This is great news. Although I just recieved my Moog One (16 voice) and Matriarch just last week. So I'm going to hold off on purchasing any more Moog units for a while. But I can't wait to hear what it can do.
I do recommend everyone to get a Moog One while you can. Because once China takes over, well need I say more? 😅
Also, I think the Moog Mirror will be more of a simpler version of the Moog One. It would seem pretty difficult to have a semi modular Moog One lol.
And Mike Dean is definitely the man who should bring it to the forefront.

but the real question is, how much modulation is there. that's been the weak part of most moog's, except for the modulars and the Moog 1, which I regret everyday that I didn't buy one when there was a few on reverb for 3500. the mistakes of life.

Cp-251 will always answer this in a locked in moog architecture it’s enough attenuators and and routing with cv in to expand the cv in particularly on the voyager and little phatty … so it definitely would have done the job on the moog one… I don’t see why these are all locked in architecture four ins and outs of cv would make the cp251 not as necessary.. but the few waveforms and lfo mixer cv ins and outs are great when you run a modular into it …and the moog series that are cv are quality controllers.. so they are win win.. always. Cross mod and logic are the thing moog should focus on… they are simple crusts and with digital routing they would be phenomenal with just the cv in and out you could feed back the signal.. attenuator and offset on logic is so functional in wave form shaping without daring to put a wave folder in ..
WOW!!! This is SWEET news here!!! I really want to see and hear this new synth. Although I haven't seen the whole synth yet, it already looks really nice from what I can see so far. I think it would definitely go well with my Matriarch Dark Edition.
I've played both, the 3rd Wave and the OB-X8. If this new Moog can hit OB-X8 territory to a certain extent and go way beyond, I'm all for it. I love the sound of the OB-X8, but I can't help but think about how expensive it is. Despite that, I would still buy one if I could afford it, unless this new Moog sounds so good that it throws a curve ball into those plans.
I also like the buttons on the Moog that resembles those on the 3rd Wave but with different colors as opposed to all red. These are the same type of buttons found on the Matriarch as well. Good move on using a Matriarch style chassis for this keyboard as well as the color scheme. It definitely has that classy-vintage look to it. Which is what I like.

From what i heard the sound is absolutely awesome. But who knows and the price will be more than comepetive. Probably under the $ of 3rd wave and obx8
@synthsamuraiproductions I really hope so. BTW, I've just seen a kind of close-up photo of the entire synth showing the whole front panel while on stage during the Super Bowl. It looks GREAT!!!! I can already envision it in my setup, but I gotta hear and play it first.
BTW, I also like the fact it has those little black buttons at the corner of each section that switches the mode on the display to cater to the features of that particular selected section, a feature derived from the Moog One. I'm also willing to bet this synth has a comprehensive modulation matrix, perhaps similar to that of the Moog One, but maybe scaled down a bit to make it more affordable.

Samuraaaiii!! Brother, you broke the news first to my eyes and ears. Hands down. It does look nice. I'm sure it will sound incredible as well. But Moog still will not get me to buy new. I'll spend it on their much older Explorer first just because I love that synth. But I do wish them the best with their new synth.

Yeah I'm thinking of something to compete with Sequential stuff. Prophet-6, OB6, Trigon all 3000ish and Prophet-5/10 and IBX8 more. My guess is they try to place price 3000 to 4000. With 5 octaves they steal from the 4 octave Sequentials and ay 2500 they woukd steal from the OBX8, maybe not the Prophet-10. Nothing can look like the Prophet-10 (except a Prophet-5 😂).

It seems like an interesting machine, but I don't know where the catch is, bi-timbral for a single ladder filter, it seems unsatisfactory to me.
I have the Roland JDXA that has dedicated filters in each analog and digital part, I also have the Roland JV1080, DSI Prophet 12 which is similar to having 2 prophet 6 in the same machine...
I suppose that in times where everything rises in price, Moog Mirror will not be cheaper than an Obherheim OB-X8.

@@synthsamuraiproductions Well, that would be the cheapest way, so it could cost 2000 dollars in a store.
A regular 8-voice polyphonic (2 DCO's like a Jupiter 8) would be around 2000, we know it will also be a midi controller, not bad for a regular synthesizer.
This already with 2 8-voice Moogs in the body, it would be a thing of 4000, but having 61 keys it could be even more expensive, (Moog also sells expensive octaves with a Fatar keyboard).
It may also be that you have the mirror on the part of oscillators A and B to be able to add 4 simultaneous waveforms (2+2 DCO´s) in a single preset, and I would understand that the name "mirror" could be the one in that sense. (not bad, I would buy it without a problem), an Analog Moog with CC midi control like a Subsequent 25/37, with 8 notes of polyphony, is a great piece of hardware with 1800 - 2000 dollars.
Moog needs to make something interesting for once. Needs to be more modulations and break new ground similar to Dave Smith and elektron. Just keep resorting themselves with dull synths slightly different.

Not only is smoke the enemy of all electronic circuitry, it ruins the value of the instruments, ask any tech. Every piece will smell like ass when it's opened for service. It will be interesting to see if this is basically 4 Matriarch voices (easily patchable to bi-timbral) or 8 Subsequent 37 voices. The latter makes more sense to me (in fact had they been smart they would have developed and released that in 2018 instead of Moog One) though we shall see. Either way I do NOT expect this to be under $4k.
Rumors are 8 matriarch voices. Matriarch chasis old matriarch parts. And under $4000 is the rumor the little 🐦 says, but i also am skeptical. I like your idea of 8 sub37 voices sub37 is awesome.

