After the Great Chicago Fire, there was initially virtually no potable water in the city. Joseph Schlitz sent barges of his product outside its home area for the first time to Chicago so folks had something to drink. They decided they LIKED it and demand shot up. That was how Schlitz became "the beer that made Milwaukee famous."

Notice the flip-top cans, when you pull it open you get to throw the tab down onto the street, or woods, or lake.
In Philly, we also had (rhymes with Schlitz) "Schmidt's" beer.

No man! You put it back into the can, chug it down, and choke on it when you're half shat faced.

@@leftylou6070 They may not be gay, per se, but they definitely explored the Outback together.

@@ColtStone So what you're sayin' is they would probably just hold it in their mouth until the swelling goes down.

Remember these commercials. They made the beer look so good. But I was too young to drink. Now there isn’t a Schlitz to be found. Guess I’ll never know how good it was.

They recently started making it again a few years back with the 60’s formula. Depending on where you live, it may be easiest to order online.

I was a teenager in the 70s and everyone drank Schlitz. I mean everyone. Then they ruined it. Doest Schlitz even exist anymore?

Back then I did service work for an Old Millwater distributor. It went fast, there were always 4 or 5 box cars sitting out back of the warehouse full waiting to be unloaded.
