Nice job. What do you recommend if you do not have a nail gun. It seems driving nails with hammer might be difficult
You could accomplish this shelf with just wood glue. You'd want to use wood clamps to hold the boards together and allow the glue to dry overnight. I would wait to stain them until after they have been glued together and dried otherwise the stain might prevent the glue from soaking in and adhering properly.
