is so utterly pointless at the end of the day. If anything, these two brands should collab due to their similarities. Imagine how cool that would actually be instead of this weird beef over “”copying””. Main focus is that we have really got to stop using the word “dupe” to refer to packaging and straight up copying as if being associated with being a dupe is a negative. Again, that is not what it means and it didn’t change. People are just using it wrong lol. There *is* a difference between it all. Edit: cleaned up wording and grammar, tried to explain things better
The SPREADSHEETS!!! I agree, they likely share a manufacturer, but that wasn't the sole issue. It was reach after reach that stands on shaky ground. I can't speak on Yva, but Neko gives near weekly updates on their product process, making it harder to accuse her of copying when she's actively seeking customer feedback (like how we told her to keep the charms for the jam packaging). Even if she didn't, the product time gaps and appearances breaks the argument entirely.
When I first came across them I thought they shared a manufacturer, who has an inhouse design team. When looking for manufacturers even for things like diaries - I've seen the same art style on alibaba
I used to have a small indie anime-inspired cosmetic line called Osaki Beauty. However, in 2021, a creator named Yva Expressions copied my entire eyeshadow palette, which was inspired by "Black Butler." She essentially took all my ideas while I was sharing a video online.
I have the Nekoyanin black lipgloss set, Yva's is no where near the same, Neko's is supposed to be almost a liquid lipstick and comes in matte and gloss. I've also been a Neko shopper for a long heckin time and I have never seen Yva's stuff til recently (it being suggested to me now) They both have similar ideas being the anime inspired themes. What's the first thing you think of when you think "Cute Anime" Usually cat girl right? I think Yva is really reaching with this and its not a good look
See this is what I was thinking too, I had never heard of Yva until today, like at all. Genuinely not trying to be rude to them, but none of this was copied xD
I do think Yva is reaching and being too sensitive about the shared concept. That being said, just wanted to say Yva also isn’t brand new and has been around for a few years now. She does have nice products and I swear by the blush quad but this really put me off the brand.
whats sad is ive shopped with both and i love both. Ive been in love with both for the past 2ish years. Seeing Yva mess up everything for some clout is just…
@@thxwanderer same I think she’s also reaching BUT I will stand by her quality. Neko’s quality is SO bad and I don’t know why more people don’t call her out on it. She’s already been accused of selling aliexpress. I bought products from both creators and yeah Neko’s stuff was straight up unusable and the makeup bag tore from being so cheap, whereas I had none of those issues with Yva. I just wish she didn’t bring this kind of drama as it won’t benefit her brand
It's giving, "Everyone should stop producing items from the same niche so I can prosper." Most people that like to draw don't just give up because someone else has a similar art style nor do they try to stop others.
Picture their horror when they discover that other brands also do... pink blush! and and cat themed eye shadows! I just don't really get what this person is getting at. Sure they do similar products, but it's make up. It only differs so much
@@B3114RR1XI would. It would mean she was the kind of narcissist who had some self-awareness and decided to seek help. She does not seem to show that.
if you read her comment you’ll see why this is even here at all lol. she addresses it not because she is the accuser but she’s trying to defend what she’s doing. the creator that “copied” is because she released these items first and the other creator accused her of copying her, SEVERAL times, trashed her on the lives rather than just did her job, and was profiting off of it because the other person beat it to the punch. The entire slideshow is them addressing it saying it’s unfair they’re “copying” when in reality they’re very different, because they’re just trying to take them down. this creator supposedly also made a private community where they could post things about her and call anyone who didn’t support the false creator that’s accusing her of copying “racist.” it’s just crazy and it feels like the person who made this video is clearly leaving out a lot of parts to the story which will only stress out the person being accused more.
Omg so true I really feel bad for her, plus, she explained why moon goddess "looks like" that girl's brand, she's so sweet and I know we can't exactly have a 100% idea of what happens behind the scene but I really appreciate Neko's transparency with us... That girl really pissed me off, I know as a business owner, and especially when in freelance, it's sometimes annoying to see other brands having the same ideas, but c'mon, ofc you're gonna get some similar results at some point when working around the same tropes omg
Honestly, I'm on Nekoyanin's side just because I've never seen her tearing down someone even when they did copy her. She's highlighted dupes and talked up other creators rather than trying to push everyone out of the space. The maturity just makes all the difference for me.
As a business owner and artist, I can say that this is not as big an issue as Yva Expression's claims. They both love anime and makeup, and frankly, I like both their brands but for Yva to claim Neko is 'copying' is ridiculous. Of course you'll have similar tastes....YOU'RE AN ANIME INSPIRED MAKEUP BRAND. There's only so many tropes you can use, and it's not like Neko (a bigger creator btw) is blatantly copying formulas, packaging, and or marketing....in business that's how that works (people have overlapping ideas and release their products whenever they want). I really hope Yva Expressions doesn't take a cheap approach to the 'controversy' and makes herself a 'victim' simply because she can't handle criticism.
THIS OMFG. small businesses seem to forget that they are in the same kind of competitive marketing as big businesses, small businesses are going to follow similar trends as eachother, JUST like big businesses. Its not stealing an idea unless its copying EVERYTHING. I just wish small businesses would realize that their are going to be similar overlapping ideas and its not copying.
This has actually been an issue with neko going on for years, and she is well known in that niche of the indie industry for theft. She will become friends with smaller creators then steal their private ideas. Her specific theft is actually well known and documented by multiple ppl, and Yva isn't the only one she's just the only person who came out about it publicly. Most other creators try to block Neko now to prevent her taking ideas from them, and most of her ideas are actually direct rips from the ideas of smaller creators. They aren't guessing either, they were all friends with neko and know for a fact she got the ideas from them. A lot of the anger actually comes because Neko has a larger following and it's also resulted in a lot of smaller creators who came up with ideas first being attacked by neko's following for "copying". She literally got into in dms from another creator and based her water activated liners off someone else and ppl have tried to cancel the smaller creator for "copying" Neko even tho she not only had the products made first, but they also were advertising a specific way that Neko copied as well. Neko is also known for dming creators and buying products only to shortly after produce something that's almost identical and she starts naming/advertising the same way the original brand did.
