Brandon, I can't say enough good things about your channel. I have an 08 xB, and my wife has an 06 xB. Thanx to your great personality and your explanations of all things box related, we are slowly getting more done to her xB again soon. Last year it was a new stereo. This year, it's new speakers. I used all of your links that work to fill a list for buying all of the gadgets and gizmos! I replaced her alternator today and thought I would get into her new speakers tomorrow! That is until I saw all of the CORN, I mean stuff that has to come out of the back to change those! 😅 We'll get to it soon, but I can't thank you enough for all of your videos on the box. We've watched you for years now with no end in sight. Hope you had a Merry Christmas, and we'll see ya in 2023.
I remember doing this on my old '05 😢 RIP. 6.5" kickers all around, with larger upgraded tweeters. I didn't have an amp or sub but with my old android head unit it was fine for me. Nice vid B!
I wish this were on here a year ago, I had to dig deep to find info on the rear speaker access 😂 glad someone uploaded a reliable tip, and much more as I can see, I am subscribed! Love these cars!
Man, this really helped me installed the speakers on my 2004 BB. Thank God, I didn't have to remove the rear seats in my BB. At least they got something right in the JDM version with regards to the rear seats. The rear seats fold all the way up to the back of the front seats. It was so much faster with that tiny feature. I definitely enjoyed your content, brother. The BB and XB are the same in most ways except the steering wheel is on the wrong side in the BB. LOL.
I have a BB, but how did you get your seats to flip over?? Right now I folded the backrest over and onto the seat, but idk how to get it folded forward and more out of the way
The bass blockers- received them yesterday, installed this morning using the TIC+NN connectors ( picked up both from the same links provided) PERFECT! It's what I was missing. JL audio C2 3.5 dash speakers were popping, installed the blockers and voila clean clear sound and most importantly NO POPS. Thanks dude🤟😎
Brandon, I love your channel! I am a proud owner of my second generation, 2005 Scion xb! My first generation 1 2005 Scion xB was around 36,000 miles. My second generation 1 2005 Scion xb I just purchased has 136,000 miles. It is white like yours. Overjoyed to own it!! Thanks for all your videos, I enjoy them so much! When it rains in Florida, find a space in the garage for your toaster! Lol!!
Brandon the center piece sticks on the door directly behind the speaker...it’s made to absorb any sound waves going into the door. Their made to force all music into the car and not get trapped in the door....I’ll send you a pic of mine when I get home tonight.
I know that CxB use to have a really good write up back around '10. When I upgraded my rear speakers for the second time I stripped it all out and mounted them in the rear windows since my rear windows are covered anyway. But the tip they gave for removing the bottom seat from the hook is to climb in the back seat facing the backseat, lift up the front, push it towards the back of the car, and pull up and out. It should come out fairly easily and the reinstall is just the opposite. I've done it that way several times for various mods I've done in the rear over the years.
I tried that and it didn't work for me. Now that I have removed the rear seats twice, (did it again yesterday to install the sub and amp) the easiest way is to remove the two seat backs and then remove the seat cushion last. It's much easier. Thanks for watching.
Your a freaking saint dude thanks for all the valuable information, I’m fairly mechanically skilled and these videos are so clean thanks a bunch for all the upgrade ideas
Sick throwback TT bro! Like you no one calls me wise man, the wife calls me wise a$$ but she does call me by something that you and I can share, resourceful. You always find a way to get it done and for a dime and that's what makes the channel so badass! Too bad we can't hear the sound but no doubt it's sick, the difference in my box after the sound upgrade was huge and with that said I do believe I warned you a few vids back that the rear speaker swap is a pain. Boom on bro!
I just got finished installing the amp and sub and now everything is just incredible. It's a HUGE difference. Thanks for the love and always watching JC!
