- Once topping Consumer Reports family sedan Ratings, the Honda Accord faces strong competition. The interior is accommodating and fuel economy is improved, but there are some shortcomings. See how the Honda Accord stacks up against the competition: bit.ly/qmt1Yx
For realist, frugal guys like me, what really counts "people" is reliability. What's the use of all these gadgets in a car if you're always in a mechanic shop. if you've bought enough cars in a life time; eventually you'll realize that fact. ACCORD/CAMRY PERIOD!
setstocksasha why I bought my 13 accord. Just hit 80,000 miles runs like a champ only tires, brake pads etc
setstocksasha my man!!! 👍🏾💪🏾
@@nickelwindow538 now im looking at a 2010 tsx but the 2013 accord has been catching my eye like crazy but it is marked as beware of the clunker by carcomplaints.com so how many miles is yours at and have you had any issues??
I owned a 1987 Accord (bought used), 1994 Accord (bought used), 2001 Accord (bought new), and now I own a 2012 Accord (bought new). One general feature: they never break. I am not counting regular maintenance, and replacing normal wear items (tires, brakes, wiper blades). I traded away the 2001 at 200,000 Kms (125,000 miles) on the original clutch (all were manual transmission). Incredible cars !
although styling haven't changed it still looks very modern. I'm sure it will still look modern 10 years later.
Well, here we are, 10 years later. And yes, it still looks pretty good.
It does
Still looks and feels like a new car IMO
@@alynurani8the 13 and up looks newer and more modern
I disagree with all the negative comments on this review except the road noise. The accord is a family-sporty oriented car so is cabin noisy but its engine and transmission is as fine as you can get for the price.
Absolutely....I too disagree with the negative comments on the accord.
What's wrong with these car reviewers??
current owner!! really good car! good fuel economy and as adequate power.
Don’t know what you mean by not sporty handling, my accord does amazing around corners and handles great.
I just bought a 2011 Honda Accord from Major World for 15g with only 50000 miles on it and still drives like new with no major problems I got a great deal but a bad APR rate cuz of my credit issues, Anyway its a great car and i love it and would so recommend one as long as the miles are low on it and take care of it and in the long run, it will last a long time. My old accord was a 97 with 258000 miles ran great till some asshole smashed into me at 50 MPH est. and took off killing my car but thank god i was fine.
glad our fine
Update on Major World for Major Trash, My car started to fall apart with first of, into 4 months i had a bad oil leak at the Valve cover, Last place of service Major world, they forgot to bolt the bolt heads to Manufacture specs, Loose cover caused bad oil leak that grew worse till i noticed some oil drips traced it to valve cover, How can they not tighten the cover to specs, 2nd, Happened about 2 months ago, at 56000 miles the whole engine cage started to shake and vibrate violently, this time took it to Paragon, all of the engine mounts besides the transmission mounts were loose, last place of service MW or Major garbage, traded it for a 2013 Honda Civic and took my lost for it, only got back $9000 for it and it went towards my down payment for my new civic purchased on Sep 28, 2014 for $14800 with 10 miles on the Odo great price for an outgoing Model!!
Accords are still great cars as long as they dont come from Major Garbage there Great!!!
***** sadly in your caseMajor World sells mostly that have had major issues or accidents, ive looked into but too many accidents on there carfaxes draws a red line for me. Paragon on the other sells good stuff, im looking at them for something soon.
I've had 4 Civics and 1 Acura TSX. Honda/Acura just don't break down. Change the oil every now and again, get your parts from the scrap yard and you're set for life!...loll....I now have a 2010 Accord EX and love it. I'm laughing all the way to the bank....
@KeepingModern I agree. I feel we're too focused on things that don't really make a car better (Bluetooth, styling...) A car is an appliance for transportation, what really matters is having a good engine, transmission and stuff like that and Honda is one of the best engineering companies ever. Sure, Ford, Hyundai, Kia might be posting better mpg, better reviewed styling, etc...doesn't matter if the car is problematical!
i rented one.. drove it .. and absolutely fell in love with it
And you NEVER returned it to the car rental place. = P
2011 3.5, V6 owner. Absolutely love it. With some HID aftermarket headlights and K&N intake, she looks great & sounds even better.
I'm currently looking to buy a 2012 in my hometown. I've done as much research as I can about the model year. I too am opting for the v6 3.5 as I have heard the 4cyl have issues gulping oil. I'm not worried about souping the car up but I did want to ask you how bright and effective your stock headlight/foglight set-up? I know it's not like BMW zenon and all. The Ex-l I am looking at has factory fogs and they really don't look like they put out to much light. Any info would be helpful thanks.
