Today we toured Xi'an City Wall and Muslim Quarter. The City Wall is HUGE and, even on a tandem that we hired, we didn't make it around the whole thing. The Muslim Quarter was really interesting, unlike any area we had so far visited in China. We sampled some of the delicious food there, including some tasty mutton, then made our way back to our hotel.

I love that city wall. Riding the bike there, feels like being a patrolling general on a horse in the old times.
Yes!!
Their culture having lot of varieties. Never saw a Two seater bicycle. Simply amazing
haha! Tandems are so much fun! But one person ends up doing most of the work!! 😂😀😂
The city wall was partially rebuilt, but the majority of the wall itself was built in Ming Dynasty, 14-17 century. Part of the wall was built upon the royal palace wall of Tang Dynasty. Imagine that current city wall only was the palace wall, how big Chang'an was back that time.
Love u guys. Really impressive video. And of course have a nice trip!
Such a great vlog! Biking is such an awesome way to see a city!
I found both of you are getting alike more and more, we call this as couple looks.
Haha oh I hope we don't turn into each other 😆
That's exactly what I was thinking!
Riding bicycles the best thing we can do on the cheap. My experience was in Ping Yao, Shanxi province though. Xi’an been there 3 times. Lovely City. Love the food.
We really loved cycling around, such a good mode of transport!
Apart from Jenny's butter fingers with the camera I'd say this is another fine day of exploring...especially the delicious-looking food! :D
Haha thank you! The camera is still alive so all is well 😁
Wow, I have been to the same restaurant for lamb soup when I was on my internship in Xi'an last year
Oh thats cool! we just happened upon it! :)
love u guys have a nice trip!
I like your way of travelling. You plan a little bit, which city to go next, famous cites in the city but you went on casual times. Relaxing and satisfying way really.
my friends,have a good day !
why thank you! 😀
I love this city so much. Love the food and riding the bike on the wall. The night view of Xi'an (especially the walking zone next to the Giant Wild Pagoda) is amazing, I don't know if you have seen. There is so much fun.
Yeah! We went the next day! So nice!
Thanks for watching! 😀
Try to visit Great Tang All Day Mall in the evening! Just in the city center and you will love it :)
You could visit Great Tang All Day Mall in the evening, it is beautiful !
Oh interesting!
@@RobandJenny Yes, you could find it in youtube.
I also recommend YongXingFang, a new place of local traditional foods and snacks, it is also beautiful in the evening, worth visiting.
@@RobandJenny Yeah, I have been there two years ago, it's worth to go.

I really passed a lot. Love to see the new vedio.😁
Lovely! Thanks for watching :)
You tried 羊肉泡馍 crumbled bread in lamb soup? Lovely! There are a lot more specialties to try in Xi'an. Unfortunately, I am not in Xi'an, otherwise I'd have led you guys to 'couchsurf' some restaurants and interesting spots. But anyway, you guys experienced the core elements.
oh that would have been really good fun! Yeah the bread in the lamb soup was really good! :)
We live very close to the city wall! Welcome to Xi'an! Enjoy!
Thanks! Lucky! nice place to live :)
Welcome to my city, Hangzhou, which is one of the most beautiful city in China.
Thank you. Will have to go on the list for our next visit! :)
你好,欢迎我嘛?我也想去
会玩会吃,厉害👍
You shoud climb the huashan mountain, I come there
two mouth ago,that’s interesting
I have been studying in Xi'an for 4 years,I suggest that you go to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda at night,Huashan can also go there, which is known as the most dangerous mountain in China.
I see you took my advice about visiting the city wall.
Definitely!
到了西安,一定要记得去好好吃小吃啊。if you get to xian, you must remember to eat snacks. have a good day。😁
street food
Oh yesss
nice Video, 👍I am living in Sydney , Xi’an is my hometown, welcome to my city.
Thanks!! :)
The Provincial Museum of Shaanxi is a must. One can learn a lot about Chinese history esp. the period prior to 1000 AD.
应该看看晚上的大唐不夜城的,很炫~
I would highly recommend you visit HuaShan (aka Mount Hua).
