I mean he took control of the castle as he got kicked out of it before and he tried to stop the real villain. Sure he isnt 100% hero, but he is good enough for a crazy person, moreover Kris wanted to be friends with Spamton, but guess what? We lead Kris into killing everybody and Spamton tried to free his friend by capturing his soul and giving him patrial control over his body. Thats a chad move, I mean, Spamton is crazy for thinking thag capturing somebody's soul is a good thing, but he tried to be the good guy all along

And there is no evidence he wants kris's soul because he wants to help kris, quite the contrary actually, in the normal route he tries to steal your soul with hopes to break free and in the weird route he only attacks you if you try to seal the fountain both occasions he is being selfish the only difference is that in the snowgrave route he is trying to kill the person you, not because you killed a lot of people but because you are in his way

ah yes, when you play a PvP game and you deal with the tankiest guy in the group, so tanky he heals more than the damage you deal, yet he doesnt kill you either and just stands there menacingly.

I love how Spamton just stands there, taunting you. Reminding you of what you've done. How you've used your friends, and trying to help you see that dying is one of the few good options Kris has left. Spamton knows how Kris is also being used. He wants to give them an easy way out of this. But we won't let Kris die.
God, this takes one of the best moments from Undertale’s Neutral, where you call out for help and the rest of the human souls come and save up from flowey, and just turns it on it’s head with a sick, sadistic ending.
Something very interesting about this part is that when calling susie/ralsei it will say "Kris called for help...", but when calling Noelle, it says "YOU whispered Noelle's name..." which makes this even more terrifying than it already is
I love the way Toby fox does these weird inconsistencies to really make you think, in undertale during the genocide route, occasionally it will speak in first person instead of 2nd, so this might be something similar
The reason you couldn't find this song in the files and had to speed up a different song is because that's what happens in-game. It just speeds up "spamton_neo_meet.ogg"(Deal gone wrong) in real time. This same thing applies to "so cold" from undertale which just applies effects to snowy and some of the genocide songs also.
The only new files in snowgrave are noelle’s assets, stuff for the new weapons, snowgrave spamton’s pipis attack, and d ogg (berdly’s theme) iced enemies have a blue texture applied (that’s why you can freeze things like mauswheel or tasque manager who you wouldn’t be able to) this theme (and the city’s theme) are slowed and pitched down versions of the original song. the 'kris called for help...' against the 'you whispered noelle's name' really gets me. like, sure, we manipulated noelle and all, but we did it through kris's body while they had to stand there and watch themself being horrible to one of their friends. we manipulated kris into ruining their own life and they could do nothing but sit and watch it burn.

Consider the fact that Noelle literally PIERCES Spamton NEO's defense boost at the end of the fight, unless the Magic defense is a different stat, that has SCARY implications for how strong she's gotten.
I took it upon myself to calculate the exact damage Noelle deals with her last spell, and I really hope I'm wrong... _because 70000 damage doesn't sound comforting._
@@SolaricSage116 They probably compared the damage you do to spamton normally to what you do after his defense skyrockets at the end, and turning it into a multiplier, and then used it to multiply Noelle’s normal attack stats from other enemies, or maybe even her Snowgrave damage, if that value exists.
Even though its just spamton's theme slowed down, it really nails the feeling of being stuck without anything you can do. Perfect for Algebra Homework!

