Hello , I found this incredibly moving when I heard it for the first time last year , it really is a stunning composition , the running bass note is the only one of it's kind that I am aware of , it's a master class in modern orchestral music. Truly buetifull . Stephen.
He really Is the best. He knew how to honoured all the various human emotions in his music: from love to sorrow, from heroism to desperation, from courage to fright.
@@LinusWelt let's say that he and John Williams are the best from his era, but also the best composers. Yes Hans zimmer is superb and Thomas newman is splendid, but still have much 2 give.

@@dpc983 To me what I find so fascinating about any art form is how a painting or piece of music can be so moving to one but leave another feeling nothing. John Barry is another favorite of mine . Hans Zimmer doesn't do anything for me personally. But above all, Ennio Morricone's film scores for me are so full of passion and emotion. His piece, " On Earth As It Is In Heaven" is like a spiritual awakening every time I hear it. That is my two cents worth. I enjoy reading different opinions and finding out what others hear. How blessed are our artists to be able to create and move us in so many different ways.🙂
My brother asked the same....and we did....he wanted nothing else, no speeches, no songs, no prayers...just this piece of beautiful music.....and that’s how it was...it was beautiful....
My father was a dead ringer for Robert De Niro, especially as he aged. I found this movie on VHS as a young boy and thought it was my father in it. I watched parts of it here and there in furtive viewings over the years (it was on two tapes and my parents tried to keep it out of reach). I never saw the whole thing until much later. Looking back I think of Noodles stealing glances at Deborah. My father died over fifteen years ago. He and I never spoke about this film. How I would love to do that.
The music of lost opportunities and squandered possibilities. Then at the end of your life you're left with only what could have been. Everyone has a Deborah.
I think it's a blessing to live in the generation when technology is at our fingertips to play songs easily. We should also not forget the good music, films and masterpieces made by our greats. They will live forever in people's hearts.
Listen to me! I am a proud Englishman but I have to hand it to you Italians....I love your people, your country, your food , your fashion,Your sporting expertise, your warmth, your culture, and most of all your passion! Suffice to say Ennio sums up ITALY in a nutshell. Forget about his music relating to movies. His music in its own right would stand up to any of the great composers in world history! I would have to say he is the greatest composer of our generation. I have been watching a TV documentary here in England about this incredible man...What an education for me! This is probably my most favourite piece of music from Ennio?I know that is a difficult decision to come to as Ennio has composed and produced the most amazing portfolio of music compositions over the years! I hope you Italians understand this analogy but it is like saying ''how long is a piece of rope?''' But let's cut to the chase....Ennio's talent comes along once in a generation! not only a special talent but a special man! RIP ENNIO XXX
Yes,the music by Ennio Morricone isso beautiful and helps me to watch the movie without judgement and feel incredible pain of human beings, not just the innocent boys and girls born in the Jewish ghettos of NYC and pulled into the life of a gangster and thug. This is the last movie from the director Sergio Leone who had an untimely death at the age of 60 right after making this one. All his movies , including Western like the clint Eastwood's Dollar trilogy and Once Upon a time in the West, the music in this movie hits me the most...
Everytime the world turns its back on me, everytime people treat me like shit, everytime I get ridiculed, rejected and isolated, I come back to this. Telling myself someone from the same species made this piece of music. Man can't be that bad. There still must be some hope for humanity. Thank you Signor Morricone. Thank you so much.
I've had similar experiences to you, not all humankind is bad, develop a sense of humour and cut toxic people out if your life, animals and nature are innocent.
He wrote his last words in which he asks for a private funeral; the reason was literally : "I don't want to bother" I Imagine that, despite his Genius, he was so humble he considered himself one of the lasts. Wish many more people will be like this. Ciao Ennio
I love this film. I feel like I've seen it a hundred times. Perfectly directed by the master Sergio Leone, outstanding film music by godfather Ennio Morricone. Robert de Niro, James Woods, Jennifer Connely, Elisabeth Mc Govern, great cinema
This man deserved an oscar for every soundtrack he wrote...i personally think that The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) is composed by several fucking deaf..
Some nitwit from the U.S. distributor reportedly failed to file the proper paperwork, so that Ennio Morricone's score, regarded as one of his best, could be put up for nomination for an Academy Award.
Johan Lebbing Peter O'Toole, Richard Burton, Gary Oldman. Morgan Freeman has been Nominated as best actor on Three occasions and never won (He does have a best supporting award). Denzel Washington won best actor for training day along with Halle Berry that was just plain condescending. While some amazing people have been awarded for their work other greats have been ignored.
bighands69 ok..you're right..we could add other thousand names...but here we are talking about a genius, about the NUMBER ONE with all respect for the great great names you ve mentioned...first class actors for sure...
giobabi Morricone is like Peter O'Toole never winning an Oscar. It is just insane to think neither of them have won an Oscar. Morricone is one of the greatest modern composers. And his work can easily sit along side the likes of Samuel Barbers Adagio for Strings.
bighands69 Morricone has been nominated for 5 Oscars. In 2007 he won an oscar for his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music. Another 56 wins & 41 nominations. But for me, he should have won oscars for many of the movies hè composed like this movie, and once upon a time in the west, The Untouchables, The Mission, Cinema Paradiso, and many more. It`s very unusual he only got one oscar, and not for a movie. Besides, he is a foreigner, and the oscar-committee ( A bunch of very old real american men.), is more fund of american composers, but....that`s the opinion of more soundtracklovers.
In his music you can ear his life, the life of Rome, of its streets, the squares, the smell of pasta, the italian sea and the italian soul.. proud to be italian as you have been. Goodbye Ennio 🇮🇹
Whenever I listen to this music, my heart is filled with emotion & moves me toward tears. I think I should have it played at my funeral. I am grateful to Morricone for composing this really heart-touching music. From Seoul, South Korea.
If you combine this masterpiece of a song with an important loss such as a separation or bereavement, well then it becomes heartbreakingly beautiful....love as if it were your last day.......
first saw the film in '85 or '86 and was amazed. had (and have) never seen anything like it. had to watch it twice to understand the story line fully as i was/am pretty dumb. decades later i still hold that it's the best film i've seen in my life, by far. i NEVER watch a film more than once... but this one; 15 years later when poverty finally lifted sufficiently, i bought the dvd, and i've watched it four/five times now. beautiful in so many ways and that beauty is only enhanced, even created in parts, by the wonderful soundtrack.
I fell in love again with my wife, she was dressed in her wedding dress and veil, I looked at her she was beautiful again just as I saw her 31 years ago. my heart leaped for joy , but she lay in her coffin , and my heart broke.
I had the tickets to his concert in Moscow a few years ago, but it was canceled cos of his illness. Since then I’ve never had a chance to see him in concert. And now I never will. Rest In Peace, Maestro 🙏🏻

