    I know this is an old video, but I’ve lost count how many times I’ve watched it. It’s one of the few colour swatching videos that’s been invaluable to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 🤗🇬🇧

    I like Mission Gold watercolors 😊
    They are actually a good value (I live in Europe, still very affordable) for a 15 ml tube. But I never seen a Watercolor Chart. Thank you for swatching. 🎨

    Thank you so much for this. I have the pure pigment 24 set plus a few add ons and I have been looking at adding more MG. Thus helps immensely. Thumbs up.

    great vid! i like how you actually painted out the masstone. very helpful!! *question:* trying to figure out the difference between Marine Blue, Peacock Blue, and Greenish Blue. (i know you said greenish blue was like DV's pthalo turquoise, that helps. but i wonder since i just heard of the pthalo blue turquoise if it's like these other 2 at all? or *are the MB and PB really almost the same color?* thanks! :)

    • @peaceandpaintbrushes
      @peaceandpaintbrushes  2 года назад

      Marine blue and peacock blue are their own pigment, PB 16 I think, and pthalo turquoise is a mixture of pthalo green and pthalo blue. Hope that helps :)

    Winsor and Newton still produces a real (PR83) Alizarin Crimson in watercolour form in their professional range. And it is a really gorgeous colour albeit not lightfast.

      Yes, the WN Alizarin Crimson really glows and is lovely, I can see why botanical artists in particular love it. Too bad it's fugitive, but I'm happy with alternatives that are lightfast.

    Hey there, how is life in Korea? Why did you decide to move? I think about you from time to time, I hope you are doing well.
    I love Mission Gold watercolors, I bought the 34 color pure pigment set, it's amazing. A lot of their colors are really amazing, they have the best Quinacridone Magenta, and the Red Brown is the most beautiful brown I have ever seen.

    oh yay!! you're back! life is crazy indeed! can't believe you moved homes/countries during covid! hope you're settling well in south korea :) i'm so glad more people are posting vids of this dot chart swatching. if anyone is interested, i also did a swatching on my channel (i hope you don't mind me mentioning this, the intention isn't to piggy-back on your vid, just putting it out there in case people are interested in a different lighting, hope you understand :)). my dot chart set didn't come with any plastic sheets in between though. and i was amazed at the paper as well, when i touched it i was like "hmm, is this 100% cotton?" and then during the swatching i was like "this is absolutely 100%cotton!" personally i don't like arches but i loved this paper lol. do you know if mijello in korea still sells that cobalt violet PV102? because my local store told me they discontinued it and replaced with W633 ultramarine magenta made with PV15, PR122 series D. i really wished the PV102 was still available :( also... holbein's PB16 is most similar to mijello's greenish blue incase anyone is looking for a phthalo turquoise equivalent.

    • @peaceandpaintbrushes
      @peaceandpaintbrushes  4 года назад

      I don’t know if they are still making the PV102 one but it is still in the art store I went to. I’ll have to snag one before it’s all gone 😱. Yeah the paper is amazing! Did you buy the dot card in the US or somewhere else? I searched for a way to get it in the states but couldn’t find one.

    • @PaintinHiding

      @@peaceandpaintbrushes YES!! YOU MUST GET IT! even if it was available here i might have to reconsider, it's series H, pricey! i'm in thailand and i think what happened was, mijello in korea sent the dotchart to my local shop/distributor and then that's how i got it. i recently saw that it's availabe on greatart.co.uk though.

    • @peaceandpaintbrushes

    Hello, thanks for sharing!💕 I found your video recently, and as soon as I saw the color W627 Cobalt violet brilliant, light, PV102 I looked for it in my local art stores and online art shops, but this seems to be unavailable anywhere (kinda out of production or something...)
    I wonder what happened to that beautiful color, it does not figure on Mijello official website's color chart either :-(
    If you have any update, could you please let me know?
    Thanks in advance ☺️

      Yea apparently they do not make it anymore is what I’ve heard. They have replaced it with another color. They do still sell the left over tubes in Korea but that’s all I know. It makes me sad 😔 it’s a beautiful color.

    Given your location it would probably be cheaper to get a pure pigment set than individual tubes. I live in the UK and ordered mine via ebay from a seller in South Korea, it was around 70USD. I also mixed my own greenish blue as I got all 4 phthalos in the set; 15ml tubes will probably last a lifetime in phthalos lol.
    Now can I justify the 34 pure set as refills 😆?

    • @peaceandpaintbrushes
      @peaceandpaintbrushes  4 года назад +1

      Oh yea I checked the price and the pure pigment set vs buying just the tubes I wanted out of it (only 3 I didn’t) and it was still like $10 cheaper plus those three tubes.
      Haha, we artists can always justify art supplies lol

    • @hlk01
      @hlk01 4 года назад +1

    Seriously awesome that Mission Gold has dot cards. This is fun to see. Is Mission Gold thd only paint brand that no longer has PR83? (original Alizarin Crimson?) All the other brands I use still make it. Its fine for a sketchbook but too fugitive for my commioned works. I like M Graham Permanent Alizarin Crimson best. Thanks for sharing.

    • @peaceandpaintbrushes
      @peaceandpaintbrushes  4 года назад

      So glad you enjoyed it! Im not too sure if mission gold is the only brand that doesnt make it. Maybe because it is relatively new? Ive only ever tried a sample of the real deal and it was beautiful but sadly fugitive so i don't go out of my way to get it. I think QoR doesnt have it either but im not positive on that.

    Just found this video. Thank you for posting!
    Hope you've settled in well to your new home, and that your art supplies have arrived :)
    I'm curious how do you dispose of the paints in an environmentally friendly way?
    I heard Cobalt can be poisonous, do you know if these paints use a hue or do they actually contain Cobalt?

    • @peaceandpaintbrushes
      @peaceandpaintbrushes  2 года назад +1

      Mission gold does use cobalt pigments but the do sell hues as well.
      When I use cobalt colors I usually just waist for the paint to settle to the bottom of the water container and use a tissue to wipe out the pigment after I empty the top water. Other than that I’m honestly not sure. In Korea they have a waste basket for dangerous materials like batteries and stuff. I’m not sure about other countries. I don’t know all of the science behind it honestly but I really do enjoy the colors. Sorry I’m not more help

    Mission Gold are more like INK paints...and they do not flow that great...or do you find that they have "flow",...thanks Janis

    • @peaceandpaintbrushes
      @peaceandpaintbrushes  3 года назад

      Ink paints? What do you mean by that? They don’t burst out with tons of flow like QoR or Daniel Smith but they will still move around if you use the right water ratios. They are good for when you need to control the paint more.