@@mywingsareyours You say it's well documented but I've yet to see anything besides Yva - a person who's gone around claiming others of copying multiple times yet has super weak evidence. Searching specifically for this information, the only brand that comes up that mentions Neko copying them is @HexBabyBeauty. They claim Neko copied their video format. Unfortunately for her, you can't copyright claim or own a format style. Even if you could, showing off water activated liners on an arm at that angle isn't new. Soooo...please provide a source with evidence on how Neko copied from other brands? Hexbabybeauty doesn't drop any other names except for Yva. There was also a fan account for Yva that posted a video claiming the same thing but ALSO didn't drop any names. Haven't been able to find anyone else upset with Neko. (Edited for better clarification because jesus fuck was I tired when I wrote this.)
I think Neko brought up the video copying because Yva was claiming she copied her, otherwise Neko wouldn’t have claimed Yva was copying the video styles. I don’t think Neko actually believes she owns the concept of making videos unboxing and boxing orders, etc
Nekoyanin can acknowledge other brand similarities and openly tells why tis happened: they both work in the same nishe. On the other hand we have Yva, who throws accusations left and right, "you stole my content" even when she did it later and screams about how everyone should stop copying her. It's really dumb. And Nekoyanin isn't even the first brand she accused of copying her. This was her THIRD time. When everyone around you is copying you, you are not as original as you thought. And denying it only proves that this person has 0 self reflection. I also highly doubt that SO much people were pointing out how similar the brands are. I'm just convinced that she doomscrolled tik tok on her private account and saw Nekoyanin video and got mad.
Nekoyanin is such a sweetheart. Her products are good quality and I will continue to buy from her. She’s also explained how sometimes people have the same manufactures. Also… just because the pallet is similar does not mean it’s a copy
my girl nekoyanin CANNOT catch a break. the best way to support her is to buy her make up, they are so cute and highly pigmented. i have her lip mud and i use it as blush, eyeshadow and for my lips. i even got some of her make up for my friend’s birthday
@@its_mayyso far i’ve only purchased her lip products (lip mud & lip stain) and they’re so much better than drug store make up mainly because it’s transfer-proof and pigmented & long lasting. i highly recommend! can’t say much about the palettes since i’ve never tried 😅
Shock of all shock makeup brands that revolve around anime are gonna share similar themes Didnt a similar "copying" situation happen with a makeup brand themed around bakery stuff?
huda beauty copied a small businesses entire brand concept while huda having an arabian desert type theme to her, huda also copied the photos and the product this is just 2 makeup brands with the exact same concept when huda and the small brand did not and was huda stealing from the small business
huda beauty used the entire style of Beauty Bakerie for one of their releases. BB’s whole thing is all based in baking; “flour” setting powder, egg carton beauty blenders, lip “whips” for lipstick…you get the idea. but it even came down to pictures and marketing…they did a near exact marketing launch for it the beauty bakerie has always had. huda can absolutely do baking/kitchen inspired products, but instead of using new or different parts of baking/being in the kitchen, they used the exact same concepts for almost all of their products the BB has been doing since they released makeup. that whole thing did actually feel like huda ripped off a small brand and copied them for nearly everything
Oooh my brand is in the video! Also a disclaimer with making products is that even if it’s a different manufacturer, they all catch trends at the same time and mass send out samples to all the businesses they work with. So I can definitely see why it’s possible to come out with the same product at the same time with another brand when it’s a stock product. I know you touched on this a little in the video. I’ve been friends with both of them since they started, we started our businesses around the same time (nekoyanin starting about half a year later) so when this drama first started I didn’t really understand why it was happening when we can support each other’s endeavors. It’s never right copying someone exactly but in their case there was never that. I felt for Yin because she tries her best to tip toe around the idea of not copying but similar things are bound to happen when they’re all in the same niche. That’s like saying one crochet flower business is copying another because they both made roses. I see in all the comments on their videos of people being very supportive of both of their businesses so this drama was very unnecessary on Yva’s end to come up in the first place. I understand negative comments can hurt the business but why not just explain to the people that there are so many more differences than similarities rather than attacking another business for what other people say :( it felt like a mess overall. Hoping all of this drama dies down and not have more people dragged into it like how you and I were blocked for even commenting a “what’s going on comment”when this first started happening
Yva made an alt account and started doubling down on Nekoyanin's videos that included clear records of her ideas mostly coming first, and how different a lot of the accused products actually are between each brand. it was so unnecessary and immature.
I even stated to Yva to just keep working on her own beautiful work. And trying to sue Yin wasn’t going to go anywhere especially since both use IPs for their products that I’m sure can be copyrighted. Best not to rock the boat too hard especially when it comes to law. The makeup market is very over saturated so similar ideas are going to happen.

I have followed them both on tiktok and i considered buying Yva products but knowing what she did to Nekoyanin bothers me. Nekoyanin is such a sweet person. She doesnt usual bother anyone and is just trying to make cute make up.
@@rowdyruffy I think she is bothered because she is doing the same niche but not getting enough attention for her products. What made me hesitant to buy her products before this drama was the colors. Some sort of clash in alot of her eyeshadow pallettes. The colors are vibrant but alot of them don't go together. My favorite eyeshadow is nekoyanins horror pallette. I recommend it to everyone. well that and the hopes and dreams lipstick/gloss set.
This video showed me how the Neko girl uses color shades that go well together, blend well together, and fit her theme better. The colors all look smooth; no particular color is screaming at me for attention.