Question is. I need loopback capability for my streaming show. What would u recommend? A simple audio interface? Like a focusrite etc?
@@synthsamuraiproductions I have never "streamed" anything, but I believe you would simply set the USB audio device (the mixer) to be the audio input. Then the mix, including mic on one of the mixer channels, would be in your headphones as well as streamed. Loopback is unnecessary as everything that is going out is going into your ears at the same time. You should get a 2442 for growth as the GAS is strong with you...

Guess the best way to describe it is I love synthesizers I love talking about them reading about them watching videos about them. I absolutely love playing them as far as teaching them I have never taught synthesizers, but I am the sensei that will teach you how to become one with the synthesizer. To remove all doubt, that only musicians can play music to remove all apprehension that if you’ve never touched an instrument, there’s no way you can create beautiful sounds. In return creating an army of sonic samurais sending out sonic frequencies through the galaxy that will affect the universe in a positive positive way.

I don’t think it matters who they get to release it. Everyone in synthworld knows and has made up their mind about Moog. I guess this is the missing link between the One and the Matriarch. Everyone knows what it will sound like. It’s a Moog with a ladder filter. We’ve all heard it before. Given the pretty poor quality of my Sub37, hand built by artisans in the USA, I can’t imagine it will be worth the money.
Seems like alot of people are underwhelmed by this release. I am hoping it will have a modmatrix multipole filter and fat sound. But… most important $2500.
Out of curiosity when did you buy your 37, and what's up with it? Only issue with mine is a small gap between the front panel and the wood sides ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ nothing that effects its usability. But I will say, as someone who owns a Subsequent 37 but thinks the One is dumb, and the Grandmother/Matriarch are underwhelming, the only way I'm going to get excited about the Mirror is if I hear some cats who can actually play it, not just swoosh and bleep blip
@@mississippijohnfahey7175 I got mine back in about 2017 ish, I think. I had to send 2 back before I got a properly functioning one, and now all the rubber on it is sticky and horrible, the headphones socket worked for about a month, the keys were yellow in about a year.

@@synthsamuraiproductions It's got a place in the market but it won't move the units Summit or Rev2 do.. The macro interface is a good thing though on a full length board. The youth thing, I don't know, had younger people buy an analog poly due to internet hype and were discouraged when they expected to be able to make modern sounding tracks with it alone.
Honestly a digital Moog 37 key mono with analog VCF/VCA in the zen style would be cool. It would have to be priced like instrument that doesn't have a "ultra premium" name attached though. Probably would need the horsepower to outclass everything else in modulation (10 lfos/egs etc) still.

all this synth has to do is come in considerably under the moog one, its only competition. Remember Moog prizes itself on being ultra premium and doesnt want to lose that reputation. Guarantee this will be above 4k because if its half the price of the Moog one and has 8 voices its going to absolutely slay in sales.

@@d3maccus from what i heard it is 8 voice polyphony poly not para and has 2 matriarchs under the hood basically. BBD is only effect ive heard but could be more. Same filter. Bi-Timbral. Sequencer. In the same chassis so no elevated top just same layout but with a screen and more knobs instead of patch points. Heard it sounds HUGE and will blow people away.

Sorry Sam, have to disagree with you. We got rid of the Marlboro Man for a reason, and we don't need a modern day addict riding in on a Moog influencing young kids to take up drugs. Tobacco isn't cool, and it shouldn't be presented that way. Anyone that smokes in a studio clearly does't have respect for the gear. This sort of behavior is abhorrent, and should not be celebrated. Find a better role model, there are plenty of them out there.

i dont like andrew huang. i dont like the esthetics, i dont like the style, i dont even like the way he talks and music aint just about shinny gear, put me in his place and it'll end up full of black finger marks alla ove... just saying i dont hate nobody but i dont feel confortable with dat kind of image. MO though...
I am hoping Moog has a really in depth marketing plan to tease this release with people from all demographics. To hit some history some, eccentrics and some up and comers like A Huang. But this teasers was weird and all about how much reach he has with the youth hoping to break open a new market for Moog. Price is key for youth though and size.
@@synthsamuraiproductions well, i think even if they didnt do that much marketing, they'de sell theyre builts anyway. Now i'm waiting for the price range, there are two price ranges for latest moogs, the sub/grandma "expensive but affordable" price range (if young, even at school and you get to work in a field or a factory for a month you can pay for it, it'll ask an effort but it wont be a piece of chinese plastic crap aimed to the junk yard, you'll get a real durable/reparable instrument), and the vocoder "crazy for what it is" price range, and in my opinon, for a poly moog, we aint gonna be in the youngster price range, but rather the delux one. i doubt a polymoog would be cheaper than an o-b, but maybe they are realesing this unit in a price more comparable to a udo or a prophet REV2.. in that case yes, some of the younger crowd should be able to afford it... if it's a 4-5k or even a 7-8k unit, well, not shure it get's that important to market towards the youngsters... exactly, price is key, butthere's a limit imo; there's a diference between an affordable instrument and a cheap gadget (not our topic but it's one of my concerns)... But yes all demographics should have equal acces to art and culture first, and to good tools second. I think talking about ethics is important regarding audio gear in nowadays, and we can see that topic spoken of here and there...
@@baddriddimworkshop yeah u right price will be the predictor. With InMusic and their ability leverage production/distribution/parts we may get a pleasant surprise. But also we may get a whopper of a price tag. Which will be a fail.

@@hurricane6014 Definitely not. OBX8 is 5000, Prophet 5 is 3600, but it's 5 note polyphony. Made in USA analog polyphony is expensive.