I just bought a nice 2 owner 05 camo green xB with a manual transmission at 88000 miles! Already picked up the st rear sway bar, factory fog lights, aftermarket armrest, some Toyota oil filters, oil, and plugs. Looking forward to wrenching on it. This car was bone stock and nearly 100%.
I’m not sure if anyone else has mentioned it but those bolts that you replaced the factory ones with are called socket head bolts. Just an FYI. Other than that I really appreciate everything that you showed me and everyone else. I just got a 06 XB about a month ago and I have already replaced the head unit with a Pioneer avic-x940bt that I paid almost as much for back in 2016 as I did for the XB now. I also had a set of JBL factory speakers from a 06 Toyota Tacoma that have been in storage for about eight years or so that I replaced the front door speakers with and they were an exact match down to the plug for the speaker wires. While the JBL speakers sound amazing compared to the old Pioneers that came in the car I’m still not happy. I’m now in the process of installing the power wires for my amps and I have a Kicker 650.4 amp that I want to use for everything except for my subs so I’m going to have to get creative. I have 4 Orion component 6.5 mid bass speakers and 1”tweeters with the crossovers for them that I purchased for another vehicle but I enjoy driving the toaster so much that I’m thinking about using them for it. Then I have several mono amps that I can choose from for my subs and then I have two sets of 12” subs a set of 10” subs and a set of 8” subs that I have to choose between for my BASS. Then again maybe I should just do away with the back seat altogether and use them all !!!!! The only thing that I haven’t got already is the 3.5” dashboard speakers. I’m not sure what kind I want to use for those yet. Anyway I got sidetracked and forgot that I was thanking you for showing me everything that I have to remove to get to those back speakers. WOW is all that I can say. It’s unbelievable how hard they made it to replace them and I would have probably broken a few things if not for this video so thank you for the information and for saving me a few bucks for replacement parts that would have been broken otherwise. I would love to hear from you about my choice of equipment for my toaster and have a Happy New Year because it’s about two and a half hours until 2023 right now. Keep up the good work and I will be look for your other videos the next time I need to do something else on my XB.
I probably watched that video, and have read that info on Crutchfield. I do a ton of research before I make these videos, but even then I still get stuff wrong. I try to the best info out there for everyone. I hope it helps. Thanks for watching!
I know this is an old video (and is definitely going be helpful to me) but how do you get and keep your interior so clean?!?! Im the third or fourth owner and when it comes to the inside its tough to get all those stains and nooks
Hey great video! So I'm going to just cut a hole in the back to access the speaker wire for a line out converter. Are the wires in the same spot on the driver side?
I have an 05 Scion xB that I got a blaupunkt stereo for and I was wondering if you know where I can buy a harness that will go from the blaupunkt right into the Scion stock wiring harness? I would also like information on where to get the speaker wire extensions and also the bass fuses for the tweeters

I changed mine a few weeks ago but now I’m jealous, those will sound amazing. I did make brackets for my dash one with some “L brackets” I found at Lowe’s. The back ones I did use the spacers but I just drill onto the body to install the 6.5.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers yeah they spacers didn’t work, didn’t remove the seats but everything else I did, and just pushed the panels to the side to give me some space to drill onto the body and use some rubber seal around the speakers to dampen the vibration a little. They sound ok lol
i found that the quickest n easiest way for me to make those little extension pieces for the front speakers is to just use a piece of (metal) Plumbers Tape! :)
Hey, the video is great and will probably be my tutor for when i switch out my speakers. One of them has a terrible buzz and I'd like to find a replacement. Reaching out to the Scion-xb/automotive world to ask which speakers they recommend. I have the brackets and wires ready, just need to purchase the speakers (6.5"). Thanks in advance! 👍
Great video man what u think about cutting that plastic piece that's covering the speaker in the rear I was thinking about changing mine but I dint wanna deal with taking the seats out
Hello how's it going great video, where did you get the ladder racks to fit the Scion I have a 2005 Scion xB the exact same car and I have been looking for some good ladder racks. If you can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. Thank you
any reason why you took out the bottom of the back seat before the back of it? taking out the back first would've made removing the seat portion much easier
Hey bro, your videos are really helpful, thank you!! Need your help, I bought the Alpine S65C and im confused with the tweeter install. I have the adapters for the woofers but not for the tweeters. Does it need one or do i just cut and slice the wire like you did in this video? Thanks for your help! Btw im installing them on my 2011 scion xb RS.