They look so buttery and high quality too! Most of them match that certain expectations we have when we see certain products.. especially the agyeo sal pens, lip muds, liquid eye shimmers... i think her main focus is bringing douyin products or inspired by them to the Western audience
It shows the difference between the secure and insecure. Nekoyanin is very secure in her brand, when she says that she doesnt mind when people copy or take inspiration, bcus it means her product is good. Meanwhile yva is insecure in her brand, quick to point fingers at other for copying. I think its something she could grow from though, and become more confident in her brand
I’m at 28:35 and so far… it’s hard to trust yva when she started blasting others claiming they copied her, and then saying “nuh-uh it’s common” when others call her out…
She’s so two faced oh my god. Can dish it but can’t take it. Tries to publicly call people out behind their backs but then when actually confronted she acts like it’s all been only good will and good intentions. The worst kind of creator there is
I got so annoyed when she got so upset due to people accused her copying and reacted to that by blantantly accuse other people of copying her. Calling them out publicly first without prior private discuss then try to water it down, act nice and sunshine in dm. So weird
IKRRRRR as soon as someone calls her out it's all a "common experience in indie brands" but if someone has LINEART on a GENERIC TUBE its stealing and she was GENEROUS?? to let it slide
Yva needs to grow up fr. This isn’t copying or stealing ideas. They both create anime inspired makeup. If anything there’s proof of Yva copying Neko…ngl I feel like she does want the drama🤣

I'm sorry but yva's attitude is HORRIBLE. She's going down an entire spiral with each and everyone of these people. Neko didn't say that yva copied her. She said she posted it first and then yva did. To prove that how would she copy yva if she did it first. Yva just wants attention. Probably make these accusation the make herself seem more sympathetic and get everyone on her side. And yva's makeup doesn't even look good. Her white ink pens were streaky asf. And she wiped off the stamp eyeliner before so of course it isn't gonna transfer. You wiped it off!! Anyways. Thank you for coming to my ted talk🤓👆🏼 Edit: neko NEVER said she own those concepts so that point you keep making doesnt make sense. She even WELCOMED people being inspired by her or copied from her
I'm speaking from someone who is a fashion designer: in fashion, you can't copyright designs. You can copyright specific patterns but you can't copyright designs. A lot of this is 100% because theyre both appealing to the same audience with the same aesthetics. And again, they're building their businesses off of IPs - "anime" inspired means you cannot claim someones copying you if you do the same project. "This is inspired by Sailor Moon" means no matter what you do you will be overlapping. I think it's more a failure of the business as a whole... your designs are intrinsically going to be bound to the source. Originality cannot co exist with boxing yourself with the source material
This is giving me flashbacks of people in the art community accusing others of copying them because they used a similar pose or colours. Also the audacity to claim that they are stealing "her" tubes when they all get them from a bulk-seller lmaoo. If she wants to play itt that way Kiki Cosmetics should be up her ass for "stealing" the pink cap idea
Oh my god the deviantart pose theft saga 100% yes. Every single color of a makeup product that can be done HAS been done, to think you can claim the sole ownership of a black lip product is ridiculous. Go online and you’ll find hundreds if not thousands of other black lippies. How DARE she also create another 4 pan blush palette and how dare the blush be … pink and red and purple ….normal blush colors. Like I get that she wants to be unique but the makeup industry is already a pretty oversaturated market there’s a limit to what you can do that hasn’t already been done
I used to have a small indie anime-inspired cosmetic line called Osaki Beauty. However, in 2021, a creator named Yva Expressions copied my entire eyeshadow palette, which was inspired by "Black Butler." She essentially took all my ideas while I was sharing a video online.
Okay I'm one of the brands being accused in this video and she's honestly been blocked for like four years , so out of sight out of mind. I don't know why she accused me. Also, artist are human beings and shouldn't be tossed around like that but I can understand the frustration of someone using the same artist as you for the same niche you're in. Still doesn't make it okay to treat them like that. I watched this entire video and the accusations were so unnecessary. It sucks both are getting hate but at this point just block and continue working on yourself
@@margierusnak8243 yeah, I’ve also gone back on tiktok to confirm I wasn’t imagining this. Her wisteria palette was demon slayer inspired. Wild card and joker palette explicitly said it was kakegurui (and same uniform). Magical glow palette was sailor moon with extra accessories and slightly dif hair style. At your service palette was black butler. The similarities with the art on these palettes to the animes is what yva would call nekoyanin copying. Does yva think it’s okay because she said it was inspired by?? Of course these are all palettes she doesn’t sell anymore but it doesn’t change that she did it.
@@crashharmonyroberson5076she doesn’t have those products anymore but nekoyanin STILL has copyrighted products from our an Highschool host club? Sailor moon, attack on Titan, Wednesday, my dress up darling, etc NOW WHAT?
Honestly, it's hard not to copy another brand due to sourcing. There are only so many companies that offer different containers or products. It comes down to the artwork on the packaging. ☝️🤓
And color palettes! Every single color palette has been done. Of course you’re going to run into similarities with color! Obviously if pinks browns reds and blacks are the most popular lip & eyeshadow colors, you’re going to use them if you want your product to sell.
I don't think Nekoyanin is trying to claim that YVA stole the concept of opening inventory / return packages 17:59 I believe Nekoyanin was trying to say that she did those videos first, and then noticed that YVA started doing it shortly after. She only brought it dup is YVA was accusing Nekoyanin of stealing HER content, and Nekoyanin saying that she didn't, she was doing it a while before but noticed YVA was doing it afterwards. I believe that Nekoyanin was indeed trying to hint at the fact that YVA might be taking ideas from her in terms of content, even if it's been a common thing on tiktok, she might have felt that YVA was watching her closely and taking inspo a little too much... I don't think Neko had an issue with it, she just wanted to rebuttal YVA when she said "you stole my content", even when it jot might be the case on either side.
💯 😂 yes & they’re ripping off other IP like attack on titan. They don’t own that! Imagine u make an Encanto palette then claim ppl copy it. Bro wut!? 🙃 they haven’t made anything that can be protected by IP law
I won’t lie I think it’s pushing it they both do the same type of makeup. If u thinking about it. Every big makeup brand copie each other for just putting out pink blush
The four-paneled blush palette thing is ridiculous. Every makeup retailer sells blush palettes and having 4 shades is incredibly common. Why didnt she accuse elf or nyx for selling blush palettes with 4 shades? Because everything in makeup has already been done before and will continue to be done if it can sell.