We have heard so many good things about HuaShan but we are too much of wimps to go there, it looks too scary! :(
Have a great time in China
Thanks! 😃😃
Welcome to 🇨🇳! Have a good trip 😊! Here is a recommendation, you guys could visit ChaoZhou city where is my hometown. It’s a beautiful and historical city in China, and it has the world's first open and close bridge, ancient city wall and ancient archways and so on. Welcome to my city😄
That sounds really fun! Unfortunately we have now left China! but we will have to add this to our list of things when we come back :)
Rob & Jenny It's fine😄cause China is tremendous, anyway look forward to seeing you guys back:)
If you have time in the evening, you can go to Datang sleepless City, Datang Furong Garden or Qujiangchi. The night view is also very good! Citizens from Xi'an
Thanks for the tips! will have to wait for next trip! :)
recommend it too!! Suggest you go there at night, it has amazing light exhibition in the park.
welcome to china ,have a good day
Thank you! you have a good day too!
good you changed those sunglasses ~~ but they are still massive for the size of your head
Watch TV ep : longest day at ChangAn while stays at XiAn would bring you another experience.
Good video.
Thank you for watching! :)
welcome!
Another suggestion, if you are interested in ancient Chinese history, it is recommended that you go to the Shaanxi Museum of History, do not forget, please ask a guide who knows English. Museums are free, but you usually book tickets online a week in advance, and you can spend a little money to visit them. I hope you like Xi'an and China.
Highly recomended:Hua Mountain.
thanks for the tip! Looks a bit scary for us! 🤔
@@RobandJenny But the steps and the view are awesome.I went there several years ago.
@@tttcp5546 Not now. Now it is school holiday. Hua mountain will be very crowded.
Welcome to my hometown
可以考虑去下陕西历史博物馆,免费的free
只是现在来西安太热了
有时间去华山,壶口瀑布
应该建议去华山的,哈哈
在西安的话可以去渭南爬华山,非常棒的体验。
Thanks for the tip! I think we are too much of wimps to climb up there!
@@RobandJenny well accidents are rare. mostly because some idiots wanted to try something stupid or thought they were superman
@@ipfreak yeah we've seen some horrible videos of this. Maybe next time we are in the area we will try. 😃
@@RobandJenny I've been living Xi'an for 7 years. HuaShan mountain is very famous, but I recommend another less famous Mt. called TaiBai Mountain. On the top of Mountain is like winter time while bottom of mountain is summer time, and weather changes every 15 minutes. I will remember it forever.
是啊,華山真的非常棒!一定要去看~
By the way, you'd better climb Hua mountain during the night in case the strong sunlight.'
Good tip for others! We are too scared of the steep hill to do the climb! :)
Xi'an is really an amazing city.
It really is! Lot's on offer! :)
The wall is hundreds of years old. Those traditional looking buildings are new.
There's definitely renovation going on
@@genova4485 墙体没有,只有上面加了装饰。
@@partyhu ohh I see impressive it looks almost brand new

i had climbed up from the bottom to the top once when i was a kid, tried to be daredevil. i lived an area about two or three hours away from xi'an city. that was a million years ago. back them, no well maintained. on the top, a lot of ancient bricks for the wall were stolen (locals called "jian", meaning "picked", not stealing). so large part of the top of the wall were dirt ground.
China is too big and there are many interesting places worth visiting. I will give you some suggestions: If you want to see history, go to Xi'an, Beijing, and Henan for traditional civilization. If you want to see the construction of modern civilization, go to Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou. If you want to see the natural scenery, go to Huangshan, Zhangjiajie, Huashan, Jiangxi, Yunnan. If you want to experience the plateau ban, go to Xinjiang, Qinghai, and Tibet. If you want to eat delicious food, go to Wuhan, Chengdu, and Chongqing. I wish you a pleasant journey!
Thanks for the tips!!
Huashan is very precipitous. If you are afraid of heights, you'd better not go.
haha! we are! a bit... :/
Got here after watching longest day in chang’an...
