  • After the brakes are installed it is time to flush/bleed them. I have a new vacuum bleeder tool that I use for the first time. The video includes a demonstration in bleeding brakes with it and a review.

    The clean fluid bottle will keep the reservoir full if you leave it open. It will fill up to the nozzle then the fluid pressure will stop it until more fluid is removed, so it auto fills.

      Exactly, as soon as he said that it doesn’t flow with the nozzle submerged so it kind of useless, I said he’s doing it wrong

    I had to watch your video to understand how to use a tool I've had since 2008 I've never used it to bleed my brakes before. I was smart enough to purchase it but not use it correctly.
    Thanks for setting me on the right track.

    I love these new bleeding devices. I have a "SnapOn" one like the one you showed (work purchased it, not me). I would like the pressure bleeder that you pump up on top of the master cylinder, these seem as good/better. Nice job, I love the content. I was a big time DSM guy about 20 years ago. Luckily, I still have my 1992 Talon AWD and will get back to driving it. Keep it up!

    You should have used the suction hose to empty the brake fluid reservoir before adding new fluid.

    So got an update the tool is a must have.. I ended up pre and post foot pumping my brakes in-between using the machine. Also replaced the brake calipers pads and brake lines.. also ON THE ROAD YOUR FOOT WILL PUSH THE PEDAL TO STOP.. so doing this just pumping it and then walking over to the machine.. was a great vacuum for my pt cruiser with split ceramic pads. Drilled slotted rotors built transmission shift kits and a limited slip differential. Please use a pan for brake fluid also..if your pads wear out uneven get a new caliper off Amazon or your trusted parts store

    that hose end deal is worthless....just use the hose...also... pull the bleeder out first wrap it with plumbers silicone tape , then re-insert it... until it stops, re-open it.... the vacuum won't pull air around the threads anymore

    Just cut the sleeve down on the fill reservoir to just a little under where the clamp sits and re slit it like it was factory. It is designed to not flow once it's at the bottom of the bronze sleeve, otherwise it would just overflow all over the ground. Also, I just purchased mine(same model) and I'm wondering, yours still in working order?

    • @SlippingTime
      @SlippingTime  Год назад +2

    • @SlippingTime

      No need to have the car running. The idea of the unit is not to have to pump the brakes to bleed them.

    The bottle that goes on top of brake reservoir. Doesn't that bring air in if it not close?

    • @SlippingTime
      @SlippingTime  2 года назад +1

      The brake reservoir is open to atmosphere and if there is any air in the bottle it rises to the top when the bottle empties into the reservoir. Remember it’s a reservoir that holds the fluid for the brake system. The bottle is filling the reservoir just like you do when you had brake fluid to it.

      You can bleed your disc brake system with the cover off of your master cylinder: as long as you keep the fluid level between the Min mark and the Max mark. The master cylinder fluid refill container shown in this video -- the one with the gold adapter on it -- is not adjustable for height, so the nipple that the brake fluid flows through is submerged, generally speaking, when clamped to the master cylinder neck, which makes refilling the master cylinder physically impossible. The only time that the fluid refill container shown in this video will work is when the fluid level in the master cylinder is very low, which increases to risk of allowing additional air into the brake system. I quite agree with the author of this video that this is a design flaw that deserves the lower rating he gave it. By the way, I have used clamp-on brake fluid refill systems that are a two-part design. The first part clamps to the neck of the master cylinder, while the second part, which is screwed onto the top of the fluid refill bottle, allows one to slide the nipple up and down. In fact, the nipple I'm describing is shorter than the one shown in this video, so the point is that it's never submerged in the master cylinder reservoir, which makes it much more effective than the one shown in this video. This is part of the Holt 57057 "Pneumatic Brake Bleeder With Auto Refill Kit" ... and, No, I am not affiliated with Holt Industries in any way. I'm just a guy who's done more brake work than I care to admit to.