@@dedo9990 Well, it's possible Spamton is aware of Kris and the players ability to essentially control time. They can rewind and fast forward it like loading video game saves, and with that power comes the ability to pretty much do whatever you want without having to worry about the consequences, cause they can all be undone in an instant. Sans in his fight back in Undertale summarize it quite well, "You think you can, and so you must" both the player and Kris probably aren't committing these horrible atrocities out of malice or sadism, maybe they just want nothing more than to see what'll happen. But this belief that we're above any and all retribution, that we don't have to care, means we're cold and emotionless, just like Kris during this route, so Spamton is Pretty much saying that this apathetic attitude made us lose who we really are, just a cruel, uncaring monster now, we've lost our humanity, we lost our soul
The way I interpreted it was that by taking this route, we have taken the story off its rails from being a sort of formulaic story of heroism. In the main route, things are funny and silly and heartwarming, and the action follows a standard route of gradually ramping up and culminating in a final confrontation against the bad guy, with everyone coming together to save the day. From a game design standpoint, every room has a purpose, giving you a healthy variety of carefully curated fights, puzzles, and dialogue. Some have speculated that this is all by design, possibly being orchestrated by Ralsei. This is reflected in the lighteners on the main path considering that these dark fountains might not be such a bad thing after all. But on this route, the script has been thrown out. You make a bunch of obscure decisions that don't immediately make sense. You grind tediously to freeze the same enemies over and over. The puzzles and flavor dialogue are gone. After killing Berdly you walk down a long, empty, eerily normal alleyway completely unlike anything on the main path. The difficulty, rather than being a standard gradual ramp up, is trivial until a giant spike at the very end. In a standard hero story, the hero with their back against the wall with no hope of survival will surely be saved at the last minute. But we threw away the script, with all of its miracles and magic. No longer is this the sort of story where anyone gets saved at the last minute. I guess Spamton just didn't account for the player's ability to somehow summon Noelle by whispering her name. And I suppose the "see too far" thing probably calls back to his other dialogue where he implies that taking the Snowgrave route will somehow set Kris or the player "free".
@@jelt3605 This is a sped-up version of Deal Gone Wrong, literally. Like there is no song in game that's just this, the game just plays deal gone wrong and speeds it up in game lol. So yea this song doesn't exist in-game as its own track, but still an amazing version
when I saw the ending dialogue for this fight, it really hit me. a man clearly insane is making you out to be the insane monster. what does that say about you in the end?
I think that he's projecting onto you, as he doesn't have any way to cope with himself, and finds it easier to make you out as the monster because of your actions in the path.
Keep in mind that Spamton only really complains about your action at the very end, which would [%$#!] him over if successful. He has absolutely no problems with everything that led up to that. He has absolutely no problems taking advantage of your evil control over any lightners. He has no problems with the frozen darkners. When your actions put and end to his success, THEN he suddenly has a problem.

He literally set the stage for you to bring Berdly's life to an untimely end, sold you a weapon that would make you basically unstoppable, all so he could reap the benefits of your carnage in the end. He doesn't fight you out of guilt or heroism, he fights you because you're about to double-cross him.
And you know what you can do about it? Jack shit. You can only sit there and call for help as you go against an opponent with, according to the game, “Towering defense”.

God, there is something that makes you feel so helpless about Spamton being near invincible, mocking you and judging how you manipulated people to get this far. And you can’t even fight back, all you can do is call for help, knowing you’re useless on your own, as even the battle text states, “Spamton NEO’s defense is towering.”
Out of all the things that the Snowgrave Route throws your way, i have to say the return of "(Number of alive monsters) Left." and "But Nobody Came." is likely the second most harrowing aside from what you force Noelle into. The game doesn't want it, and neither does Kris, but you're forcing a genocide route anyways...and who knows what the ultimate price of that will be this time around?
Deltarune ain't telling me what to do. If the game didn't want me to do the evil route, it wouldn't have one. It was Toby Fox who added Snowgrave and I'm getting scolded for checking it out. I hate meta crap in games. If the game tells me I should feel bad for killing everyone, why should I play it?
But this is the only time it works like this. All the other times it was through the power of friendship and love, while here it was through manipulation and abuse. So it's the same thing yes, but with the exact opposite context.
I find the sped up version of Deal Gone Wrong even more depressing than the normal one. The normal one is creepy, but this one, it feels like there's no way out of this situation

In a 1-for-1 battle NEO never loses. That is actually true, as in every NEO battle it's not just you, it's you and an ally (or more). But here, you HAVE to call for someone, since there is nothing left but that.