Ok, from the sounds of it… Yva is kinda trying to be the “king of the hill” when it comes to anime-inspired cosmetics by attacking and bullying other makeup up brands that do anime makeup. Because let’s be real, a 4 pan blush, sparkling eyeshadows, and a mirror in the eyeshadow shadow pallet are NOT original concepts. And yeah, having a neko/cat pallet when you are an anime-inspired makeup company is… not surprising (especially since one of them is named NEKO). Yva is reaching because she wants to be number one. She could have helped others with collabs-but nah.
"star guardian" can't be copyrighted.... it's like trying to copyright "witch", it's a common theme. Also, copyright goes by category...one brand having copyright over a word in clothes doesn't apply to food for example (unless they registered in it.. as big companies do)
Yeah that won't really work. Not even Marvel and DC managed to get stuff like that copyrighted, the courts pretty much just told them they were being really silly and to get over it or solve it themselves. Same thing with this
Only at the start but make up feels very saturated and when you add anime on top of it, the likely overlap will be high. Especially when you consider the fact that people in the same niche and community will be inspired by the same thing. Its very common for people to have the same idea...
Like if you think of anime obviously you’re going to think of senpais, magical girls & catgirls, how is it so surprising that you’d both make a product on something extremely relevant to the anime community 😭
Yva may seem sweet, but her coming after so many other people and accusing them of stealing incredibly basic and popular concepts... thats kinda ridiculous. But then others saying Yva copies video formulas that are incredibly common ? But also, why did Yva block you ?? This whole drama is painfully stupid. The timeline you made is amazing I'm so sorry you went through all this
Neko only brought that up to riff at Yva's antics, showing how stupid it is to try and claim a concept. Yva accused her of stealing broad concepts in makeup theming, so she showed Yva "copying" her videos to show how ridiculous it is to say stuff like that when you do exactly what you are condemning, using concepts you saw others do successfully
That creator, to me, looks like a conspiracy theorist. Honestly? I can understand what she thinks she feels, but she pissed me off so much by going around and accusing everyone of "NoT BeInG oRiGiNaL" when, c'mon, you're not entitled to the anime makeup brand... She's just making a fool of herself AND gives me narcissist vibes. May it not be true, she actually makes me not want to support her anyways. I know I also might just be subjective because I love Nekoyanin and that girl is just so sweet I feel bad for her to be attacked like that when, honestly, she's just as creative if not even more than that annoying BO.
It makes her seem immature and it’s honestly just horrible PR. Like girl…. Good job, now whenever people search your for your brand they’ll also see how you accused everyone of copying you. Like you really went out of your way to showcase how rude and unprofessional you are and for what…
i feel like this is saying, "arianna grande stole my hairstyle!! i always put my hair up in a high ponytail and she probably saw my post on wednesday and she decided to be unoriginal and copy me! she thinks she can do this because she has a bigger following" like, a ponytail is a subjective thing and nobody owns it??
@@damnbro_idcok but that tiktoker has literally been cosplaying as her since 2018… copying her Cat Valentine persona, pretending to be her for viral videos with some popular RUclipsr, and has recently started an only fans where she continues to dress and try to look like Ariana… which is just wrong? like imagine any other celebrity impersonator - especially ones that do it as a job, like that girl has been (since she’s getting paid for her content on yt and tiktok) as much as i dislike Ariana i’m actually on her side for this one
The obly similarity is "theme" and cats, moon, skulls are probably the most used themes in everything even outside of anime... and same for neko and magic girl for anime... sorry Yva but you don't own UNIVERSAL concepts Also Neko didn't claimed Yva copied her, but the show of similar videos been done by yva after she made them, it's more to show the kind of person that is Yva... and the way Yva behaves in dms with Neko and other content creators, and the fact she blocked you, yeah, this is a case of an attention seeker... I'm sad, bc I rly likes Yva's content, but I can't stand narcissists
They are not copying each other they both have the same concepts that is not copying. A concept is not a single persons; everyone has similar ideas the execution of the concept is what is yours. I’m a graphic designer; I have my clients sign an agreement that states … you can take your concept to a different artist but you can not take my representation of your concept to a different designer to base they’re design off of. ☝️🤓
If this involves Nekoyanin imma cry bro, I love her makeup Small edit: Changing some things up about my comment: Ive been watching Nekoyanin and correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see how she copied this girl's stuff. The only one I saw similar like Nekoyanin said was the lip oil. A lot of people can have the same ideas and stuff and tbh I am just majorly confused. I am still early in the video, so please bear w/ me here. Both makeup brands look beautiful
in my opinion the yva person was just mad the other brand was more popular and expected this to blow up in their favor and get them more sales. the text messages were so…yikes, if anything, acting like that (somehow not expecting anyone to expose it) is only gonna make people hate her more or stop buying from her and support the bigger (and smaller?) brands she was accusing of copying instead. just like kat said, the similarities were pretty much because they are both tiktok businesses essentially, even i know that app has different format trends that come and go and different type of showcases and products trends. (painting the whole arm, the liner glue, product packing/designing, etc; and im not even on there. so idk what this person was thinking ‘coming out’ with all of this like a victim, especially when she was in the dms (i think that other brand was smaller than her?) acting like that, harassing them and whining at them throwing a literal tantrum for copying over and over like come on bro- all while knowing they use a manufacturer, the audacity. embarrassing. (kat i hope u do more of these long form videos, even though i know its a lot more effort- i really love them. i didn’t even realize it was until i was an hour in and was so happy about it) also, the only thing that gets me to use emojis: ☝️🤓 (keep doing this i love it)
this makes me so sad bcus nekoyanin is literally the sweetest girl ever. I was there since the start of her business really and she used to hold so many tiktok lives to promote and show herself hand packing every single order and she would talk to every single one of us. she really is the sweetest and no one business should own a certain product or a concept. they r both based on ANIME inspired makeup.. no one exclusively OWNS the right to make anime inspired makeup. yva doing too much. thank god i never bought from her cus dang.