How badly needed are the bass blockers? Is that something that is incorporated into the stock ones? I ordered new 3.5s, cause the right is blown, I haven't gotten them yet but should I get the bass blocker before I put the new ones in? Thanks
I just bought a xb 2005 320.000 miles runs good but rattles when it starts and runs cold has new timing chain they say any information you got could help
Great vid on the rear speaker install bro. My xb is currently under construction at this time too. I choose the 6.5 kickr., sound deadinning doors with some stuff I found at hm depot. And throwing some insulation in on top of that. Just cancel out external noises as well as weatherizing for cold and hot weather. What size screws did u use for the speaker adapters to the metal on door and the speaker to the adaptors?
Love the video. I love this intro music way better than your other one. I don't have to keep adjusting the volume. I love how the mistakes you make I would definitely make the same. Who reads instructions anyways? For someone like me going through covid depression, you are very entertaining. Thank you. BTW, I think your wife may be looking for you. ;)
Ha! Did you see her peeping around the corner! She was probably wondering who I was talking to!! Lol. I know that's what all the neighbors think! Thanks for watching. We'll get though this! Working on your car is great therapy. It will give you something else to get angry about!! Lol
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers Yeah, that was unexpected and very funny. So glad you didn't take it out. Your neighbors must be like "Mayble, there he goes again, talking to himself." haha :)
I change my speakers out except for the rear still sounds good I have to 12” in a pro box in the back but I need to upgrade my wires the hot wire to zero gauge
In my opinion, it was not better sounding than the stock setup. Obviously the new setup blows stock out of the water, but these cars come with a very good stock setup.
LMAO! mine was just as fun. I also didn't research the dash speaker size/mount. I rigged mine with some random piece of plastic i found to make the dash speakers mount 😆 🤣 the rear was equal parts exciting and strange (wondering why there was so many different types of dog hair , chips , and how long the McDonald's fries were there) anyways , always fun watching you go through my struggles lol.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers i found a really good deal on a set of 3.5 JL audio. I feel like I should have gone with a larger speaker on the dash. The JL's work fine, better if I installed the adapter you soldered on...
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers my next move is to replace the kicker 6.5''s in the cargo area with 6.5 sub woofers , to then place the 6.5 kickers in a kick panel that goes by the front door under the dash by the floor panel on driver and passenger sides (sold at Crutchfield). Looking at nano amps (tell me your thoughts on them and or brands). BTW I'm diggin that head unit
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers fair enough. I saw a kid in a sentra with the serious sound 😳, got to talking and he shows the set up... at first I didn't believe him , because he showed me what looked like the battery to an RC car... mind blown , fact checked , now officially intrigued
You should put a 12"×12" piece of deadener behind the speaker on the the body panel and on the interior metal panel around the speaker for sound resonance. Will increase sound quality!!
Try rolling down your front window and see if it touches the foam pad I think the speaker rings at least the back part of it is suppose to go on the door not directly to the back of the speakers I have some in my box from sound skins and they recommend to put them on the inside of the door but overall love the video keep up the good work I have an awesome costom sub box for my xb I want to send it to you when I decided to update my system
Wutcha gonna do with those practically new pioneers in the dash and front doors? I take hand me downs...neh☺️. I'm waiting for another great sale on infiniti's. Thanks for showing the install and all the adaptive tips.