I have a good feeling that Chapter 3 and the following chapters are going to be a whole different beast. You’ve already manipulated one of ur friends and killed one of their friends, so who’s next on the list? We know in chapter 3 that Toriel, Kris, Susie, and Undyne are definitely going to be there. Mike might also be a candidate. We might even get some glimpses of the Knight. And with the Shadow Crystal characters, we’ve seen one of them think they are free in their cell, while the other knows that they aren’t free, yet tries to find the ‘key.’ You can clearly tell how desperate Spamton is, he doesn’t care about anyone else. He gives you the ring, watches you freeze many of the denizens, and pretends that ‘oh yeah, nothin to see there, time to find my keys!’ Jevil thinks he’s free, but he’s already too crazy to even think about not being free. Mike might be a Shadow Crystal character or just might be the main antagonist of his little show.
my theory is that kris is the knight because they took their blade and stabbed the earth (thats how you make a dark fountain by queen) and they took out their heart because they are being controlled by us, we are the hero keeping kris at bay while kris is the bad guy, trying to bring the roaring. And if Ralsei was there, too... Then 150 damage and 225 for the enraged version. For that secret version of going beyond enraged, you spam the BIG SHOT 50 times consecutively, his hair goes dark red and his face goes into a dark red plus his attacks will do 300 and 450 damage respectively. His defense mode at the end would need a couple of Snowgraves, so he's insanely tough as this mode will be a "no bars held off" type of mode where Spamton is completely serious.
@@SolaricSage116 If they had no items, Everyone's Defense (Including Kris, and not including Noelle since her DF is 1) would be 2 Defense, making all of the Party deal the same damage. Spamton NEO has an Attack of 13 and a Defense of 0, -27 in Snowgrave.
Spamton NEO in the fountain and in the basement have the same stats the difference is in the fountain you only have 160 HP and in the basement you have 360 HP
I note that there aren't any voice clips in this theme unlike in some of the other Spamton themes; this scene certainly wasn't one of Kris's chances to be a big shot

What a terrifying final phase, man; not in terms of gameplay, of course, because you'd have to be *very* bad at the game to accidentally die to Spamton here. No, by story standards. Imagine that you're a thirteen-year-old that is facing an insanely powerful god three times your size, and his defense is so staggering that you can't even put a dent in him, meanwhile he is still capable of killing you and has infinite regeneration if you do try to chip away at his health. Although it would take a long time, the salesman would be able to kill you; you and him have all the time in the world, and he has the clear advantage. Remember that you and Kris were only able to win thanks to a dues ex machina in the form of Noelle's (hopefully) final IceShock. And yes, it was an IceShock, it had the noise and the three attack values. As the man said, "IN A [1 for 1] BATTLE, NEO NEVER LOSES!!!"

I feel like a lot of the dialouge he says in this part in the snowgrave route, he's actually referring to himself. Seriously, look at his dialouge and get to know his lore, it makes perfect sense.
So. I do know this one. Did a bunch of research for a writing project. Everyone else has skills that look like "ATK * 5 + MAG * 4 - T.DEF * 6" Noelle's... Looks like "(MAG - 10) * 30 + 50" She COMPLETELY BYPASSES target defense. Never even calculates it. Heck, she's even restrained to only having 1 Magic [Her magic is 11 but -10 by Iceshock] and it still thrashes the Dark World... Then she grows to have 2, 5, 10 * 30 in her attacks. Snowgrave? "MAG * 40 + 600" Unrestrained. Ignore Defense. Hits the entire field. By proxy of in game mechanics being in universe, high chance it is unavoidable too- has no accuracy check. Only downfall is that without 3 enemies, Iceshock's 20 TP cost (8%) is more consistent damage than Snowgrave's 250 TP cost (100%) [Both after Thorn Ring modifications]
To be fair, it's technically Dr Alphys' fault for Mettaton NEO having little to no defense. She was probably too busy trying to catch up on watching Mew Mew Kissy Cutie, to focus on Mettaton NEO's defense.
In all seriousness I think she was so desperate to make him deal high damage, enough to kill you, that she couldn't work on defense in time. Or it was just for the sake of plot. Sans is supposed to be the big fight, and making mettaton difficult to beat would make the Sans fight seem less significant.