25:20 she made possibly the dumbest response here actually… she essentially told people to go hate on nekoyanin by assuming and stating that neko is copying her?? if yva really wanted to coexist she would’ve pointed out the fact that they have a similar brand concept or just say they arent copying each other! theres no point in dishing out ur suspicions in the comments without maybe talking to the person you’re suspecting?? its just so stupid especially because the similar concepts cause them to have similar markets!
Made it to the end with a tinfoil hat 😂 100% agree with the likelihood of having the same manufacturer and mostly coincidence. It’s a huuuuuge stretch to call any of it “copying”
Honestly in my opinion i feel like YVA is being incredibly unreasonable, i mean, why would you think that because someone has a product SLIGHTLY similar to yours that theyre copying you. I might just be biased because i love Nekoyanin but she is actually so sweet and never accuses anyone of copying her. Like, you can really tell that YVA is inscure about her products while Neko is confident about hers.
I was looking into making my own makeup. There are many factories selling same package/storage. So unless you produce your own unique shaped package, it will look similar. All small sellers are doing same thing....only difference is their name.
To me they aren't copying, lemme tell you I wanted to buy from both in the future just haven't done so. The glitter palettes are different themed one is clearly a Manhwa theme with the more pastel colors, and the other one is magical girl anime palette where is a Bright colors. If they are calling out this seller may as well call out Rude Cosmetics as they also have alot of anime theme makeup that can be overlapping this seller too, but guess what they aren't because Rude cosmetic is a larger makeup brand, which why I bought up this brand because they also have cat girl theme palette with a cat shape mirror too with a anime girl too. Like you can do the same thing and people will buy it as they want to collect it because of the theme, colors and so on.
Haven't watched yet, but: Nekoyanin and the other person most likely have the same supplier. Nekoyanin is very open with the process of choosing her packaging and how she gets it ^^
Neko can't catch a gd break, she's constantly having to defend herself. Fun fact, she's even showed "dupes" of her own products for people who have had difficulty purchasing her products due to financial struggles, that's how chill she is. If only others could be so chill 🙄 these aren't even copies, she's even come out with some of these before Yva, Neko's color stories make more sense in her palettes. Some people just can't stand others' success.
Exactly! She is so sweet and open minded. And her products are much more ’complete’ and thorough. Like her color palette and design schemes match and complement each other. And she always tries her best to get the best formulas and products. Her stuff just feels more high quality. But she even suggests replacements for those who can’t afford them
I honestly had NO IDEA until today that Nekoyanin was dealing with this drama… i love her stuff and am buying from her right now so she can at least profit from all this hate
I remember seeing Yva Expression on shorts and at the time I was surprised that not many people asked about the comparison to Nekoyanin. I was already following Nekoyanin at the time for a while at that point and she tends to post about the manufacturing process of her products and shows the samples she gets and errors that happen along the way. While, yeah, it was similar in theme because they're both anime inspired makeup, I didn't think the color stories were similar with some pallets or it would be a similar theme but on different products. The only thing that tripped me up was the Magical Guardian releases on both of their pages since they were both glitter pallets and at first glance were released close to each other (correct me if I'm wrong). At the same time, it's not that similar since they use different art for their products, and Nekoyanin's was chunky glitter with a gel/waterproof base, while Yva Expressions' was a soft duo chrome eyeshadow. Regardless, I'm a bit biased since I was already following Nekoyanin for awhile. And I don't think this could be considered copying just because they have similar themes sometimes. Also, they both have a range of different product from each other so if you take the theme out of the picture, they have very different products in some cases. (Excluding that lip oil) Almsot forgot the ☝️🤓
they definitely have the same manufacturer, I think your tinfoil theory isn't so tinfoil and it's exactly what it happened LOL. both of them are fighting but the manufacturer is the one profiting in the end
neko responded and omg SHE and OTHER bussines were the ones being copied, so glad she stood up for herself, beucause managing a small bussines is already hard, and seeing other "coworker" whom you expect to understand first hand how hard is for you to keep going.. wow. some people think they can lie and nothing's gonna happen for being this or that race already, but not only that, she now uses the excuse of "i'm a small bussines" to NOT deal with the consequences of HER OWN actions
Talking about manufacturers, neko seems to have kind of a good relationship with them. Pretty sure I watched a short recently of her unboxing a package from the manufacturer where they not only sent her the product samples, but also gifts for neko! I’m not saying they’re close friends, but it could be a potential reason why she could get her product samples free
I always find it so funny how these indi anime makeup brands are always fighting. When theyre going to the same manufacturers, same selection of formulas, same selection of colors, same selection of packaging and just slapping their branding and art on it. And all of them are either getting dangerously close too breaking copyright law or full blown breaking copyright law as well. So the whole "yOuRe CopYiNg Me" complaining is so funny.
This is actually a average situation within the make-up beauty sphere. Regardless if it was anime inspired or not. This happens _frequently_ simply because there's only so many color combos you can create.
Thats not dropshipping though. Dropshipping would be selling these containers absolutely the same they got them for a higher price. What these creators do id just buying parts.
People don’t own a concept or swatching style! Packaging would only be a compelling argument if the component was completely custom and not the stock tubes. Nekoyanin handles the situation with far more grace, even boosting other indie brands! Yva just comes off as a toddler going “we both like princesses she’s copying me!”
28:24 ok but can we aknowledge how hypocrital from Yva to say all that?? she literally accused Neko of stealing THESE EXACT THINGS, and when Neko turned around and said “nope, i did them first” while *never* actually accusing Yva of stealing, Iva suddenly claims that every small makeup brand does that? where was this energy when YOU DID THE ACCUSATIONS FIRST!!!
unrelated to the topic, but i put this video to listen in the background without the visuals and i just noticed that katliente basically does image descriptions!! i thought that she repeated what images looked like in her videos just to point out differences more clearly, but while listening i realized that she's basically doing the work of an alt text, thats something very nice i dont think ive seen many people who do this :]
It’s the fact that barely any products are ‘original’. All of them are based on already existing tropes, art, and characters. None of it us an original concept
I feel like YVA is forgetting that her brand isn’t original… She’s doing make up based on anime and its tropes. She didn’t make anime, therefore it’s not hers to “own” and be the only one to make products inspired by it
I am actually a big fan of nekoyanin's content! -sorry if I spelt it wrong I don't think either of them copying, I think it is inspired with the packing big orders thing but still, a lot of people did that I find it crazy things that are not even on the same planet are being claimed as copied edit: not to be that person but ty for liking!