The Honda Accord is way better than a Ford,Hyundai,Mazda, Volkswagen
Don’t know what you mean about the Accords handling. My sister has one of these, it handles amazing and goes around twists and turns very well.
I love my 2011 Accord sedan. It's a White Diamond Pearl EX-L V6 with navigation. The reviewer says it's loud, yeah it's not whisper quiet but definitely nowhere near loud. The handling is good and the brakes feel strong. Mine has almost 90k miles and no mechanical problems. I'm 23 and it's an outstanding car for me. The 2013 and newer models are even better though.

What type of tires do you have
I so much love Honda Accord. I owned a 2005 Accord. I think i will upgrade to 2010-2012 Accord with 4cylinder engine
I doubt if this lady is driving a Honda Accord.. sloppy? Uninspiring? Give me a break..the Honda Accords interior quality is much better than the Toyota or Hyundai..
The Toyota and Honda are the best family sedans in the world.
In Nigeria we enjoy these cars due to their reliability..the Hyundai, ford, Chevrolet are whack.cant stand the rough terrains and hot weather
Our 09 Accord handles really well... i still like it as much as day one!
I've never had an issue with road noise with my 2010 Accord. Maybe it's the tires ? I have Yokohama tires and before that ,Sumitomo
I have a 2011 accord coupe lx-s. Freakin love it. Wish i had the 3.5 l manual but i am ok with the 2.4 first honda I've owned and will NEVER buy a hyundai or kia nothing but issues. Korean junk! My last car was a suzuki sx4 hatchback. Liked it but had some issues and wasn't built as well. Wish i also had the sedan for my fiance and i once we have kids but the car always gets compliments and in my opinion i haven't had any complaints with road noise! Hell of a lot quieter than the suzuki or anything else I've been in
Just brought one yesterday, hope there good, it ffeels nice
It is recommended by Consumer Reports!
i hope i don't come off as insulting but this was a very good review video
If you can get a chance to buy a 2008-2010 honda accord in GCC specs in I4 or V4 the best one is Exl trim level it has more grip But on the other hand The V6 has a few problems that last long but I4 is much better
While I prefer the look of the '11 over the '08-10, the new front end doesn't flow as seamlessly as the old one. In fact, where the bumper meets the hood, the fitment is somewhat jarring. The result is a less refined look from certain angles. The EX model is much more attractive overall. It's startling how much a set of wheels can affect the aesthetics of a vehicle. The little 16's on the LX models make the car look chunky, in my opinion. A car this size should wear no less than 17's.
The competitors may look good on paper for having another gear, but the question remains... How good is is that transmission?
The 5 speed in the Accord is greatly refined.
Is it getting old?
Of course, the 9th gen Accord will be equipped with a 6 speed on the V6 and on the manual 4 cyl. (You will see a CVT in the 4cyl automatic)
Let's just hope Honda keeps that refinement onto the next gen.
Putting automatics aside, Honda 5 speed manuals are smooth and slick. A lot better than the competition.
Bad seats don't buy that is why I have an 1998 Toyota Camry love the car reliable seats are the best she has the cloth that is why it is better try the leather others say the leather is way too hard
Honda favors Michellin tires for OEM, slap some Pirelli's on and its a whole different car, much better grip
Softer tires(Pirelli, Yokahama, etc;) wear faster but ride much smoother.
they would be the ones to test the ugliest model of the Accord. if you want a good performance and great technology in the interior get an EX-L V6 model!!! Kia Optima?? wtf
@bigjoesims Couldn't you tell the car had a single exhaust, non chrome doo handles and a model that a V6 is unavailable??
give the car a break, it's been out 5 years now. let it get a redesign and re-engineering and then see how good or bad it is.
enjoy all your break downs and your defects
it doesnt make sense, in 2008 they said the grip was great and so does handling. now sucks?
and yes i wish they update the interior a bit, specially the old nav system.
I'm curious why CU didn't mention your defining difference compared to ANY other evaluation as a reviewer: the comprehensive and unassailable Frequency of Repair stats/data and their mention when comparing the Accords competition?
It's a serious lapse, even in this thumbnail update review, and like giving a description of someone without mentioning gender.
I'd also like to see Honda update a few things. Honda's styling is starting to get stale, in addition, to be more fuel efficient and performance, they should put a 6-speed auto instead of the current 5-speed auto. Honda's got one, but it's on the Odyssey minivan.