It's thanks to this route that I can confidently say Spamton is the the most evil character in Chapter 2. Every other enemy ACTUALLY didn't know what they were doing was bad, as Queen even states that if she knew about the Roaring before she did everything, none of it would've happened as she only wanted to expand the Dark World and give the citizens more room. She also was nice to everyone even her enemies, literally trucing with Kris at one point. No absolute malice or greed, just and innocent leader wanting to make her people happy. While Spamton, well.... Right away meeting him in the alley you can tell he's not to be messed with with how unstable he is. He asks to see your soul not outright saying he wants it, but as proven in the secret battle he does want it. So instead knowing he won't be able to beat you the way he is, tricks Kris into giving him NEO power. Only defeating him with pacifism ACTUALLY opens up his remorseful nice side. In SnowGrave, it's an entirely DIFFERENT story. He still manipulates Kris for his plans of power, but this time uses Noelle as a distraction for Queen's troops. Then at the end of it, wants to kill Kris for trying to seal the fountain because he finally has control over the Dark World. And he hypocritically insults Kris about their actions on the route despite all them being something Spamton did before. He's redeemable, but definitely the most evil character of the chapter.
I feel like in snowgrave he realizes that he let power get to him and when he saw people being frozen he saw that he was the last savior of the cyber city or else he would just end up with nothing so he then had to stop Kris to justify himself and the people he's kinda broken down and mentally done so realizing he's wrong he tries to fix it the only way ye knows

This is my favorite song from the soundtrack. I just like menacing, tragic, and scary songs. It really feels like Spamton NEO is towering over you and is just there so that he doesn't have to spend time and energy into doing anything.

I think it was just his defense magic restricting his attack. Like Mettaton NEO had a very high attack but critically low defense. The same applies with Sans, really powerful damage but no defense.
@@melovespoon There's also implications that the 'soul' shown in Deltarune isnt actually a soul either. There's a book implying no one knows the purpose or shape of a soul in Deltarune (so it's similar to our world's perception of souls) and Spamton straight up says he's never seen a heart shaped object/soul like Kris' before. Rather, it could be that the player/parasite is an actual tangible thing and the game is playing on its playerbases' precognitive perception of what souls look like in Undertale, assuming it's the same here.
@@OsnosisBones I'd also like to point out we never get undertale confirmation frisk is even human. Human souls persist after death, frisk's could shatter due to a similar parasite if this is true.
@@melovespoon Granted, you could argue in the case of undertale that the reason it instantly shatters is because the monsters are attacking it directly, and we do at least have confirmation that at the least look like that through the other souls. Frisk is also actually probably human since even if you don't live with toriel frisk does get an ending where they're living in a home in the surface, implying they do actually have a home to return to in that ending. That being said, we do have confirmation that the player is its own entity in undertale as well, since it's the player whose actions corrupt chara in genocide (and chara directly talks to and points out the way they are now is the fault of the player 'teaching' them). Plus, flowey/asriel actually implores for the player to let frisk enjoy their life in the end, though he mistakenly assumes the source of the cycle is chara, not the player.

It just speeds up "spamton_neo_meet.ogg"(Deal gone wrong) in real time. This same thing applies to "so cold" from undertale which just applies effects to snowy and some of the genocide songs also.

Consider the fact that Noelle literally PIERCES Spamton NEO's defense boost at the end of the fight, unless the Magic defense is a different stat, that has SCARY implications for how strong she's gotten.
I took it upon myself to calculate the exact damage Noelle deals with her last spell, and I really hope I'm wrong... _because 70000 damage doesn't sound comforting._

@@SolaricSage116 They probably compared the damage you do to spamton normally to what you do after his defense skyrockets at the end, and turning it into a multiplier, and then used it to multiply Noelle’s normal attack stats from other enemies, or maybe even her Snowgrave damage, if that value exists.
Even though its just spamton's theme slowed down, it really nails the feeling of being stuck without anything you can do.