Simply the great film ever made. It had a beauty that felt like you were not watching a film or movie as it felt you were at the opera or theatre. What they made here was more than a film it was art everything from the acting, music, photography. You have no words for just how great it was. This was a movie not with fancy cgi budgets but made with love and passion to tell great stories.

I can't stop crying. This music is so beautiful.
Hello , I found this incredibly moving when I heard it for the first time last year , it really is a stunning composition , the running bass note is the only one of it's kind that I am aware of , it's a master class in modern orchestral music.
Truly buetifull .
Stephen.
Try listening to it now. RIP

The best composer of all time, rest in peace Ennio
He really Is the best. He knew how to honoured all the various human emotions in his music: from love to sorrow, from heroism to desperation, from courage to fright.
@@LinusWelt let's say that he and John Williams are the best from his era, but also the best composers. Yes Hans zimmer is superb and Thomas newman is splendid, but still have much 2 give.

Hans Zimmer ??
Mr.John Barry....??
Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone made a masterpiece in the story of cinema. Thank You
My dad asked me to play this at his funeral. That's how beautiful this piece is.
Is your dad alive?
Me too
My brother asked the same....and we did....he wanted nothing else, no speeches, no songs, no prayers...just this piece of beautiful music.....and that’s how it was...it was beautiful....
Roynsam i get that.

Sorry for your loss.
ONE OF THE MOST HAUNTING PIECES OF MUSIC IN CINEMATIC HISTORY....BEAUTIFUL.
This music speaks only to the soul. And only the soul understands.... all without words, nothing to interpret.
Conni Lane My soul understands.
Eric George
the soul does not think or interpret...it merely feels.
Conni Lane And I genuinely feel that music...Lovely.
Fuccccckkkkk Offfffffffeeeee...........
One of the most beautiful films ever.
The music of lost opportunities and squandered possibilities. Then at the end of your life you're left with only what could have been. Everyone has a Deborah.
It seems the story of my life.
So well said
Keyser Soze I was able to see it before I lost it. Now My life is good.
Aye, we sure do!
My first wife was a Deborah, I was just too young and stupid.
This one hits hard.
What a sad day for music and cinema enthusiasts.
Thank you Italy and thank you Ennio Morricone.

