Today we took the bullet train from Chengdu to Leshan to visit the Leshan Giant Buddha.
Our experience wasn't the best, and then we had a very long journey home by bus!

@@RobandJenny Well, the best choice to feel authentic Leshan food is to go to a place named 张公桥好吃街. If you are not in Leshan now, you can find 甜皮鸭（duck with sweet skin）, 跷脚牛肉(a kind of beef) , they are also easily found. However, Leshan is worth going only for it's various foods！！！

白天集中在老公园，晚上集中在张公桥。零散的到处都是。

In ancient times, because the water flow was very fast and the area was dangerous to ships, it took Chinese 90 years， a thousand years ago ，to build this great Buddha，blessing for passengers . As a result of the construction of the Buddha, the water flow slowed down and accidents did decrease. Is it interesting that superstition unexpectedly meets science?
Yeah! I thought that was so interesting as well. We chatted about that at some point in the video. 😀
My explaination to this is because the budda is built, the ships have a reference point and are able to indentify their location.
I.e. the same as the uses of light house.

I have been to leshan last December, leshan’s food is very good too.
I joined tour to visit this place in September 2006. The tour used medium size boat and ride us to the middle of the river to view the giant buddha. Great view to see it by distance.

@@RobandJenny Actually you guys should sample some local snacks! they are amazingly delicious. And there is the famous Mountain Emei, 40 minutes away from city by coach. it's also a must. By the end of this August, I will go back to China from UK. Maybe we can travel together if possible.

Travel to Thailand is always the best choice
If you are in Chengdu you should go visit CASA Chengdu - the brunch is AMAZING!

im highly recommend to climb the Emei mount,its just amazing.about 3000m+height,this evening Iam coming from chongqing,Have you guys been to chongqing yet？the night view here is the top1 for me in China

My hubby and I are going to Leshan this September. Do you think a boat ride is better than waiting 1 hour to go down? Thanks!
I don't even know if they do boat rides but yes I would say so if they do! Make sure as well to get the first train of the day because then you might arrive before all the tours (we got the second one of the day). Hopefully that will help!
We were at Leshan in June. The view from the waters is amazing. Boat ride is a must. And if you have to choose between 1 hour of waiting and the boat ride, I will choose the latter. Having said that, if you spend the time to go all the way to Leshan, you should do both (unless of course, you need to be somewhere else). We did both and it was the worth the queuing and jostling to get the best picture and also to stand in awe at the foot of the buddha and you will realise the enormity of it. From the waters, it is a whole new perspective.
Up till now (since my trip in June), I am still watching videos of Leshan Giant Buddha - that is how awesome it is. Enjoy your trip... as I did.