Hey Man I love your scion videos, I just bought an 06 xb in great shape. But when I am at a red light the car idles kinda rough and kinda shaking. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
Tune up -- Get the high end NGK iridium spark plugs they are worth the money in the Xb, night and day. and maybe clean throttle body and use some Lucas fuel treatment 💯
Upgraded my front speakers. Problem is the ones I got online have absolutely no base. I am thinking of replacing them or maybe take the opportunity to install a sub and amp.
Should have just cut out the old blown speaker from the mounting bracket the factory speaker was built into. Save you 20$ and a plus you don't have to remove the rivets you can just leave mounted in the car but once you have the speaker actually knocked out file down the edges from where the speaker was mounted to it then hold the new speaker up after hooking the wires up and screw it in
i put coaxial speaker in my fronts and i feel like the stock are midrange speakers. wouldnt midrange sound better since the dash are tweeters? i feel like all the bass is gone.
That just went right over my head. I kinda know what you are saying, but I am no expert when it comes to this subject. I recommend doing some research on audio forums to get a good answer. I'm really happy with my setup. I think it's the best I've ever had. Good luck.
That foam tape is Speaker gasket tape it supposed to go behind you speaker for good airtight seal and you should put fast rings on the front of the speaker, I had mine installed at Best Buy and my Pioneer components sound amazing next I'm going to add some second Pioneer components to the front with Q form kick panels also with some Morel Maximo components in the back
Hello i got the wire strippers also. I HAVE A ?? I AM OLD SCHOOL IM GONNA BE PUTTING A SONY EXPLODE SINGLE DIN STEREO IN MY SCION THAT HAS A REMOTE I BOUGHT ALL THE CONECTORS TO WIRE INTO FACTORY HARNESS LIKE YOU DID I HAVE A SINGLE DIN SDAPTER TO PUT RADIO IN. OK I DID GET A PLUG THAT PLUGS IN TO MY STEREO BUT ITS FOR 4 SPEAKERS?? I COULD NOT FIND ONE FOR 6 SPEAKERS AS WE HAVE IN OUR RIDES?? WHAT AM I GONNA HAVE TO DO ? TO WIRE MY OTHER 2 SPEAKERS IN? I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR HELP? I WAS TOLD THEY MADE A 6 WAY PLUG BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND IT??
I would recommend watching this video again and my other speaker installation video. I haven't had this car in years so I don't remember. The videos have all the answers. Good luck.
So I have just done this, basically like for like. Installed the Hikity 10.1 tablet, works great very happy. Then installed a sub, works great very happy... but then I go and replace all the stock speakers and they crackle and distort and are just awful... they also do not correspond to the correct speaker position when trying to configure the sound settings, rear left thins its a tweeter, tweeters think they are a sub woofer etc... Cant figure out why. Literally just unplugged the old factory speakers and soldered in the new ones.
*watches front speaker installs* “oh wow that doesn’t seem too hard!” *starts working on back speakers* “on second thought, the factory speakers aren’t THAT bad….”
The real question is: Are you still using the stock head unit? 2. find and buy the stock powered Bazooka tube, order the oem harness, it makes all the difference in the world.
6:17am and i just finished swapping my speakers thanks to you!

Does it need one or do i just cut and slice the wire like you did in this video? Thanks for your help! Btw im installing them on my 2011 scion xb RS.
Sorry, I've never installed tweeters. Keep looking on RUclips. There has to be video somewhere. Good luck.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers no worries bro, found another video about it. Ty
How badly needed are the bass blockers? Is that something that is incorporated into the stock ones? I ordered new 3.5s, cause the right is blown, I haven't gotten them yet but should I get the bass blocker before I put the new ones in? Thanks
I would. Otherwise your risk blowing them again.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers Yeah I guess I dont want them blown again.
Dope video I like how you explain things very well thank you so much keep on going love your Xbox
Glad I could help thanks for watching!
hey will you have a similar video for the Prelude? My front speakers are looking gnarly! and I'm sure they could sound better too!