@@dedo9990 Well, it's possible Spamton is aware of Kris and the players ability to essentially control time. They can rewind and fast forward it like loading video game saves, and with that power comes the ability to pretty much do whatever you want without having to worry about the consequences, cause they can all be undone in an instant.
Sans in his fight back in Undertale summarize it quite well, "You think you can, and so you must" both the player and Kris probably aren't committing these horrible atrocities out of malice or sadism, maybe they just want nothing more than to see what'll happen.
But this belief that we're above any and all retribution, that we don't have to care, means we're cold and emotionless, just like Kris during this route, so Spamton is Pretty much saying that this apathetic attitude made us lose who we really are, just a cruel, uncaring monster now, we've lost our humanity, we lost our soul
The way I interpreted it was that by taking this route, we have taken the story off its rails from being a sort of formulaic story of heroism. In the main route, things are funny and silly and heartwarming, and the action follows a standard route of gradually ramping up and culminating in a final confrontation against the bad guy, with everyone coming together to save the day. From a game design standpoint, every room has a purpose, giving you a healthy variety of carefully curated fights, puzzles, and dialogue. Some have speculated that this is all by design, possibly being orchestrated by Ralsei. This is reflected in the lighteners on the main path considering that these dark fountains might not be such a bad thing after all.
But on this route, the script has been thrown out. You make a bunch of obscure decisions that don't immediately make sense. You grind tediously to freeze the same enemies over and over. The puzzles and flavor dialogue are gone. After killing Berdly you walk down a long, empty, eerily normal alleyway completely unlike anything on the main path. The difficulty, rather than being a standard gradual ramp up, is trivial until a giant spike at the very end. In a standard hero story, the hero with their back against the wall with no hope of survival will surely be saved at the last minute. But we threw away the script, with all of its miracles and magic. No longer is this the sort of story where anyone gets saved at the last minute. I guess Spamton just didn't account for the player's ability to somehow summon Noelle by whispering her name.
And I suppose the "see too far" thing probably calls back to his other dialogue where he implies that taking the Snowgrave route will somehow set Kris or the player "free".

I think that he's projecting onto you, as he doesn't have any way to cope with himself, and finds it easier to make you out as the monster because of your actions in the path.

Keep in mind that Spamton only really complains about your action at the very end, which would [%$#!] him over if successful. He has absolutely no problems with everything that led up to that. He has absolutely no problems taking advantage of your evil control over any lightners. He has no problems with the frozen darkners. When your actions put and end to his success, THEN he suddenly has a problem.

He literally set the stage for you to bring Berdly's life to an untimely end, sold you a weapon that would make you basically unstoppable, all so he could reap the benefits of your carnage in the end. He doesn't fight you out of guilt or heroism, he fights you because you're about to double-cross him.
And you know what you can do about it? Jack shit. You can only sit there and call for help as you go against an opponent with, according to the game, “Towering defense”.

Out of all the things that the Snowgrave Route throws your way, i have to say the return of "(Number of alive monsters) Left." and "But Nobody Came." is likely the second most harrowing aside from what you force Noelle into. The game doesn't want it, and neither does Kris, but you're forcing a genocide route anyways...and who knows what the ultimate price of that will be this time around?
Deltarune ain't telling me what to do. If the game didn't want me to do the evil route, it wouldn't have one. It was Toby Fox who added Snowgrave and I'm getting scolded for checking it out. I hate meta crap in games. If the game tells me I should feel bad for killing everyone, why should I play it?

I have a good feeling that Chapter 3 and the following chapters are going to be a whole different beast. You’ve already manipulated one of ur friends and killed one of their friends, so who’s next on the list? We know in chapter 3 that Toriel, Kris, Susie, and Undyne are definitely going to be there. Mike might also be a candidate. We might even get some glimpses of the Knight. And with the Shadow Crystal characters, we’ve seen one of them think they are free in their cell, while the other knows that they aren’t free, yet tries to find the ‘key.’ You can clearly tell how desperate Spamton is, he doesn’t care about anyone else. He gives you the ring, watches you freeze many of the denizens, and pretends that ‘oh yeah, nothin to see there, time to find my keys!’ Jevil thinks he’s free, but he’s already too crazy to even think about not being free. Mike might be a Shadow Crystal character or just might be the main antagonist of his little show.
my theory is that kris is the knight because they took their blade and stabbed the earth (thats how you make a dark fountain by queen) and they took out their heart because they are being controlled by us, we are the hero keeping kris at bay while kris is the bad guy, trying to bring the roaring. For that secret version of going beyond enraged, you spam the BIG SHOT 50 times consecutively, his hair goes dark red and his face goes into a dark red plus his attacks will do 300 and 450 damage respectively. His defense mode at the end would need a couple of Snowgraves, so he's insanely tough as this mode will be a "no bars held off" type of mode where Spamton is completely serious.

