She is one of the most under rated country singers of all time! I remember the only time I saw her was on top of my little mountain at a bluegrass festival. I cried! My daughter said "Mom can I do something?" I said "Yes go get me a tee shirt and her cd please"!
There was something SO MAGICAL about 90's Country music & Patty was a big part of that. I remember hearing this song for this first time & it just flew all over me. The musical composition, her haunting honest voice & that bridge.... man it moved me & still does every single time. And that STEEL GUITAR 🙌🙌🙌
I’ll never forget the first time I heard this song. My alarm went off to get up for work in August ‘96. and this song was playing. I laid there and listened to the whole thing and fell in love with it immediately.The song just came out on country radio. I already loved Patti Loveless and I was so happy when I realized I already had the trouble with the truth CD. I listen to that song probably 100 times the entire hot Summer Day and night. 26 years later, it’s still one of my all-time favorite songs! Just a pure country classic.
What I wouldn't give if country music still sounded like this! Most of today's singers regardless of whether they're male or female can't even come up to the bottom of Patty's shoes! She has a voice that angels could be forgiven for being jealous of and she's an incredibly beautiful lady as well.

This song got me thru some rough times when I was first divorced, and actually felt guilty for being with someone new, even though I had been cheated on, and left. It took my brain awhile to not feel bad for living again, and this song helped that process.

Love this song. When we go out to sing karaoke, my wife of 48 years sings this so beautifully. I joke with her because when we were young teenagers, she didn't really like country music. Now she gets great compliments for her singing. What a joy. Try to enjoy the time you have, you never know when the Good Lord may call you home or someone close to you. I've seen friends lose their spouses way too early and it really hurts to see them hurt so.
