That first camp was so nice I'd have stayed a while, especially with possible snow ahead. Leadville is cute. Keep your electrolytes up in that elevation. I've watched so many changes on our public land over 30 years. Hard not to stop for Utah's beauty.

You amaze me Dave! We were just at about 6000’ and dry - afternoon sinus headaches for me. I had no idea Leadville was that high. A friend owns “Squirrel’s Nut Butter” - anti-chafe for the long distance runners, so is at a lot of those events.

There is another closure just west of Gunnison. They found cracks in a bridge over Blue Mesa Reservoir so besides the Canyon project that would require another detour prior to the project area.

We worked in Estes park at 7300’ feet and never did get used to it. Nothing like waking up every morning feeling like you have a plastic bag over your head 🤣

August is the best month to travel Colorado. We've done that 3 times twice to the top of Pikes Peak through the Eisenhower tunnels several times and the million dollar highway. Such courageous country have been all through every road in the Colorado Rockies.

Love the time lapse sunset/sunrise!! What do you use for video editing if you don't mind me asking? Glad you weren't too sick...elevation can really mess you up! Carey on...xoxo Cella & Sugar

Hi!! I used my GoPro Hero 11 to capture all the footage, and Adobe Premiere Pro to edit. 😀

Sounds like you guys are getting close to Montana?! I love traveling through Colorado's mountains. Such beautiful scenery. But then, Montana has some beautiful mountain drives as well. Maybe see you here in Bozeman?! Be safe out there. Carey On!

Not this trip. We are making quick tracks to Portland/Vancouver. Family needs us there for a bit. Unexpected but important.

You guys are in my neck of the woods. I am just over the Sangre De Cristo's in Westcliffe in the Wet Mountain Valley. Looks like you are in the San Luis Valley and the BLM that takes you over to Bonanza. Enjoy!!

It’s a shame the free spots become paid but hopefully they eventually lower the prices to park in gravel with no real amenities. Doubt it 😂
We’re going FT in 2 years when I retire so I hope something free is left 😢. I don’t mind paying a bit if it keeps the place clean and the riff raff out. Just would like it to be around 10 bucks a night or so. I do like to see a Ranger presence to keep it enforced. I prefer off grid boondocking myself. I’m working overtime 😂 to upgrade my rig to be very capable. Stay safe ✌🏼

Wow freaking awesome out there! I like when Dave gets on those dirt roads! Now that’s roughing it! Then running at 9000 feet! No pain no gain!
    Thanks again for sharing!