I think they have similar manufacturers selling similar products that are trendy…the difference is Neko is more personable and tbh kinder in her approach with fans and customers…even scammers she is kinder lol…with a saturated market i’m sure there will be similar products among different brands but instead of accusing one another i hope she reached out first to the other indie makeup creator and discuss it privately…unless it’s like state-of-the-art makeup not ever seen before with really trademarked formulations i think this should just be healthy competition of which has better products and customer service/marketing…
Honestly I don't think neko talking about the content she made first was her saying she "owned it". I think it was just her proving she didn't copy/rip off her accuser since it would have been impossible
i just dont understand how you can use private label products + packaging and proclaim with ur whole chest that someone else stole ur products 😭like girl i could go on alibaba right now and get the exact same thing. i dont have anything against private label, but if you use private label, and they send you samples, theyre probably sending everyone samples! you arent special, youre a customer! as soon as i saw the drama i was like "they probs just have the same manufacturers and ego i too big to accept that they arent getting some exclusive access to whatever item the company wants to try and market that week." this shit happens all the time 🤓
I am really sad about the drama so far , I am a big supporter of both of those creators and I have brought from both of them . I really hope this can be resolved peacefully without any more drama :/
A brand that sells products with characters, they have no rights to complains that they are copied? Like girl you're quite stealing the artists characters...
if you're talking about the anime on the front i have nothing to say, but if you're talking about the literal artworks it is commissioned meaning the artist get payed for drawing it, it is also cormecially used meaning they have to pay the artist more money
@@HoneyDopamine I mean the characters specifically, for example, Yumeko or Nezuko. These are original characters they have no rights to. In order for it to be legal they would have to contact the owners and buy rights for producing makeup with them.
@@KZ3A actually Nekoyain is discontinuing the products with the existing character she have no rights to . And most of those makeups with the anime characters like Nezuko are when she started and I think she don't really advertise them or more recently. So she changing the packaging to a more original design .
@@KZ3AI remember her addressing that. She said something about not making a certain amount out of those products because if she reaches or exceed that amount, she could get in trouble for copyright. I think it's on the same clip where she answered a question if she's ever gonna sell her products on Sephora.
only a few minutes in, however- some of these claims sound ridiculous. I can see it with the moon-themed lip stain- but the rest? Not only are the colors and covers/packaging vastly different, how many options even are there in manufacturing? Of course there is overlap- there are only so many colors to choose from, gimmicks for lip stains/pigments, kinds of packaging for makeup? From what i’ve seen, options are kind of limited! ESPECIALLY for small brands! For the most part, this just seems entirely coincidental.
Not gonna lie it is always funny to hear about copying when creators use same things (bcs they are affordable T^T) Like there are too many niche make up brand who use same packaging, so obv there will be overlap And ngl the Iva post sounds like gaslight af "Oh this creator copied other ppl but dont bully them bcs I condone it" Like 1st thing is that u msg privately ppl to solve issue
Update: I was provided a document from Nekoyanin which they provide more of their side of the story: docs.google.com/document/d/12566CwlkzjM2OYx77dc-E_xP8EjnCbz9jIFAUEU_mCc/edit?usp=sharing
Does someting changes or ? sorry im too tired to read it all please if u can say it thankjuu

“Stole my artist” is crazy. That’s a whole person, not an indentured servant
If you’re not paying them a salary to be YOUR artist, how are you going to be mad when they ofc have to take on work from others TO LIVE?
exactly
Fr completely nuts. Like, ppl gotta pay bills. You don't own an artist or their style.
Even if you are paying them a salary they still have the right to work for anyone unless they have a contract saying they can't until the job is done.
From what I assume, I don’t think it’s just a one-and-done lump sum commission, but instead that they receive royalties due to the volume of products that are produced with their work.
if everybody in the world is copying you, maybe you're just not as original as you thought

Yva is exhausting. It's giving "you stole my pose" arguments on deviantart. It's giving "ghost dog is a closed species so you can't make one"
THAT REFERENCE IS SO NICHE I LOVE U
Not the Ponder! 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀☠️
lmao not the DA drama
It reminds me of some more niche drama: the The Sims modding community with how wild people can get over stuff that they don’t even own, trying to make big money off of textures and meshes for a game where they have zero ownership over the coding and always try to justify how they deserve to be paid several grand a month through Patreon, enough to where they’ll start drama with small mod creators acting like they own colors and shades
Some people really don’t know how to read a room with this type of stuff when money is involved.
I don’t even think Neko even accused Yva of stealing, she was just defending herself with the proof and timestamps saying “how could I have stolen from you if I released something before you did?” Anyways stan Neko 🤗

Fighting for "originality" when your whole brand is largely based on profiting from other artists' IPs is wild.
Literally so ridiculous
This is why I buy makeup from the actual anime franchises not indie. They literally steal from big names and expect everything to be fine. This is why I am not mad when these idiots get sued by the big dogs.
@@LadyRisaTsuki tbh I don't think of it as stealing. It's kinda a grey area just like doing fan merch, they show their love for the original ips not claiming they invented the ip's concepts or something. If the product is quality and do well it also might help to spead the original ips to a new audience. Minus Yva of coure she's the one who start all this unecessary drama and make indie make up scene look really bad. This is pathetic. I hate when people act like they own a basic concept and accuse anyone of copying them
they act like they own every color lol
Pathetic really is the perfect word here. Literally none of these items were the same. The lipgloss was KINDA close but not really at all, still totally diff packaging vibe. Like did they expect everyone to stop using tubes for their lippies just because they used them for a couple products?
VERYYYYY PATHETICCCCCCC! Hella stupid AFFF!
