As a brick layer I think his method was fine. It’s not tile, doesn’t have to be perfect. In fact it looks better with some joint variant if you ask me. I would have started in the corners to avoid large head joints, but his bed joints look consistent
From your experience in brick laying, say you were to use this method to clad a whole exterior (like of a timber frame / concrete form house) would you say this would turn out cheaper than building with actual brick / block or more expensive?
@@oyster3145 If you use brick veneer outside , better consider about moisture, and (i don't know veneer grouting glue is hard or elastic) difference of expansion and contraction between brick and metal/wooden stud frame.
is the brick painted if not it would be easy i use 3/8 inch spacers you can buy them at home depot lowes any tile place you can use type s mortor mix from lowes home depot you can also use thinset mortor but you would have to be very clean

I want to remove this terrible job in my 1970s kitchen, is that possible or will I have to remove the wall and replace it? It’s such an eye sore and where the white lines would be they are black…. 💀
It’s out of habit / muscle memory. He’s probably used to scooping powder (dry cement) or slush (liquid cement) maybe. I do the same thing when I’m measuring cups of brown rice/lentils (which is normal, to level out the top) but then I do the same thing for cups of water 😂
First of all it's not veneer it's a thin veneer. Second dont use fucking glue.... either usemetal lathe and a scratch coat of mortar, or use cement board. Then adhere the brick with mortar, preferably a polymer modified mortar. You can buy a mortar mix at any home improvement store. There product is no better than any other.

Can this product be applied directly to any normal existing drywall, or does it require a special backing board?
It can work on drywall in perfect circumstances but you should probably buy a cement board to be sure and safe. Better bond.

So another question could the thinset mortar be used instead of the stone wap glue and the lime grout instead of the stone wrap grout?

Hi, no but you can see our floor tiles here: www.stonewrap.com/en/products/paver
Do you have to apply grout? We like the look of brick on the wall without it but I’m not sure if the brick veneer will stick
The grout is just for decoration, and serves no other purpose beyond that.
