Through this masterpiece, Sakamoto literally translated all the pain and the sorrow of Kitty and Port in that very scene, so intense was his comprehension about that moment. I wonder how many musicians would have such gift. RIP Riyuchi, and accept my gratitude for touching our Souls so deeply.
“Because we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, an afternoon that is so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four, five times more, perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps 20. And yet it all seems limitless.” ... indefinable
Sakamoto´s Masterpiece for me...this music tears my soul, it is sweet and it is sad as life itself, THANKS FOR YOUR MUSIC THANKS FOR YOUR TALENT MR: SAKAMOTO, MAY YOU REST IN PEACE...
That’s for sure: at the beginning it’s quite slow, but afterwards the drama begins, there are exeptional scènes which people who never have been to Morocco don’t understand. I’ve been more than 20 times, It all starts with the different between tourists & travellers. Magnificent photography. See the book by Scribners. A movie you can see time & time again, because it’s so beautifull...
I read the book and saw the movie and this song was always in my head. It's hard to describe, it feels like life is passing through your eyes and you can't stop time, you can't stop things will be always changing, feeling as little as a grain of sand in the middle of the desert.
In my opinion, this theme is so sad.It touch in our deepest feelings and our deepest soul teaching us that somethings cannot be solved by the scientific and rational mind and only we can understanding It if we have a strong sense about our real emotions and about who we really are.
You have just defined what Kitty and Port were living and feeling in that very scene. If you remember that sequence, you will realize that the couple has nothing and no one around them: just the enrmous desert and a huge Silence screaming through their hearts.
Such a overwhelming Feeling of satisfaction to enjoy listening to this musical work of a true genius. May your Art always shine a light into Peoples Heart Mr. Sakamoto 🕊 💌❣
Your country is beautiful indeed. I only visited northern part of it and my favorite town was Fez. I hope someday I get a chance to see magnificent southern part of your home land after seeing Sheltering Sky movie. It reminded me of Yazd in my home land Iran or believe it or not Pueblo Village north of Santa Fe New Mexico. I love magnificent mod architectures in the heart of desert anywhere in this beautiful world.
Excitingly sad to hear this version of "The Sheltering Sky-On The Hill-Ryuichi Sakamoto", to feel the heart shrink into smaller and smaller pieces, emptying us, and to hear this honey sound in loop impossible to stop it, dying without end
Forse altre quattro o cinque volte, forse nemmeno. Quante altre volte guarderete levarsi la luna? Forse venti. Eppure tutto sembra senza limite -Bowles-

"Live like you will die tomorrow. Learn like you will live forever."
This is a very difficult film. It is brilliant, of course, but I think that only 1 out of 1,000 people [maybe even less] is able to appreciate it.

제인생 최고의 잊지못할 영화인데.
그만큼 영감을 주었던 영화.
그뒤에 사카모토의 음악이 있었군요.
뒤늦게너무나 감사한마음이.

great movie, great novel by Paul Bowles
Una obra maestra.
I'm deeply involved into this opera prima. Sakamoto's minimalistic sense drives us, in this no return, Bottomless ground
This music makes me cry for my beloved love Who passed away recently
So beautiful, so sad.
Extraordinarios actores una película increible
Impresionante Bowles Bertolucci

+Paul Charon I agree magic Morocco.
+Paul Charon I agree magic Morocco.
It is indeed Magic. I travelled a lot there
I wonder why the director chose not to use any music in the sound track by Paul Bowles, author of the Sheltering Sky.
Masterpiece, similarly as Bertolucci's movie.