@@Bruhmoment135 Damn that's awful
Nekonyanin is actually pretty transparent about her business practices. She also doesn't tend to baselessly accuse others. She literally said "I don't own coffins," when someone told her about E.L.F. releasing a coffin lip set. She doesn't tend to come for others, but she will defend herself if others come for her.
i remember that! she responded many times to customers claiming that another brand copied her, and always said she doesn’t own *insert theme or shape*
she never accused anyone of anything, she didn’t even say that Yva stole anything from her, simply pointed out that she did some of the things Yva accused of her stealing she did first
Neko is actually such a gem tbh Yva had no business coming for her
Also Neko shows every step of her projects.
In my opinion the only thing accomplished by this callout was showing how everyone else was like 10x better at what they do
For real lmao
That’s fair to think. I know she has the high saturation so it works with melanated skin. For the guardian palette you’re not supposed to use them together, but as individual toppers or a “one look”. Though yeah with the high pigmentation I can see it being intimidating to people.
I used to have a small indie anime-inspired cosmetic line called Osaki Beauty. However, in 2021, a creator named Yva Expressions copied my entire eyeshadow palette, which was inspired by "Black Butler." She essentially took all my ideas while I was sharing a video online.
As a makeup artist I disagree, looked at both sites and Yva has better options when it comes to all skin tones
Ooooo tyty for this, ima check out their videos next!
@@Cheestah oh dude you'll love Robert! One of my faves in the makeup space
Ugh, Robert is amazing! I actually came over here after being suggested this under one of his videos
Love Robert! Also love his reaction channel where he comments on random viral stuff. Hes very funny
I am not saying that copying is what either of these brands discussed in the video did, but it is not considered a “dupe” solely over packaging as that muddies what a “dupe” actually even is (which is NOT meant to be a negative …)
Yes, we’re absolutely going there with a long post, because anyone that is passionate about this stuff with makeup knows it’s become an issue recently with that word and how it’s wrongly used.
Yes, it is very important to make that distinction and use the word correctly because there are a lot of beloved indie brands from over the years that rely on being known as making dupes of high end brands at lower costs that are being painted negatively as just being “””copycats””” in recent years due to a wave of people not understanding the difference between copying a formula/shade and outright copying everything to basically mislead consumers into thinking it’s exactly the same as the original …
So, technically, in the regard on what a dupe actually is, the two brands mentioned in this video _absolutely_ can even be considered dupes of *each other* … because that’s what it means.

Seeing Yva mess up everything for some clout is just…

if you read her comment you’ll see why this is even here at all lol. she addresses it not because she is the accuser but she’s trying to defend what she’s doing. the creator that “copied” is because she released these items first and the other creator accused her of copying her, SEVERAL times, trashed her on the lives rather than just did her job, and was profiting off of it because the other person beat it to the punch.

Also they’re stealing IP of Riot & other big corps. It’d be like if I make an Elsa palette w/ snowflakes then claim ppl copy me. Like bro… 😂
I also highly doubt that SO much people were pointing out how similar the brands are. huda can absolutely do baking/kitchen inspired products, but instead of using new or different parts of baking/being in the kitchen, they used the exact same concepts for almost all of their products the BB has been doing since they released makeup. that whole thing did actually feel like huda ripped off a small brand and copied them for nearly everything

Edit: neko NEVER said she own those concepts so that point you keep making doesnt make sense.

Boy, if they think this is copying, wait until they see the slime-selling scene having extremely similar concepts/themes
ALSO: 🤓☝️
💯 😂 yes & they’re ripping off other IP like attack on titan. They don’t own that! Imagine u make an Encanto palette then claim ppl copy it. Bro wut!? 🙃 they haven’t made anything that can be protected by IP law
Oml its all so asinine to me, like nobody owns a certain/specific concept 😭
The slime-selling lol, i can feel it.
No but her saying her black lip gloss is so original and no one else can make one is crazy
Yes, just accept that it’s not that unique of an idea in an over saturated market.
Like you really went out of your way to showcase how rude and unprofessional you are and for what…
@@maya6562 exactly, I know I'm already biased bc I love neko, but yeah, now I won't check her out anyways
i feel like this is saying, "arianna grande stole my hairstyle!! i always put my hair up in a high ponytail and she probably saw my post on wednesday and she decided to be unoriginal and copy me! she thinks she can do this because she has a bigger following" like, a ponytail is a subjective thing and nobody owns it??
Didn't Arianna get upset at a tiktoker for "stealing her aesthetic"? It's as if Marilyn would throw a fit over blonde bombshells...
The obly similarity is "theme" and cats, moon, skulls are probably the most used themes in everything even outside of anime... and same for neko and magic girl for anime... sorry Yva but you don't own UNIVERSAL concepts
Also Neko didn't claimed Yva copied her, but the show of similar videos been done by yva after she made them, it's more to show the kind of person that is Yva... and the way Yva behaves in dms with Neko and other content creators, and the fact she blocked you, yeah, this is a case of an attention seeker...
☝️🤓
5:03 Nekoyain has clearly said that this pallet was inspired by Bridgerton titles
If this involves Nekoyanin imma cry bro, I love her makeup
Small edit:
Changing some things up about my comment:
Ive been watching Nekoyanin and correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see how she copied this girl's stuff. The only one I saw similar like Nekoyanin said was the lip oil. A lot of people can have the same ideas and stuff and tbh I am just majorly confused. I am still early in the video, so please bear w/ me here. Both makeup brands look beautiful
It does unfortunately.... I didn't think this would get any attention from other people but here we are.
guess what
@@zzitchy chicken butttt
I was working on an edit for my comment just as I got yalls replies😭😭😭
I would not be surprised if Yva freaked out over black lipstick existing when I'm pretty sure it's older than they are.
in my opinion the yva person was just mad the other brand was more popular and expected this to blow up in their favor and get them more sales. the text messages were so…yikes, if anything, acting like that (somehow not expecting anyone to expose it) is only gonna make people hate her more or stop buying from her and support the bigger (and smaller?) brands she was accusing of copying instead. just like kat said, the similarities were pretty much because they are both tiktok businesses essentially, even i know that app has different format trends that come and go and different type of showcases and products trends.