I think it's a blessing to live in the generation when technology is at our fingertips to play songs easily. We should also not forget the good music, films and masterpieces made by our greats. They will live forever in people's hearts.
I'm going to play Tony Bennett's version of "Laura" after this. He didn't do the original but he did the best. Imo
Ennio Morricone... Italy can be proud!! I think this melody is his very best.

Thanks for you words, Alan!

Yes
Yes,the music by Ennio Morricone isso beautiful and helps me to watch the movie without judgement and feel incredible pain of human beings, not just the innocent boys and girls born in the Jewish ghettos of NYC and pulled into the life of a gangster and thug. This is the last movie from the director Sergio Leone who had an untimely death at the age of 60 right after making this one. All his movies , including Western like the clint Eastwood's Dollar trilogy and Once Upon a time in the West, the music in this movie hits me the most...
❤
Everytime the world turns its back on me, everytime people treat me like shit, everytime I get ridiculed, rejected and isolated, I come back to this. Telling myself someone from the same species made this piece of music. Man can't be that bad. There still must be some hope for humanity. Thank you Signor Morricone. Thank you so much.

I've had similar experiences to you, not all humankind is bad, develop a sense of humour and cut toxic people out if your life, animals and nature are innocent.
I always hang onto the good always outweighs the bad ,
You have expressed that hope so clearly -- thanks.

He wrote his last words in which he asks for a private funeral; the reason was literally : "I don't want to bother"
I Imagine that, despite his Genius, he was so humble he considered himself one of the lasts. Wish many more people will be like this.
Ciao Ennio
Seems legit. Honestly, with all the press that he received over his career, he deserves at least this privacy. Ciao Ennio.
You don't see it around anymore anywhere, least here where he worked played and lived.I am so beat...sowy.
I love this film. I feel like I've seen it a hundred times. Perfectly directed by the master Sergio Leone, outstanding film music by godfather Ennio Morricone. Robert de Niro, James Woods, Jennifer Connely, Elisabeth Mc Govern, great cinema
If a movie could have a soul, it would be its music, and Ennio Morricone is a master of creating a soul for each of the movies.
Jennifer Connelly was so adorable in this, then again she is always adorable.
I agree...thanks
This man deserved an oscar for every soundtrack he wrote...i personally think that The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) is composed by several fucking deaf..
Some nitwit from the U.S. distributor reportedly failed to file the proper paperwork, so that Ennio Morricone's score, regarded as one of his best, could be put up for nomination for an Academy Award.
Johan Lebbing
Peter O'Toole, Richard Burton, Gary Oldman.
Morgan Freeman has been Nominated as best actor on Three occasions and never won (He does have a best supporting award).
Denzel Washington won best actor for training day along with Halle Berry that was just plain condescending.
While some amazing people have been awarded for their work other greats have been ignored.
bighands69 ok..you're right..we could add other thousand names...but here we are talking about a genius, about the NUMBER ONE with all respect for the great great names you ve mentioned...first class actors for sure...
giobabi
Morricone is like Peter O'Toole never winning an Oscar.
Best song ever made by the great master
La musica di Ennio Morricone
è qualcosa ché arriva dritta all'anima ,una lingua universale senza confini!!!
In his music you can ear his life, the life of Rome, of its streets, the squares, the smell of pasta, the italian sea and the italian soul.. proud to be italian as you have been. Goodbye Ennio 🇮🇹

RIP Morricone...
If you combine this masterpiece of a song with an important loss such as a separation or bereavement, well then it becomes heartbreakingly beautiful....love as if it were your last day.......
We lost a great one today. Rest in peace, Maestro. He will always be a giant. No one comes close.
first saw the film in '85 or '86 and was amazed. had (and have) never seen anything like it. had to watch it twice to understand the story line fully as i was/am pretty dumb. decades later i still hold that it's the best film i've seen in my life, by far.
i NEVER watch a film more than once... but this one; 15 years later when poverty finally lifted sufficiently, i bought the dvd, and i've watched it four/five times now. beautiful in so many ways and that beauty is only enhanced, even created in parts, by the wonderful soundtrack.
Dear God. Tears are in my eyes right now. My God. I see Heaven.
I fell in love again with my wife, she was dressed in her wedding dress and veil, I looked at her she was beautiful again just as I saw her 31 years ago. my heart leaped for joy , but she lay in her coffin , and my heart broke.
The most underrated movie of last century.
Everything Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone collaborated on were Master Pieces. They are together Timeless as were their Films they made together.

Poesia immensa. Brividi. Grazie Maestro!!!!