Great review..
The exhaust note in these cars is LOUD for stock.
Honda has to get a design department, and deal with Noise. The compitition is here, not coming. Hyundai, Toyota, Kia, Malibu, Fusion.
Wich one is more reliable 2011 or 2012?
12
2011
Hello Consumer Reports,
Can I have the car after you're done reviewing it?
Thanks!
-Derrick
no spilt folding rear seat? its 2011
who needs it?
It's also a Copy of the Genesis at the Rear...
quick question: you guys didint mention that on the 2008 Accord, about the plastic panel, and road noise. i think the accord needs to make their vehicles more stylish. also i wish they reduce the trim configurations. there are like 10 or prob more models to choose from. why? also, why not putting the new nav system other systems like the Odyssey and pilot have. the price is too high as well.
i wish they fix all that in the new redesign
@2:25 hard plastics even in a Honda Accord? Don't the Camrys and Altimas use soft-textured plastics? I know a lot of vehicles use that now (even some Lexus models), not just the so-called cheaper brands but if I want hard plastic interior, why not get a Kia or Hyundai where at least I'm getting more for my money and a long powertrain warranty?
Honda has it's reliability going for it but not much else. Body styling has gotten 'a little' bolder but not as bold as Hyundai and Kia.
The Honda will still be running long after the others have stopped in their tracks. Obviously.
The back trunk area is ugly and red stripping made is 1000x worst look. But I know the car drives well.
i thought this car would grow on me...ive always thought of it as ugly, and it looks like they made it worse...at least the reliability is great and its spacious..
Who got this woman to do this video💀
damn it this car doesnt fly or do my laundry? ima have to go with a kia or hyundai now!
roley33 😂🔥🔥🔥
anyone who bought this must have felt stupid after the 2013 came out
Why? I doubt any did.
2013 had a CVT and a worse engine so just the opposite is true
@Toni7859 Couldn't wait to ged rid of my 08 EX V6. Love my 12 camry!! Blows the accord off the road.
They should have bought an EX sedan. The LX models suck.
@neptoon08 or Hyundai Sonata
@neptoon08 me too :)
new 9th gen will be even more better =)
STOCKBURGERRRRRRR
I always liked the Accord, but the 8th generation sedan (2008-2011) is my least favorite because it's too big and ugly. The 8th gen. Accord coupe on the other hand is way more nicer especially in V6 form.
The bigger the better
I like it because it is bigger.
@scaremengaviation All in all, they're very reliable vehicles with quality that is just now being rivaled by the competition, while the Japanese took attention to detail and quality long ago. I prefer the Nissan Maxima myself but for a family sedan It would have to be the Altima or Accord. Toyota is just like GM they want to be the largest auto maker out there and they stopped taking attention to quality ever since they transitioned most of their line up to the US.
Go sleep jare..it is the best family sedan
You're kidding, right?
@xoquixxoqafxo your right
She says it good on fuel but doesn't say numbers ????
in their tests this model got 17 mpg city 37 mpg highway 25 mpg combined
in their tests this model got 17 mpg city 37 mpg highway 25 mpg combined
👍🚗💨
Its alright. I have an 08 4cyl and get an average of 17mpg which is bad for todays standards but it held up well Since it was like around 19 to 20 mpg when it first came out.
You have some serious issues if that is all your getting in the 4cy.@@samlung2724
She bashed every positive thing about the car. So, why would buy this car?
She lacks the automotive know how that real People have.
$25k and there is no lined trunk lid and a million buttons on the dash. Boo
Smart people look for car liability but not space or lined things you talking about
the accord has fell off. js look at the thing @ the beginning of the video.
@xoquixxoqafxo well...i guess i feel lucky to have an EX then!
Ford Fusion def over this.
I would get Optima if it's 2011.
@bluestarkad17 reliability isnt that grea any more, you'll change brake pads more than you change your underwear with this Accord.and most Honda's are have transmission problems
No they don't.
I perfer the 2011 Kia Optima
UGH, your kidding
No traction control, lol
who needs it?
The Accord is awsome. She cant drive.
tinkle tinlkle
honda is falling behind...
LOL who?
It has nothing on my Hyundai Sonata
LOL oh yes it does, Its a Honda.
what an ugly car
Yawn, Optima wins this round.
Never.
Hello 12 years in the future here the 2012 Optima’s reliability is in the toilet while this Accord is one of the best
@@plum4620I was thinking that same thing. I’m much more in favor of long-term reliability and durability over flash.