(kat i hope u do more of these long form videos, even though i know its a lot more effort- i really love them. i didn’t even realize it was until i was an hour in and was so happy about it) also, the only thing that gets me to use emojis: ☝️🤓 (keep doing this i love it)
I really like how Nekoyanin is constantly engaging with the customers. I hope things turn out for the best for her
People are always hating on nekoyanin 😭 she’s genuinely so sweet
this makes me so sad bcus nekoyanin is literally the sweetest girl ever. I was there since the start of her business really and she used to hold so many tiktok lives to promote and show herself hand packing every single order and she would talk to every single one of us. she really is the sweetest and no one business should own a certain product or a concept. they r both based on ANIME inspired makeup.. no one exclusively OWNS the right to make anime inspired makeup. yva doing too much. thank god i never bought from her cus dang.
just watching how this whole “drama” started its just yva crying and accusing people of copying when the others get more popular than her 😭😭😭
25:20 she made possibly the dumbest response here actually… she essentially told people to go hate on nekoyanin by assuming and stating that neko is copying her?? if yva really wanted to coexist she would’ve pointed out the fact that they have a similar brand concept or just say they arent copying each other! theres no point in dishing out ur suspicions in the comments without maybe talking to the person you’re suspecting?? its just so stupid especially because the similar concepts cause them to have similar markets!
Made it to the end with a tinfoil hat 😂 100% agree with the likelihood of having the same manufacturer and mostly coincidence. It’s a huuuuuge stretch to call any of it “copying”
Wait 🤓☝️
The fact that you’re blocked by Yva and neko didn’t block you definitely says something as well… idk kinda weird to me
Honestly in my opinion i feel like YVA is being incredibly unreasonable, i mean, why would you think that because someone has a product SLIGHTLY similar to yours that theyre copying you.
And formulation
But she even suggests replacements for those who can’t afford them
Nekoyanin they could never make me hate you
I honestly had NO IDEA until today that Nekoyanin was dealing with this drama… i love her stuff and am buying from her right now so she can at least profit from all this hate
"She used my artist" SINCE WHEN WERE WE OBJECTS YOU OWNED!?
(Excluding that lip oil)
Almsot forgot the ☝️🤓
they definitely have the same manufacturer, I think your tinfoil theory isn't so tinfoil and it's exactly what it happened LOL. both of them are fighting but the manufacturer is the one profiting in the end
Neko isn't even fighting more like just doing what yva wants to not have any drama but clearly yva is not feeling good and just wants more drama🤷♀️
The mental gymnastics to think of similarities from those makeup is WILD
neko responded and omg SHE and OTHER bussines were the ones being copied, so glad she stood up for herself, beucause managing a small bussines is already hard, and seeing other "coworker" whom you expect to understand first hand how hard is for you to keep going.. wow. some people think they can lie and nothing's gonna happen for being this or that race already, but not only that, she now uses the excuse of "i'm a small bussines" to NOT deal with the consequences of HER OWN actions
This happens _frequently_ simply because there's only so many color combos you can create.
copying the lipgloss tubes is crazy because they all dropship their containers from the same stores
Thats not dropshipping though. Dropshipping would be selling these containers absolutely the same they got them for a higher price. What these creators do id just buying parts.
i’ve been WAITING for someone to make a video about this because it is so complicated
"they copied our exact concept" *shows products with lots of differents just with the same theme*.... Ok then
It’s the fact that barely any products are ‘original’. All of them are based on already existing tropes, art, and characters. None of it us an original concept
I feel like YVA is forgetting that her brand isn’t original…
She’s doing make up based on anime and its tropes. She didn’t make anime, therefore it’s not hers to “own” and be the only one to make products inspired by it
It would make more sense if the complaint is about those adhesive eyeliners but even that's a bit of a stretch.
It feels lke Yva simply wanted a pity party so that more people buy her make up instead of Neko's and other small busineses
I am actually a big fan of nekoyanin's content! -sorry if I spelt it wrong
I don't think either of them copying, I think it is inspired with the packing big orders thing but still, a lot of people did that
I find it crazy things that are not even on the same planet are being claimed as copied
edit: not to be that person but ty for liking!
1:41 these r just similar palettes, every makeup brand uses it
Honestly I don't think neko talking about the content she made first was her saying she "owned it". I think it was just her proving she didn't copy/rip off her accuser since it would have been impossible
I swear Neko gets attacked so often for basic concepts that everyone also doing during popular anime shows at the time or popular concepts “.
i just dont understand how you can use private label products + packaging and proclaim with ur whole chest that someone else stole ur products 😭like girl i could go on alibaba right now and get the exact same thing. i dont have anything against private label, but if you use private label, and they send you samples, theyre probably sending everyone samples! you arent special, youre a customer! as soon as i saw the drama i was like "they probs just have the same manufacturers and ego i too big to accept that they arent getting some exclusive access to whatever item the company wants to try and market that week." this shit happens all the time
🤓
People are so obsessed with saying someone coping and it’s so crazy.
I am really sad about the drama so far , I am a big supporter of both of those creators and I have brought from both of them . I really hope this can be resolved peacefully without any more drama :/
Im so glad that neko isnt bad cuz i love her content
A brand that sells products with characters, they have no rights to complains that they are copied? Like girl you're quite stealing the artists characters...
if you're talking about the anime on the front i have nothing to say, but if you're talking about the literal artworks
it is commissioned meaning the artist get payed for drawing it, it is also cormecially used meaning they have to pay the artist more money
@@Blueming_345 yeah I did notice, I'm glad because if the company wanted to they could sue her
@@KZ3AI remember her addressing that.
Not gonna lie it is always funny to hear about copying when creators use same things (bcs they are affordable T^T)
Like there are too many niche make up brand who use same packaging, so obv there will be overlap
And ngl the Iva post sounds like gaslight af
"Oh this creator copied other ppl but dont bully them bcs I condone it"
Like 1st thing is that u msg privately ppl to solve issue
