    I am a pigment hoarder ;) I love my Mission Gold set but have only used it twice. They are truly vibrant and blend so well. As for a gouache palette, any well that is deep or slanted would be good for adding some drops of water to reactivate the gouache. I also like to put my watercolor paint on the up-slope and allow the watered pigment to flow into the deeper part of the well. That way the pigment stays thicker. I hope that makes sense.

      So, the opposite of how I filled my wells? I like that idea, and it makes a lot of sense.

    My initial impression is that they are impressive! The colors are vibrant without being overly so. Pure Pigment name is quite appropriate as they have a very clean look to them. I'm getting that impulse buying urge.............

      Hi, Gina! Thanks for the kind words. I'm excited for you. It sounds like you're already familiar with some of their colors, so I'm sure you'll love the set. Everett is a lovely city, although it's been a long time since I've been there. I'm futher south - in Puyallup. And - after a surprise hail storm a couple of weeks ago - it's finally feeling like spring, here!

    Ooooohhhh a Mijello journal series! I recently got the colors in nature 36 palette. It came with a prussian blue but not the perylene. Remember Irene what's his is mine and what's mine is mine😉. I'm in the process of receiving my thriftbooks haul and it's like 10+ books on watercolor and drawing. It comes from several different locations and I'm following each package closely. Very closely via my cellphone. Remember back when we were kids and we had to order stuff through the mail? Yeah the mail. I would ask my parents everyday did I get anything? They would look at me like no sweetie only I an adult get mail. Now I'm adult following the tracking so closely I sit outside and watch for the white fedex van. More than once I've motioned them over to my hidden driveway to receive my package. Here recently the van was so full he dropped and broke my waterbath canner and the seller will not pay for return shipping which is 2x the price I paid for the product?!?🤨 Anyway follow that USPS tracker history to the yellow brick road. I'll be behind you shortly.

      Sending away for stuff through mail was always a thrilling adventure (or a scary nightmare). But at least these days there's online ordering and tracking, so I guess I shouldn't complain. Good luck with the books. Total bummer about the waterbath canner. 😟 That's another worry - return/replacement policies. Sometimes there's an upside: I once got an extra box of fancy chocolates because the seller sent two by mistake and didn't want to deal with the hassle of a return. 🥳

    I couldn't agree more about small minds not finding amusement in the little things! I feel the same way about sarcasm. They say it's for smaller-minded people, but I find in many cases that it goes right over many people's heads. -Maybe it's just my way of defending my sarcasm and I'm small minded everywhere but in my own head. 😁 I love this series of videos! Color spotlights and color talk and experimenting is my jam! Bonus if it comes with lovely amusing stories and a painting to boot. Better than Christmas! ♥

    Aaaaahhhhh, that palette of colors is SO pretty! I have my 36-set of Mijello paints (regular set, not Pure Pigment), and this makes me WANT! LOL! I have no idea why - I think I just love setting up new palettes and new paints and seeing all the pretty colors. Can't wait to see you working in your Bee sketchbook - I LOVE mine! Hmm... I need to use it more. 😜

    Ahhh, another Mijello Mission Gold fan. I also bought mine on ebay, individually, for about 4-6$/ tube, direct from S Korea. I understand sweating out the delivery. Mine were shipped through Kiev. I was sure they would never make it through customs. I bought all the pure pigments except one or two and I love them. They do have “quirks” if you want to call them that, e.g., they have no oxgall, so dont move very much. But the colors, oh my, the colors. Have fun, I look forward to your journal!

    Hope you enjoy this new set! I have had mine, the old version of 24 pure pigment colors, for 4 years now. Not a fan of the earth tones, but i still prefer some of their colors like ultramarine light, quin. Permanent rose, green gold and perylene maroon over AA brands. They were the first paint to wow me as well, such vibrant colors! They rewet so nicely as well. I have several of them in my permanent palette (a fusion one with 18 wells). Nice to see the new set including more cobalts and more interesting colors. I still think the reds are too many though.

