    I support preservation.
    We had an old unmaintained road that ran through our land and others land that we allowed jerpers to travel and see the landscape. They always respected the land. This tribe of side by sides started showing up, they cut trees, burried their trash, left smoldering campfires, stacked rocks, desecrated Anasazi sites, traveled off the trail, so we built pipe gates and nobody is allowed there anymore. Jeepers were very respectful, side by side tribes tear up the land and just have no respect.

    • @SegoMan
      @SegoMan 15 дней назад +2

      SxS here I always stay on the trail, carry a claw (no harness fuss) and bring out the trash! Most trash I found is from the sprocket head crowd..

    As an old Eagle Scout we always picked up our trash and left no trace. I love to go off road and adventure, we are all responsible for the care of these areas. We need to stop condoning and ignoring those few who do most of the damage. Some RUclipsrs who like the chaos of wrecking their rigs and causing damage to trails along with going off trail giving those who want to close the areas reasons to do so. Most do not, like you and your channel. They try to be good examples for others who may visit. The future of these open areas is up to us...

    • @SegoMan
      @SegoMan 15 дней назад

      None of the trail closure videos show any trash or the other reasons the B L M states the closure is about. This is all a land grab for agenda 2030 & 2050..

    Look, I love a good off-road outing as much as anyone. Spent much of my childhood in Jeeps, and UTVs. When these concerns started to get so heated in Moab and elsewhere in UT, I always thought "what is the big deal? Moab is a OHV town. People need to relax, they should have lived somewhere else if they have a problem." My mind has since completely changed.
    This is hardly a bummer for anyone. Rather, the result of so much ignorance and abuse. What the OHV folk needed to do long ago was be better stewards of the land we are so privileged to have access to. The type of people responsible for the damages causing these preservative measures to come into play have no foot to stand on. They have nothing respectable to offer anyone. They would never be organized, nor are they the type to acknowledge a problem they are causing. They use, abuse, and leave a mess of everything in this beautiful land, yet cry when people get tired of it.
    Good on the the organizations in charge of the region for stepping in and calling enough, enough.
    To those outside of the off-roading world, it looks as if the "many" are ruining it for the "few". The few being those off-roaders who have any regard for preservation of the land, or those groups of riders who are organized and willing to adapt and learn. Those few good users are taking up the slack for an endless group of absolute headasses who show up, wreak havoc, leave a mess, then go home.
    The many are the perfect storm of arrogant, ignorant, bros. Those who only care about the immediate thrill of ripping their machines all day long and spending their nights tossing beer cans and trash all over the local campgrounds and trails. Those who only see southern Utah as a racetrack for the extremely powerful and capable machines that continue to advance, while the land takes a beating of epic proportions. These are not the type of people who could organize anything more than a rally or a race for themselves, much less a movement to adapt and protect the playground that is rightfully being taken away from them.
    As I grow to a point of wanting to enjoy nature in the least impactful ways, I am absolutely sick of the UTV, MOTO, Sur Ron/E-Bike, and ATV folk who just shred everything in southern Utah until it is a complete rutted, trashed, oil-stained, littered, dusted, washed out, ultra-loud mess for the casual observers, travelers, locals, hikers, bikers, respectful jeepers, and careful OHV users.
    This goes so far beyond Utah. I am all in for preservation, including restricting access to areas that have proven to be nothing but a disaster when open to general OHV users. This will be the way until something changes. I don't think anyone should be entitled to what is essentially a right to destroy these lands, with such minimal repercussions.

    Great shots, especially of the hill climb! Totally worth your workout while I sit on the couch ;)
    Financially and probably for the cross country drives the older 4runner makes sense, but I'd borrow one again first. I couldn't imagine going from the ZF 8 to that crappy trans in the 4runner again. It's reliable but man does it hunt for gears on the highways. You could do a mini-build like your Tundra with a manual Taco. Although both 3rd gen Taco trans aren't the most reliable either...

    Great video with fantastic views. I love Overlanding and the outdoors, especially state of Utah. However: I hate to say it, but that uphill Trail was being torn apart by all the jeeps and I’m sure if I was there, I would be doing the same thing, and these are some of the reasons that, these trails are being closed. Unfortunately, that is the reality. I always advocate for keeping the trails open and limit visitors with permit system rather than just closing it to everyone.

    Did the Barracks Trail last year, going the opposite way ending at the Belly of the Dragon. So of course we went UP the slick rock and DOWN that steep, sandy climb. There was a bit less water in the river, also. But it was a blast and a ride I won't forget. It also seems more heavily traveled and damaged than I remember. Is that why it may be shut down?

      As much as I enjoy flying my drone, I’m also glad they’re not allowed in many areas like National Parks. They’re loud and annoying. I don’t really fly mine around other people (unless they’re part of the trip) but some people don’t think about it.

    Great clip mate and thanks for sharing.
    We have many tracks here in Australia being shut and locked off too, unfortunately the minor of dickheads wreck it for the majority of bush respecting law abiding citizens.

    I live 20 minutes from there. The sign and drive golf cart crowd has thrashed it so bad I will be surprised if it remains open. No organized group seems to care much. All of the bypasses and all of the litter needs to be dealt with by user groups. If the BLM has to deal with it they will just close it.

    Prudent land management should protect the land. Visited, hiked much of Utah 40+ years ago. Folks had a bit more respect for the land and a leave no trace ethic. Population and motorized vehicles sometime don’t mix with fragile ecosystems .

    I forgot why you got the Jeep in the first place? Why not just keep and use the Tundra? Too big? I have 3 kids. The perfect overland vehicle doesn’t exist! Trucks are too big for small/narrow trails. And SUVs don’t have enough space for kids and supplies. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  27 дней назад

      That’s the problem we’ve found! It was to give more variety in the channel, put less miles on the Tundra, and give use a backup vehicle.

    What is the name of the trailer and how do we contact the BLM to tell them to not close it? I want to go on this trailer and it would be so sad if they closed it.

      The trail is the Barracks Trail. You can find details on the BLM website via Google.

    Get another Jeep and do harder trails! Or get a new 4runner/ Land Cruiser and attempt the rubicon! Or just keep the Jeep you have and do that. Always fun to watch more difficult trails.

    The BLM is really getting a hold of all of this. It makes no sense. These trails are all extremely awesome and They can't just shut it down like that. But well, there's nothing we can do and Moab will soon just be Arches and Canyonlands...

      Utah native here. It's only closed to motors. You can still get there on a bike out your feet. If ding dongs didn't tear up the trails and loot the archaeological sites these restrictions wouldn't have happened. There's way too many people out here who don't respect just how fragile this land is. I want our great grandchildren to see it as we do.

      I miss the old days when people didn’t know UT was a state. The problem now is we are loving UT too much. Back east there is almost no open land so even with closures of some, we are still incredibly lucky. The best way to keep the trails open is to stay on the trail, and avoid driving over untracked areas. The issues that impacted public opinion most in Moab are UT politicians allowing no restrictions on atv mufflers, except in SLC (where they live) and too many people behaving poorly (widening trails, ripping up the terrain, racing there loud atvs through town at all hours).
