    This was a great video straight to the point and good angles. Did you mean remove passenger wheel off? @ 29:40 in video. And is it easier to separate tranny from engine with both axels out just like you did the driver side in video? Thanks.

    • @morantb
      @morantb  2 года назад +1

      Yes just like I did on the driver's side, I would also remove the passenger side wheel and axle to make it easier to reinstall the axles into the transmission.

    boss i have a question how high should i lift the scion from the ground to remove the transmission in the bottom. thanks for the answer boss

    • @morantb
      @morantb  Год назад

      I used QuickJacks which lift the car 17" off the ground and that was good. Cant remember if less would have worked or not.

    Thank you! I bought my first Scion the day you posted this. Greatly appreciated. I've done plenty of clutches, just never a Toyota. There is no pilot bearing on these?

    • @morantb
      @morantb  2 года назад

      I'm not sure about the pilot bearing. This is my first time doing this job and the only things that came in the clutch kit were the clutch disc, pressure plate and release bearing.

      Yeah sorry about that. I got into it and forgot to record. Some angles were hard to get on film while working as well.

    How do you get the bolt out from the passenger side above where the axle is located? Mine is stuck because the metal guard thingy is blocking it.

      @@mizk419 At 12:40 in the video where I refer to "The third mount bolt from under the car", is this the bolt you are asking about? For that bolt I was able to squeeze a combo wrench in there and unscrew the bolt little by little.

    Thank you, I appreciate the video but IMHO you glossed over the difficulty related to the rear motor mount. I'm no professional but I consider myself a very experienced shade tree and I've done other FWD clutches. I'm writing this after a few hours of still trying to get out bolt #3 top behind the motor mount.

    • @morantb
      @morantb  10 месяцев назад

      What is preventing you from getting that bolt out ?

    • @VinceLynott
      @VinceLynott 10 месяцев назад

      There are three bolts from the motor mount to the Trans. One is exposed and easy. Two sit in the middle of the "U" with the motor mount behind. Can't get a socket on it and can't get much leverage with a box wrench. The one on the top only gave me about an inch and a half L literally just got them out after many hours. Humorously I have no clue yet how I'm going to get them back, Remove the motor mount after the Trans is out I guess. Thank you for asking. @@morantb

      I think I know which one you are talking about. I had to wrap a string around the bolt in the direction needed so that when I unwind it it threads in. Then I held the bolt against the hole with a long screwdriver while I pulled the string with the other hand.

    • @VinceLynott
      @VinceLynott 10 месяцев назад

      Not sure I can top that but it's going in my bag of tricks.
      To get enough leverage to break the top rusted bolt free I held a box wrench in with a screw driver then attached a length of chain hooked over the open end of the wrench to a come-a-long and the hitch on my van. Clunky but it worked. @@morantb

    Also, thanks for the video, I have to change out my clutch in my 2006 xB soon

      I tried to modify it to work but couldn't make it happen. The shape of the end wasn't correct for fitting into the fly wheel center.