Spamton NEO has an Attack of 13 and a Defense of 0, -27 in Snowgrave.
Spamton NEO in the fountain and in the basement have the same stats the difference is in the fountain you only have 160 HP and in the basement you have 360 HP

Quite the opposite actually, "Deal gone wrong", "HEY EVERY !!", "Dialtone" and "A REAL BOY!" dont have voice lines, only "Spamton" "NOWS YOUR CHANCE TO BE A" and "BIG SHOT" do, however, if you listen closely at 0:13, this theme appears to also have a voice line despite being an altered "Deal gone wrong"

What a terrifying final phase, man; not in terms of gameplay, of course, because you'd have to be *very* bad at the game to accidentally die to Spamton here. No, by story standards. Imagine that you're a thirteen-year-old that is facing an insanely powerful god three times your size, and his defense is so staggering that you can't even put a dent in him, meanwhile he is still capable of killing you and has infinite regeneration if you do try to chip away at his health. Although it would take a long time, the salesman would be able to kill you; you and him have all the time in the world, and he has the clear advantage. Remember that you and Kris were only able to win thanks to a dues ex machina in the form of Noelle's (hopefully) final IceShock. And yes, it was an IceShock, it had the noise and the three attack values. As the man said, "IN A [1 for 1] BATTLE, NEO NEVER LOSES!!!"

To be fair, it's technically Dr Alphys' fault for Mettaton NEO having little to no defense. She was probably too busy trying to catch up on watching Mew Mew Kissy Cutie, to focus on Mettaton NEO's defense.

It's thanks to this route that I can confidently say Spamton is the the most evil character in Chapter 2. Every other enemy ACTUALLY didn't know what they were doing was bad, as Queen even states that if she knew about the Roaring before she did everything, none of it would've happened as she only wanted to expand the Dark World and give the citizens more room. She also was nice to everyone even her enemies, literally trucing with Kris at one point. No absolute malice or greed, just and innocent leader wanting to make her people happy. While Spamton, well....
Right away meeting him in the alley you can tell he's not to be messed with with how unstable he is. He asks to see your soul not outright saying he wants it, but as proven in the secret battle he does want it. So instead knowing he won't be able to beat you the way he is, tricks Kris into giving him NEO power. Only defeating him with pacifism ACTUALLY opens up his remorseful nice side. In SnowGrave, it's an entirely DIFFERENT story. He still manipulates Kris for his plans of power, but this time uses Noelle as a distraction for Queen's troops. Then at the end of it, wants to kill Kris for trying to seal the fountain because he finally has control over the Dark World. And he hypocritically insults Kris about their actions on the route despite all them being something Spamton did before. He's redeemable, but definitely the most evil character of the chapter.
in the snowgrave route in my opinion he is not redeemable
I feel like in snowgrave he realizes that he let power get to him and when he saw people being frozen he saw that he was the last savior of the cyber city or else he would just end up with nothing so he then had to stop Kris to justify himself and the people he's kinda broken down and mentally done so realizing he's wrong he tries to fix it the only way ye knows

I think spamton PURPOSELY lowered his attack because he knew us was gonna win using noelle as a ice cream gun. he was just playing along with it
I think it was just his defense magic restricting his attack. Like Mettaton NEO had a very high attack but critically low defense. The same applies with Sans, really powerful damage but no defense.

There's also implications that the 'soul' shown in Deltarune isnt actually a soul either. There's a book implying no one knows the purpose or shape of a soul in Deltarune (so it's similar to our world's perception of souls) and Spamton straight up says he's never seen a heart shaped object/soul like Kris' before.
Rather, it could be that the player/parasite is an actual tangible thing and the game is playing on its playerbases' precognitive perception of what souls look like in Undertale, assuming it's the same here.
@@OsnosisBones I'd also like to point out we never get undertale confirmation frisk is even human. Human souls persist after death, frisk's could shatter due to a similar parasite if this is true.

Granted, you could argue in the case of undertale that the reason it instantly shatters is because the monsters are attacking it directly, and we do at least have confirmation that at the least look like that through the other souls.
Frisk is also actually probably human since even if you don't live with toriel frisk does get an ending where they're living in a home in the surface, implying they do actually have a home to return to in that ending.
That being said, we do have confirmation that the player is its own entity in undertale as well, since it's the player whose actions corrupt chara in genocide (and chara directly talks to and points out the way they are now is the fault of the player 'teaching' them).
Plus, flowey/asriel actually implores for the player to let frisk enjoy their life in the end, though he mistakenly assumes the source of the cycle is chara, not the player.
