- Showing the process of building the fuel system for the pickup. I used a Holley electric red pump, Holley billet 6AN 100 micron fuel filter, 6AN braided stainless steel hose, Summit 40 micron filter, and assortment of fittings. Thanks for watching! Future channel projects include my 2016 chevy ss cam and headers install and a third gen firebird 5.3 turbo build.
IMO. The best way to cut stainless braided is wrapping a zip tie around the line and cut through it parallel and straight through the clamp area as a guide the gently peel tie off and a perfect straight cut and no frays. I get them first time every time that way…my .02
That’s a great tip!
I ran -6 to my pump and -4 for return with a Holley blue pump. Cured my vapor lock issues 440 mopar mill.
I've had 3 Edelbrock fuel pumps fail on me ,off the shelf from the parts store , i might use Holly next time . Great video thx for sharing ✌
Hello, as an old aircraft mechanic the job looks very good. Vibration and stainless steel braided hose will wear though the rubber like a file in no time. If you could get a small roll of teflon tape, wrap it around the braided hose under the clamp, where the clamp is closed and tight not deformed, the tape will allow the hose and clamp to move freely from heat destortion. Looks nice keep up the good work
Thank you very much Gary. I’ve never heard that tip before but I will be sure to do that. Thanks a lot for the information and compliment.
Hi Gary, You brought back memories of my Dad who was an aircraft mechanic in the Navy in WW2 and Korea. Blessings to you from Michigan.
FYI, after cutting the braided line, leave the tape on so it is easier to put the nut fitting on. then you can pull the tape off. No screwdriver needed.
I did close to what your doing I ran my 6 an line up the firewall and across to avoid the engine & exhaust heat. Worked out great. I have my filter and regulator there too so they're easy to change. Nice looking job. Mines a 65 GTO.
Nice video very helpful 👍 I would suggest a shut off valve between the pump and the tank. It makes future filter changes or repairs a breeze.
Thank you and that would be an excellent idea with the valve!
Excellent info Tami!!!! Thank you.
Going to do an identical system for my Ford Falcon. Thanks for the diagram and all the accessory stuff.
That’s awesome hope it turns out great!
Quick tip after cutting leave tape on slide fitting on take tape off oh and use air to blow out line after cutting or all that crap goes in your new filter
Thanks for the tip I will try that out for sure
Loved it man… following your journey
Awesome video man. About to tackle this project soon on a Chevelle and Never done it before. I’ve been thumbing through a bunch of videos on here that didn’t really answer the questions I had. But, this is perfect man. I normally don’t comment on shit but, this was extremely helpful.
Thanks man I appreciate it!
Thank you brother for a great video! Very informative and precise. Cheers from Motown!!
Concerning AN sizes, 6 AN is 6/16" or 3/8" if this helps. Most likely the 3/8" is NPT threads. AN is Army/Navy adopted sizing.
Leave the tape on until you get your fitting on...
Sharpies will also cure wrench marks
Great info
Great content bro!!!💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿🔥🔥🔥
kiNg SiX313 thanks man!
Buen trabajo!!! Ese sistema por la presión que genera usa línea de retorno??? Gracias
Gracias. Yo hablo espanol muy paquito. Sistema no necesario retorno para pumpa. Otro pumpas necesario.
Looking good!
Thanks!
What kind of fittings did you use? Can you put the description in the comment? Thank you for your video, Ima do this to my truck!
I used the summit racing brand 6 AN fittings
I really liked the diagram. I just think you should of included the wiring also. Can you explain how you did your hot wire?
Sorry for the late reply. I ended up using the power wire that would have been used for the factory fuel pump because it originally had a electric in tank pump.
@@Robs_garage90 Thanks for getting back to me. When I opened the holley box the instruction was there. 3 different ways. I guess next time I will open the box first. LOL
Lol sounds good man
What did you do with the manual fuel pump. Did you remove it?
Yes I removed it and installed a block off plate where it mounts
Was a relay used to connect the pump and power source?
Yes I used the factory power wire
What is the noise level on the pump? I have the same pump on my "54 Ford F100. It makes a loud whining noise. Looking for a quieter replacement....
It’s definitely noisy
How did it work out for you, I restore a 72 GMC having problems with vapor locking with stock pump.
Dale Poe I did end up adding a return and regulator but I still have not driven the truck because I am still in the process of finishing it
@@Robs_garage90 why did you add a regulator and a return line?
just curios?..
larry
I actually just ended up doing it because I already had the parts from another project and I wanted to see my fuel pressure, but I did run the truck without the regulator.
@@Robs_garage90 Excellent advice Rob!
@@mafosa8519 A return line back to the tank virtually eliminates vapor lock issues as the fuel stays a lot cooler and don't boil to vapor. Hope this helps. Select a fuel pressure regulator with the by-pass back to tank. Holley has good kits for Carb or EFI.
Do you have a part number or brand of fuel line you bought to make the custom lengths.
I bought the summit racing brand 6AN fuel line. I believe it came in a 20 foot length
Pressure regulator
fact if you dont run a return line it will run like crap.. internal reg in pump is fools gold. never works right
Nice to know Tim! Good info.
How do you speak spanish my friend no piki english my friend
Sorry I do not speak Spanish
Throw that noisy fuel pump in the trash.
