  • How to build a faux brick accent wall using "Faux Panels." A very realistic and durable option. This particular product is sold by Barron Designs and the style is called "Glacier." It can be used for both interior or exterior applications. Made from a very durable foam it’s a good choice if you don’t want to use real bricks.

    @6:53 you can really see the panels. Wonder if that's because the panels are overlaying each other pushing the tenon bricks outward a bit or the panels needed to be snugged up together more?

    • @BobsTwoCarGarage
      @BobsTwoCarGarage  2 года назад

      Think it’s because the molding process is not perfect. I could of made it so by touching up the joints on my table saw.

    • @datmeme8967
      @datmeme8967 2 года назад

      @@BobsTwoCarGarage Too bad at over $100 a panel. Those Home Depot/ Lowe's panels are around $35 and are 4' x 8'. With the right tool, you can cut a jigsaw pattern on facing edges of them and then touch up the grout joints after installation with paintable caulk or spackle especially if you intend to whitewash the bricks afterwards. Longer process, but for those on a budget, on a square foot basis the project will cost about 1/10 of the price of the foam panels.

    I don't know if you read comments on older vids, but I'm wondering if you think this would work for a wall in a mobile home. I know there's a concern about weight on walls in mobile homes. The wall I want to do is only 7x7ish. I've been considering the self-stick ssquare foam panels but I dunno. Also, if you know a contractor in Palm Springs who would be interested in doing the job, please let me know. I'm not skilled enough nor do I have the tools to do it.

    Wondering if it will help w sound and somewhat hard or will a vacuum cleaner dent it. So how did you 'take care' of the horizontal issue in the end? You know what stinks is on their website they say it should never have that 'look' w the line. what about staggering the panels themselves so theyre not straight across? you think that would work better?
    Good proverb, I wrote it down!

    • @BobsTwoCarGarage
      @BobsTwoCarGarage  4 года назад

      It’s in a sound stage and seems to work well the rest of the studio has only minimal acoustical material. It’s durable no problem with denting so far. I think the line problem might have been unique to that batch if I had noticed sooner I would have remilled the panels myself with my table saw on the back side to make them fit better. As it turned out they were happy. It wasn’t terribly noticeable except to a critical eye.

      Cindy Robinson there is a wide range of possibilities depending on your budget. Fiberglass is least expensive and carefree. Depending on the look you want there’s corrugated metal, teak wood. A high end but carefree option would be solid surface like quartz or stone slabs.

    I would love to add this in my basement. Do you think gluing it to concrete walls would hold?

      A good adhesive will hold the trick is holding it in place until it dries. A more sure way would be to first screw 3/4” x 4” strips of wood strips to the concrete about every 16” and then attach the faux brick to the strips. Get it?