    • @INCWorks
      @INCWorks  3 года назад

      I'm glad to read your thoughts on the paints. I'm also cool with having cobalts since I don't think I had any before. As for all of the reds... I should start painting lots of cherries and tomatoes, yeah? 😛

    I wanted to let you know that the band is to keep the box together. (I think this - because I have a smaller similar box that I have to put a hairband around to keep it together. Perhaps if I had more storage room a band would not seem necessary, but I have the box in a container with all my other watercolor brands of various sizes and the band is life-saving for keeping it in order) Thanks for the swatching and I look forward to a review perhaps in the future. Or at least, seeing you use these paints. recently bought the 7 ml x 24 color mission gold "colors found in nature" set on amazon (it was a lot less expensive than newer sets they have) While it is not the pure pigment that I would love to have, I love honey-based watercolors and this was what I could afford.) I never thought of looking on eBay.

    • @INCWorks
      @INCWorks  3 года назад

      Ah! That makes sense - I wouldn't want it to pop open by accident. I hope you enjoy your new paints. I find all of their colors to be beautiful and their sets are usually good deals, though it sounds like you found an especially good one. 👍 The next video will feature an individual color (swatching, mixing, and a quick painting) from this Pure Pigment set. It will be up in the first week of May.

    I need that many colours! 😂 This looks like a lovely set, and one I'd totally buy......maybe one day I'll get it. Luscious pouring, by the way. 💜 The biggest annoyance though are their messed up names vs pigment numbers. For example, they named Phthalo Blue Green Shade as Cerulean Blue! Cerulean is a totally different pigment! And their Phthalo Blue is the Red Shade version. That would bug me so much, I'd have to rename them to GS and RS on my swatch chart. By the way, PB36 is Cerulean, so now my eye is twitching over many of the blue names. Let's not talk about "Viridian", lmao! 😂😂

    • @INCWorks
      @INCWorks  3 года назад +1

      😂 I don't blame you - for needing the colors OR for being annoyed with their color names. Good idea about making notations. I want LESS confusion, not MORE. 🥴

    I have the set of 24 and I'm using mine more as a landscape palette.
    Their Series H colors are so expensive (Cobalt Violet Light Brilliant for example). I only had issues with the Phthalo Blues. It seems they don't want to dry as all the other colors in my set... and I had PB15:3 or PB15:6 on my hands accidentally.
    Talking about palettes... I thought of getting the 33 well palette, too.

    • @INCWorks
      @INCWorks  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for sharing your info - I hadn't realized the Mijello series went all the way to 'H'. I checked a couple of their 15ml tubes on Blick: Prussian Blue was about $10 (do-able), and Perylene Maroon was about $20 (beyond my budget). I know that plastic palettes discolor over time, but I like the design of this one a lot. And, at less than $13, I think it was a good deal.

      @@INCWorks I have a 24 well Mijello palette for a few years now and it still looks white when the palette is cleaned. But... I'm not sure if they will yellow that much. It looks like it's a more high quality plastic to me. The stains can be removed without a problem, too. I have always these magic erase sponges to keep the palette "white".

      Thanks, Nadeane. I've seen Mission Gold individual tubes on both Amazon and Blick online stores. On Amazon, you can either enter 'Mission Gold watercolor tube' ( www.amazon.com/s?k=mission+gold+watercolor+tube&ref=nb_sb_noss_2 ) into the search box and then scroll through the results, or add a specific color to the search. On Blick, you can see all of their available tubes on a better organized list. ( www.dickblick.com/products/mijello-mission-gold-watercolors/ )

    You know there is a professional artist grade single pigment paint from India for a fraction of the price right? India sells 15ml tubes for about 1usd a peice. You can get a set of 24 15 ml highly light fast single pigment professional artist grade paint from India for about $15.00. Shopping included. I've been painting all my life. I began using daniel smith inks in the 70s. I loved their oil paints and was thrilled when they created a line of watercolors. I have used them since the 90s. Until I traveled to India. I picked up a 24 box set of their tubes there for $3USD. I couldn't tell the difference between their paints and my daniel smith's. I shipped an entire create back to the USA. I challenged every artist in my cities art league to paint with them without telling them what brand they were. Every single artist chose those paints over M Graham, Daniel Smith, Sennelier and Schmincke. Until I told them how much I paid for them. Then suddenly somehow they were all of a sudden not as good lol. Now I but then off Amazon and donate them to every school in my county.
    Why anyone would willingly spend this much for something others have produced for centuries is beyond me. To me its equivalent to buying Gucci for the price it is now even though it used to be sold in Kmart for a fraction of the price just because they saw some actor whose job it is to be a professional liar wear it. Cracks me up. I hope you enjoy your paint, but if you ever want the same or better for less let me know. I'll email the name to you.
