Thanks for a very helpful and informative video. I have the Lite and I agree it’s a good razor, but you always have to pay close attention while shaving. I found, for me, it really helped once I discovered that if I ride the cap, it gives a closer and more comfortable shave than using the regular 30 degree angle. Again thanks for a very informative video.
Hey Brian! Great to see a video from you! I think a Ti version of the light may tame it down for you (albeit expensive). I love my Blackbird Ti as it tames down the regular just enough for me. Many blessings to you, your family, your sanity, and your business in 2023!
Interesting how different metals can shave differently when all the geometry is the same. I have not tried brass in this. I tried the Ti over a year ago that Latherhog loaned me but I can’t remember how it shaved vs the SS
Great shave Brian! I'm glad the pharmacy biz is still going good. Logbook was another solid crowd pleaser by N.O. I enjoyed it as well. It definitely has a cologne-y vibe. Happy and healthy new year to you and your family!
Happy New Year, Brian! I recently bought a Blackbird Ti before I knew this Lite version was coming out. I love the Ti and it is smooth enough for me that I didn't find a need to buy a Lite plate.
Hi Brian. It's always interesting to hear about your business and, in this case, that immunizations are so profitable. I hope that's all going well and everything else as well. Thank you for reviewing this razor. I have been enjoying milder razors more and more as a daily shaver. I'm thinking I wouldn't enjoy this one. I have been leaning more toward a Karve razor so that something I'll be looking at in 2023. All my best for a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2023.
Thanks Eric! Happy New Year. I think that the Lite still wouldn’t be considered mild even though it’s milder than the original plate. Given your preferences I think this would not be a good fit for you. The Karve Overlander or CB with a SB B plate would be a better match for you. Another to consider might be the Aylsworth Kopparcant or Drakkant.
@@thewetshaveexperience6988 The Overlander seems to be everyone's favorite or, at least, everyone who uses one seems to enjoy it. I find all their products appealing but the plate business is a little confusing. Thank you for the recommendations!
Nice shave! Appreciate your thoughts on the razor. I have the original Blackbird and really like it. I can use it with a really steep angle, handle almost parallel with the face. How is the Lite in that regard? Do you have to ride the cap?
I agree. I notice, for me, riding the cap under the nose, and the going at a shallow angle for the rest of my face works best. The thing I have learned is that the Lite is a forgiving razor. Less nicks and still a close shave.
Hi cheers and Happy new year and wonder products to end 2022 and to begin 2023. Great video. Is the lite really a daily shave??? Could you compare it to Rex Envoy? This is also too much for me for a daily shaving, but an excellent instrument. Thank you and have a great 2023. Danilo from Switzerland
Danilo, thanks for watching. It’s been a long time since I have used the Envoy. Matt loaned it to me so I do not have it any longer to compare. I do remember the Envoy was a bit too much blade feel for me. I think the Blackland Lite plate is less blade feel than the Envoy. For me the Lite is definitely more to my liking. However, I’m still not sure it’s a daily driver for me. Maybe more like an occasional razor for me. Happy New Year.
I am wondering if I got a defective Blackbird Lite razor. It has decent blade feel, but my razor is not efficient at all. In fact it's the most mild razor in my entire collection and I really have a hard time getting a BBS. Is it super mild, am I doing something wrong, or do I have a defective razor?
Thanks Glenn! Happy New Year. The NO labels have always been really cool but the most recent ones have definitely stepped it up a notch. I have the Era but only the Level 3 SB base plate.
I'll be getting the Karve Overlander aluminum as soon as it's back in stock.
Good to see you again after a long time. Excellent shave again. Best wishes for 2023, in advance.
Thank you so much. Happy New Year! Wishing you the best in 2023!
Hej Brian one more time Happy New Year Everyone! Nice job Man. How are you doing? Of course long time no see. Finally is back!! Welcome back buddy.

I have a SS and a brass blackland blackbird razor, and i noticed that the brass is much more smoother than the Stainless steel one

Great review, just picked up a Lite plate and I was worried that it would bee too aggressive. Thank you for your thoughts and feedback on this razor.

Was interested in your opinion on the lite version.
Thank you. The Lite is definitely more my speed and I will keep this one but still not sure it’s a daily driver for me. Love the looks of it though.
Finally you back! Brian Happy New year everyone! Nice job Man
Thanks Big Dude! Happy New Year!

Hi Brian. Are most Noble Otter soap scents below a 5/10 scent strength? Are there any strong soap scents from them?
Nice shave! Appreciate your thoughts on the razor. I have the original Blackbird and really like it. I can use it with a really steep angle, handle almost parallel with the face. How is the Lite in that regard? Do you have to ride the cap?
I have the Lite and it does help to ride the cap, especially for me, under the nose area. Of course, YMMV.
@@stuartbender236
Only under the nose? Or is top cap riding the default for the whole shave?
you don’t need to ride the cap, but a shallower blade/skin angle does make a difference, at least for me. regards dapper shaves
@@dappershaves
Thanks! It seems as if the Lite plate likes a markedly shallower angle compared to the original

@@thewetshaveexperience6988 hi thank you for your great reply and enjoy enjoy enjoy the new Year. Take care.
What would you rate as your favorite daily driver?
I would say that my Merkur 34c, Rockwell 6S with the 3 plate, Karve Overlander (brass) and Carbon SS with the minus plate are my go to daily drivers.