No, but it would be the same for any car. The Lude sounds too good on it's own to worry about speakers.
I just bought a xb 2005 320.000 miles runs good but rattles when it starts and runs cold has new timing chain they say any information you got could help
Do u plan 2 install an amp and subwoofer?
Watch the video and find out!
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers You didn't read my other msg,I SAID U ANSWERED IT ALREADY AT THE END
I just saw it!!!
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers Do you ever plan to air ride ur suspension?
Nah.
10mm I think.
Whats up bro!!! Love the videos!
Glad you like them!
The ring part, are you putting that on the actual speaker or on the car door around the speaker?
Around the speaker.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers Thanks!!
Are the speakers compatible with an 08 xb?
I'm not sure. Google it. Thanks for watching.
Are the speaker adapters the same for front and back
Check the links in the description , bro. It's all there!
did the rear speaker’s magnets fit directly into the hole thats in the panel for you?
Nope. You need the adapter.
Cool intro even better content... 👌🏽
Thanks!
Hes my scion xb hero. Rough time frame taken to do the whole gig?
3 hours or less thanks to this video!
I change my speakers out except for the rear still sounds good I have to 12” in a pro box in the back but I need to upgrade my wires the hot wire to zero gauge
I left the rears alone for years, but now I can pull the rear apart in 15 minutes. It's easy once you know how. Thanks for watching.
Do you have no bass at all running through your door speakers at all?
Bass still runs to the door and hatch speakers. There is no bass running to the dash speakers.
I've put vibe series 6 6.5inch door speakers all round In my leon mk2 and the back sound very bad like there distorting but there brand new
Awesome videos man! The Pioneer you had in before infinity, was it an upgrade from the factory speakers sounded better then stock?
In my opinion, it was not better sounding than the stock setup. Obviously the new setup blows stock out of the water, but these cars come with a very good stock setup.
Will you sell those dash speakers for a fellow Scion owner
Nope. One was blown and they have been thrown out.
LMAO! mine was just as fun.
You are not alone!!! Lol. It sounds like the exact same issues!! What speakers did you go with? How do you like them?
I don't know anything about amps, unfortunately. I installed a Planet Audio amp and seems to be working fine.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers fair enough. I saw a kid in a sentra with the serious sound 😳, got to talking and he shows the set up... at first I didn't believe him , because he showed me what looked like the battery to an RC car... mind blown , fact checked , now officially intrigued
Looks clean 👌.
Thanks!
Another dope video bro. Quick question do you have to take out the back seat or could you just lay it down? Thanks bro 🤙🏽🤙🏽
You have to remove it. There is no other way. It only takes me 15 minutes now.
You should put a 12"×12" piece of deadener behind the speaker on the the body panel and on the interior metal panel around the speaker for sound resonance. Will increase sound quality!!
Great tip. Thanks for watching.
Can I put a 4 inch speaker in the dash to fix the bracket situation?
Maybe. The better solution is to buy speakers that actually fit.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers according to Crutchfield the 4 in. should fit diameterwise, the question is the height. what do u think pal?
What is the part number for the wire harness on the dash?
Check the video's description for links to everything.
its not listed., how ever i did notice that u used another makeshift harness. @@ExtremeDailyDrivers
What brand of roof rack do you have?
Inno. I did a video on it.
Interesting. You may be correct. My windows aren't hitting, so that's at least some good news. Thanks for commenting!
Nice thank you for this. I wanna either cut out thw speaker grill or modify it amd add a clear one. Id like to see the pimp speakers.😊
It would be nice to see them, but honestly no one is ever back there. Thanks for watching!
Wutcha gonna do with those practically new pioneers in the dash and front doors? I take hand me downs...neh☺️. I'm waiting for another great sale on infiniti's. Thanks for showing the install and all the adaptive tips.
I reinstalled them into the Miata. Thanks for watching!
