    Exactly what I was looking for on how to do the German smear. I love it and probably would do a more distressed look. Thanks for great demo

    I did a brick wall at my old house and we loved it! Most people thought it was real brick.
    I can't find any 3d brick panels around me, they are all completely smooth.
    Have you seen any recently at the big home improvement stores?

    • @mrsashleyfrench
      @mrsashleyfrench  2 месяца назад

      They still have them at my local Home Depot and Lowes. At my stores, they keep them laid flat under the trim and baseboards.

      @@mrsashleyfrench I can't find them at any HD or Lowes within 100 miles of NY/NJ. What city did you see them at near you?

    What kind of blade should I use on the Jig Saw???....definitely a helpful video!

    • @mrsashleyfrench
      @mrsashleyfrench  4 месяца назад

      I like using a jigsaw blade where the teeth of the blade are on the smaller side and a bit closer together. Usually the blade will say Wood/Metal on it. The smaller and closer-together teeth will help lessen how jagged and rough the edge of your panel is after cutting. Every brand jigsaw sells extra blades. Try Home Depot or Amazon.

    if you painted it, how well can you hide the vertical join with compound?

    • @mrsashleyfrench

      It was a bit more visible after I painted the wall.

    • @mrdavester
      @mrdavester 23 дня назад

      @mrsashleyfrench i just watched a video where they cut each sheet " join" only on the grout lines, so the bricks are full and fit like a puzzle. That way, they compound the joints only and hide it better.

      @@mrdavester That's a very smart idea to do it that way!

    Does the joint compound work better than mortar on a faux panel?

    • @mrsashleyfrench
      @mrsashleyfrench  2 месяца назад

      You can use either! They both work great!

    Paint it dark gray or black then German smear it
    That will look even better
    I have done few fireplaces like that in my flip homes
