This is one of the best-written songs ever. I saw Patti live at the Springfield Fair in Massachusetts and she left the stage at the end of her performance. You nailed it. Regional influence still amounts to a lot. Ms Loveless makes any song she sings her own. More than her style, I sense it is actually more her truth. Her back-up musicians sure can kill it. Thanks for your kickstart comment. 🤟
I know no one will believe this, but that big truck's headlights behind her are mine. I accidentally stumbled into the making of this video late one very lonely night coming off of Tehachapi into Mojave on Hwy 58 (Where it actually was - As anyone who has ever stopped at or seen that truckstop knows) . Imagine my surprise to find it in a video later on! Anyway, great song, great lady, and GREAT music - Thanks for memories!
This was one of Patty’s big hits in the early 90’s. It did get lots of air play. You are right though about today’s country music. There’s not authentic country left in it. I sure miss real country music.