Hey Man I love your scion videos, I just bought an 06 xb in great shape. But when I am at a red light the car idles kinda rough and kinda shaking. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
Tune up -- Get the high end NGK iridium spark plugs they are worth the money in the Xb, night and day. and maybe clean throttle body and use some Lucas fuel treatment 💯
hello...I need to know where is located the fuse for the son roof on my 2005 scion xb. please...thks...sergio
Upgraded my front speakers. Problem is the ones I got online have absolutely no base. I am thinking of replacing them or maybe take the opportunity to install a sub and amp.
Check out my sub and amp video and add more bass!
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers I will. Thanks!
Should have just cut out the old blown speaker from the mounting bracket the factory speaker was built into. Save you 20$ and a plus you don't have to remove the rivets you can just leave mounted in the car but once you have the speaker actually knocked out file down the edges from where the speaker was mounted to it then hold the new speaker up after hooking the wires up and screw it in
nice
What the hell does 20$ mean?!? Is that money from another planet? Here on Earth, it’s $20.
Great informative video
Glad it was helpful!
i put coaxial speaker in my fronts and i feel like the stock are midrange speakers. wouldnt midrange sound better since the dash are tweeters? i feel like all the bass is gone.
That just went right over my head. I kinda know what you are saying, but I am no expert when it comes to this subject. I recommend doing some research on audio forums to get a good answer. I'm really happy with my setup. I think it's the best I've ever had. Good luck.
Really needed more detail about actually installing
Please check out my other video on speaker installation.
That foam tape is Speaker gasket tape it supposed to go behind you speaker for good airtight seal and you should put fast rings on the front of the speaker, I had mine installed at Best Buy and my Pioneer components sound amazing next I'm going to add some second Pioneer components to the front with Q form kick panels also with some Morel Maximo components in the back
Yep, try watching the ENTIRE video next time.
I did 6.5s back there. They mount offset to the plastic panel, which I think honestly blocks some of the performance
I want to install 6.5 woofers in the back of my '06 xB. What type of brackets did you use?
Man I wish I had a garage
Get one!!
Brian have you thought about a high output alternator or a lithium battery?
No, there is no need. I'm at 14.5 volts every time I start the car.
Hahaha that intro made me laugh so hard bro sweet video
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
What wing is that???
It's from Russia. I did a video on it. Just search the channel. Thanks for watching.
Good luck.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers you sell your scion xb???
@@jeantaylor6785 Yep. I did a video on it.
an amp was not necessary for 4 reference speakers?
Nope
how much does all this normally cost
Links in the description for everything.
I GOT THE WHOLE STEREO SYSTEM YOU JUST PUT IN YOURS FROM YOUR AMAZON LINKS COMEING TO ME THANKS
Hell yeah! Enjoy! It's a great set up. Thanks for watching.
That is weird. Maybe you have a bad ground somewhere. What ever it is, I'm sure it's a simple fix. You'll figure it out. I have faith in you.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers Thanks for the encouragement! We are going to have another go at it on Saturday, fingers crossed its something stupid! xD
23:58 peek-a-boo
That was funny, wasn't it?
*watches front speaker installs* “oh wow that doesn’t seem too hard!”
*starts working on back speakers* “on second thought, the factory speakers aren’t THAT bad….”
100% facts. 😂🤣
The real question is: Are you still using the stock head unit?
2. find and buy the stock powered Bazooka tube, order the oem harness, it makes all the difference in the world.
Check out my other xB videos for the answer.
That was thinking out side of the box ha see what I did there
Lol u answered it at the end
I sure did!! Thanks for watching!
not putting a sub in there?
I did. Search the channel for the video.
OMG! I'm guessing they couldn't have made it any harder?! I'm A.D.D.. I would never have the patients.
Where is the spare? Normally, it's bare metal in the spare well, but you have a flat carpeted floor. Your own creation?
It's there. I pulled it out.
You was funny is that I put a 8inch on my doors