The Chinese could build these walled structures knowing the exact number of bricks needed before construction even commenced. I watched a documentary on the ancient Western part of the Great Wall and they miscalculated by one brick which they placed on the top of a sentry tower which is still there today
Omg how interesting!
Xian is amazing so much cool history the wall is amazing and huge, for sure see the wild goose pagoda which is a huge area maybe 50,000 people there when i was visiting, the Muslim quarter was more like a Chinese quarter they didn't look Muslim to me walked maybe a mile toward the wall from it and sure enough i came upon a real looking Muslim market not so commercialized but it was huge. Taxi are a nightmare to get at certain locations they don't like to just be waved down its mostly by phone app which you can't get ,again an amazing City and people
which city would you go next?
出来这么久了感觉西安的空气还是不咋好,看起来灰蒙蒙的,哎
Those buildings which appeared in 4:12 were all unfinished mansions.
Ahhh yes. They looked lovely! 😀
If you want to see modern China, you have to go to shenzhen. If you want to see China a thousand years ago, you have to go to Beijing. If you want to see China three thousand years ago, you have to go to xi 'an.
我是中国山东省人。欢迎来到中国,我的朋友。(I'm from shandong province, China China welcomes you, my friend)
If talking about city wall, must compare the Nanjing city wall, they all build or rebuild by same empire, Nanjing was the capital of China at that time and u can find each stone has a name on it
Wow! That's cool! 😀
这俩老外把回民街最难吃的东西都吃了一遍
can any of you speak mandarin? It seems Jenny can speak a little?
Rob can speak a very little! But Jenny not really :) we try to get by, mainly to be polite!
consider you guys dont have chinese bank account. 90 yuan rent a bike is expensive, there are tons of share bikes behind you , just use chinese App to scan the locker. there are many westen youtubers tell you how to use chinese APP,can save you lots of money
yong ying fang ( 永兴坊 ) is better to find more local food than muslim street.
不要去回民街,没有意思,去高新区创业咖啡街,去大雁塔玩玩
Big Wild Goose Pagoda to come!! :)
本地人表示回民街是真的坑
我也看不懂啊 我为什么要看呢?
业余入门级中国旅游,桂林西安,下一站估计会北京上海了
HE is tall so he should sit in back seat on that bicycle . your views were blocked by him . i think xian was starting point of silk road in china and not end point
Just wonder, what kind of accent do they have? not exact British
haha! everyone says that we sound Australian! But we are both British, through and through :)
我相信你们会爱上中国的……祝你们顺利
Something fun to know: Xi'An also called Xi'Jing(西京)meaning west capital in Chinese; Bei'Jing(北京)meaning north capital; Nan'Jing(南京)meaning south capital; Tokyo, called Dong'Jing(东京), meaning east capital. 京Jing means capital; 西Xi, 北Bei, 南Nan, 东Dong, means west north south east;中国 means Middle Kingdom, 中 means center, 国 means nation. Now you learned some Chinese. Obviously, Tokyo 东京 is in Japan, not in China. Japanese used to copy everything from China.
I walked the wall, no need for bike. Use dem legs wisely.
Haha. That's true! 😀 We didn't even make it the whole way around on a bike! 😂
No sticky tofu? Wtf?
Haha, not brave enough sorryyyy
Any ingredients that are not pre-mixed for you, can be chosen totally by you, meaning you can choose one or two ingredients out of the selection with the amount you desire, or not take them altoghether. Also the chili sauce of Xi’an is awful, because it is salty only, NOT spicy at all.
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching! :)
Why Muslims?!
jenny should do her research before she talk
?
her information given regarding the city wall doesn't bring justice to the 600 year old history that the wall has been through. do your research and appreciate the history otherwise i would have think that she is being passive aggressive. unsubscribed as this video isn't informative to me.
@@chaulam6135 aw sorry you feel that way 😔
We don't always have all the right information, but it doesn't mean we aren't enjoying ourselves. And that's what we came out to do!
Like all tourist in China, nothing special. This is not local life.
I hope Donald Trump is watching your videos to reduce his hatred against China.😁
haha! I hope Donald trump is doing anything to reduce his hatred full stop! 😀
