My wife ran 9 miles on the flats turned around and ran back thinking it was the same direction ,had to send up the drone to spot her and give her directions back to the truck 😮
😳 Dang!
The salt flats look amazing! Need to put it on the list. You always give me great ideas for our next trip
You should!
If you can I recommend going during Speed Week lots of Fun!!!
@@justlucky13 That would be awesome!
I would definitely drive on the salt flats. I would go for the top land speed record for a Dodge Sprinter Pleasure Way class B RV. A buddy and I drove through the salt flats back in August of 1978. We were in his 1968 hotrod Camero that lacked aircondioning. It was well over 100° outside and easily 120°+ inside the car. ...Over the years as a ranch cowboy, we've had a horse or two just up and die on us for no apparent reason. But we either buried them or one time, took it to the dump after doing an autopsy on it in town. I can only imagine how bad that carcus must have smelled. That goodness you guys didn't have smell-a-vision for this video. Be safe out there! I hope everything is okay with your family out in the Portland area. Cheers and Carey On!
Yeah. It was pretty bad. Glad the wind didn’t change during the night:)
Hey, I spent the night in Fillmore at the KOA last road trip to Ronan. The horse flies were thick as heck.
Awesome travel videos, glad I found your channel. You two are the ideal travel companions. I’m about to retire, can only hope to find a compatible female mate to begin sharing trips and views like these.
Thank you and good luck!!
Iron Horse RV park in Elko, Nevada is very nice! Full hookups and laundry available.
The Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires I had on my last truck were fantastic. They're the perfect balance between on road comfort and off road traction, and they're 3-peak snowflake rated.
Thanks. Haven’t tried those.
I was there a couple weeks ago. It was 40 something degrees. Raining with 20-25 mph winds. Had to wear my heavy winter coat. Got out read the sign and left. Then in Elko it started to sleet. Went to Pizza Hut! lol. Next day went north on crazy awesome beautiful and at times knuckle biting. No gas stations for about 200 miles. But there was an opal mine!
Oh wow!
Think just walking on the saltflats would be my choice. Gross about the horse. I fell in love with northern Nevada last summer. So much public land.
We went with Cooper's Discover AT3 tires for stronger sidewall strength. Best tire through all our sets over 20 yrs of traveling.
Wife likes your new ac. Can't see it as your drove around the jeep.
Good to know!
Wow that was quite a run!! Great work out.
Thanks!
Love the Bonneville Salt Flats been to speed week a few times very cool and Fun
was your first spot with all the ATV's Five Mile Pass?
I don’t think so. 🤔
Hello good people! Very nice start to the video. Good to see the Dodge tackling difficult roads. What type of suspension do you have on the rear axle? Considering removing what I have to put on automatic air suspension.
We have a heavy duty adjustable air suspension. It works well but I’m not convinced there’s something better.
Wow Dave you did do a good job. Just like a pro
Growing up on a farm, these things happen, but it's a circle of life thing we can drive away from until it's our time to join. Loved the 'beating the dead horse joke' It's a typical guy joke about death :)
When I see the salt flat I see a future rusty truck frame eating beast.
At least you know the source of the smell & that it’s not a Forensics Files episode in the making… That is a good thing..
Humble George mentioned you two this morning. That prompted me to come & binge a few COV episodes….
I love it when he mentions you two, which is regularly……
I’d be scared to be out that far into the desert without cell connection. The Better Call Saul & Breaking Bad desert scenes come to mind.
😂😂
Welcome back!
I’d drive for a photo op. 📷 but not keep driving because salt eats everything 😂
That is a serious hill. Walking is working out too.
KOA is never cheap, ever 😂 but yeah sometimes it’s easier to hit it all at one spot.
Good to see neither of you have small cuts on your hands, that dip of salty crystals in liquid would have reminded you right away!
I'm very happy with my Cooper 10 ply rated truck tires on my 4X4
Thanks for confirming my experience!
Dave, I thought you were going to do a 0 to 60 MPH on the salt flats in the truck camper😂😂 but don't forget to wash the chassis to stop it rotting, salt and vehicles don't like each other.
They sure don’t😉
Were you guys west of the Utah Lake or on the eastern shore?
Just bought a 2024 Ram 2500 gasser. Trying to decide if I want to put a camper on it or pull a trailer. I like your setup.
East side this time:)
Horse burger is a damn fine meal
😬 This was a few days late for that. 😉
1) I laughed at beating a…😂
2) I had the Coopers on my van, like you and loved them, too. I went with BFG KO2’s on my F-150 and would absolutely NOT get them again.
They’re more tire than I think I need for forest roads and light to moderate 4WD and they are way more expensive than the Coopers.
You obviously have to decide based on your use, but for me, I think I wasted a bunch of money and will go Cooper in the future.
Thanks Joe! Appreciate the info and confirming my thoughts on coopers. Enjoy your trip!
@@CareyOnVagabondThanks! I have about another month here before going home.
@@travelingwithjoe216 Appears to be an amazing trip!
Thanks again. Seeing the Bonneville Salt Flats makes me think of this movie...

Awesome movie!
What happen to the bike?
Bikes stored for this trip;)
Just double-checking, you got your sunscreen on?
