Ashley , I did it! I installed the same board and batten as you showed on your channel! I'm so proud of the job I did, because you did a great job showing us how to do it! I wish I could post a pic. It is pretty much identical! LolvThank you!
I have watched two of your tutorial's and want to say thank you for the complete instructions. Many others jump right to buy the boards and poof they are installed.
Yes it is paintable. I think using the caulk will leave you with a more finished, professional and seamless look. I use Alex Flex Trim Caulk and it dries pretty fast and then you paint right over it.
Hi Ashley I just bought the materials to install this board and batten . I love the style you created very much! I’m not a DIYer by all means, but I’m willing to try. This will be installed in my front entry. The wall is 9 ft wide by 10 ft tall. Using the inch calculator, it states that if I want 4 , the width should be 20 1/4 inches. I’m wondering if the top boxes should be that size box, or if it would look better if it was a bit narrower. What are the measurements you have for the top boxes? What is a good rule of thumb for the top box measurements? New subscriber. Love your channel Tfs
So the top boxes should be the same width as the bottom boxes, that way the vertical boards on the bottom line up with the vertical boards on the top, but the top boxes will be smaller in height than the bottom.
Hi Ashley, if the baseboard thickness is around 0.5 inch and if i use mdf board with 1 inch thickness.. will that look odd? Shall i use 0.5 inch thick mdf board. Not planning on removing the base board
If you are able to use MDF that is the same thickness as your baseboards that would definitely be the easiest option. If you end up using MDF that is thicker, I did make a video on my instagram showing a solution to this problem. Here is the video: instagram.com/reel/Cg-ocUGMDNU/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Your tutorials are the absolute best! Thank you!

Very nice! I can do this. 👍
😊great tutorial
Thank you! 😊
Is the caulk for the seams necessary and is it paintable? My walls aren’t going to stay white.

perfect thank you! I did this yesterday using your tutorial and it helped so much! I’ll finish up with the caulk and painting today! Thanks!
Beautiful! What did you use for the inside trim pieces?
Its called Finger Joint Basecap Moulding and I have it linked in the second video of me installing it :)
Can this be done on textured walls? Love your wall.
Yes! All of my walls have orange peel texture and I still do my accent walls on them and they look great! :)
I am so new to DIY - would you recommend a laser level for a project like this, or do you not think that it's worth it?!
It is not necessary for this project. I have done a few of these same style accent walls and haven't used one on this particular type of accent wall.
So helpful! How tall are the ceilings here?
My ceilings are 8ft tall.

@@mrsashleyfrench thank you for your response!
If you're doing the wall in a color other than what it already is, would ypu recommend painting the wall first?
Yes I would paint the wall first.
@@mrsashleyfrench what color did you paint your walls?
@@connieo1415 they are 'Pure White' by Sherwin Williams.
