Sometimes when I am having a bad day and things are getting me down I just put on one of your videos. Just seeing your bright smile and cheerful voice lifts me right up! Thanks for being so authentic and open. Sending you love from Queens NYC!
I have the mijello mission silver in tubes, and they are indeed beautiful to paint with. Unfortunately, they are not light fast at all, according to my own window tests. A full third of my 24 colour set faded almost completely after 3 months in a south window. I would imagine that the Gold would be better in this regard (although the Silver box also says "professional" on the box).
These are magnificent paints. It's almost impossible to make mud. The colors are so vibrant that it's almost difficult to go light enough for a wash. I had to get used to them, but I love them. Highly recommended. I agree about the burnt sienna. It's a little off compared to other brands, but it's still a very pretty color. I have the gold set of 24 and bought them in tubes. I can tell they will last me a very long time.
I speculate that they aren't heavily promoting the pans because it was a PR nightmare when they promoted their tube paints about 7-10 years ago. I think this time, they are just letting the word of mouth spread. Their original promotion got a lot of flack in the art world and was mocked due to their flowery language, bad grammar, and misleading information (which they have since fixed). Hope you're enjoying both pan sets!
Hi Lindsey, just wanted to give a big shout out of how much I enjoy your videos. You are so down to earth and like you I enjoy a variety of crafts. Although I work full-time many of your projects are simple, quick, and easy. They have inspired me to make more time for painting, card making and starting a watercolor journal. You've shown me how portable watercolors are, so my lunchtimes have become entertaining too! Have not started yet, but I was able to get your 50% off flower lessons and expect a new set of the Mijello Mission Gold watercolors to arrive tomorrow! Keep up the great work!!
Your reviews are extremely helpful and please continue to share your ideas and opinions. I, for one, am very pleased to have found your channel and enjoy learning from you. Thank you!
loved your first video on mission gold watercolors and thrilled you did these. please do a video on the gelly fish you painted. soo cute! love watching you!!
The primary colors are cyan, magenta and yellow, and I use it mostly for painting background washes because you basically can't get a dark color from them. The cyan and magenta mix to purple, and the magenta and yellow mix to red. I was able to make a couple of limited color palettes using the ridiculous colors the pure pigment set. red-brown, yellow ochre, and phylocyanine blue made a nice grungy bright earth palette imo, and magenta, cobalt turquoise, and permenant yellow light made a good pastel color palette. I generally like colorful stuff but sometiems
Hi Lindsay, Thanks so much for the review. Im in love with watercolor after this review ordered these off of Amazon. The colors look so vibrant, I can't wait to receive them.
Which would you buy if you couldn't afford both- Mission Gold palette with 36 7ml tubes for $57.50, or White Knights 36 pan set for $52.50. You gave a great review for these Mission Golds, but yours were pans, and a good review of the Sonnet pans, which are the student line of the White Knights. Thanks for your opinion. Hope you are enjoying your vacation.
Lindsay, thanks so much for doing these reviews! I got the 36 Tubes of Mission Gold with the palette on Amazon for $67, but now they're $57!! I bought them only 5 months ago, and haven't even used them yet! I need to prepare my palette!! :-) I hope you're having a great vacation! :-)
The lack of flow is symptomatic of a lot of filler present. Whilst both sets are nice enough, the prices are enormous compared to similar (or better) grades of paint from other vendors. The $20 per tube in the Gold series for cheap dyes just seems absurd - but someone is clearly paying full price out there - the most I've ever paid was close to that for a genuine lapis lazuli or something - never for a cheap dye.
I just got my 24 set +2 7ml(they gave me 2 blacks for some reason). I just made up my pans and I'm waiting on them to dry. I'm really excited to try them I've been rather exclusively using Winsor and Newton Professional/cotman and Sakura Koi travel set(I LOOOVE THIS SET) which is the only decent brand they sell at my local Michaels and hobby lobby. I can already see from making my pans how amazing they look. I did notice that I didn't get a plastic tray I got some flimsy tray so that was a disappointment but it doesn't matter too much since I will be using pans. Thank you for you're amazing informative videos, it has helped with all my supply choices.
Your review videos are aimed at all income levels. For instance, your invaluable review on watercolor crayons included the Target (bookstore) set for under $4.00 up to the Caran d'Ache for $20 (10) to $32 (15). For every video of expensive products, there's probably another of a different selection of products if they search your YT channel. And since this is excellent FREE advertising , I would think companies would be glad to provide you with their products for free. I must say I'm somewhat disappointed when product links offer only bulk orders. But I can't imagine the work that goes into these DAILY videos with the extensive written details.
Wow awesome! I love your comparison and review videos! Did not know Mijello made student paints. Cool, I think I agree with you though, I would prefer to buy the Gold.
Hi! Do you think you could do a review of winsor and newton cotman colors and explain their lightfastness and pros and cons? I know you have said others poo-poo them but I was interested in them
The majority of pigments in the artist grade set of 24 here are single pigments. I heard you say they were mostly multi-pigmented. But only a few have more than a single pigment in this set.
I have a question for you. I love the color red and I have the tattered poinsettia die. Its one of my favorites! I find that my red inks lean towards pink or orange. I LOVE my red watercolor crayon and will be replacing that with a Caran D'ache (sp?) when I use it up. What would you reccomend for a quick coverage of a lot of petals in a primary red color? I truly love my red Crayola water color pencil but that gets very time consuming for mass production. Thank you for being a great teacher and fostering this wonderful crafting community!
How does the Mission Gold Pans compare to the Mission Gold tubes (If I buy the tube set with the palette and just squeeze and let dry)? :) Sorry if I somehow missed it if you did say something in the video. >~
I just found the mission gold 36 gold pure pigment with case for 75 on amazon. and that was with delivery to Canada. thanks Lindsay but my bank account doesn't. Lol😉😉😉
Lindsey, love your watercolor videos. Have you ever talked about lightfast ratings and what they mean in any video? If not, that would be very helpful info. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with all of us.
wow- how did i miss this one? i had been seeing these sets pop up on photos and had no idea they were mission sets- I thought they only came in the tube form- knowing now that they come like this too, I totally regret getting the tube set- Oh well- I am super happy with my tubes and that awesome palette that come with the set I bought- mine came with 5ml tubes. Still tho, wow those sets look like candy! lol love them
Jellies!~ I love painting jellyfish. :D Edit: Didn't realise this video was uploaded on my birthday until I checked the deecription at the end, August 13th. Thought that was cool to see. :)
Has anyone does a palette surface comparison between the types of Mijello palettes? Silver, stain-resistant, 'bullet-proof'...A confusing set of choices, if one has no idea what their features might be.I get the 'water-tight' part, but the quality of the missing surface is key
I would not go with water tight for watercolor palette, it needs to breathe or it could mold. The bulletproof is just a shiny plastic palette, I like it but it is expensive on its own (the perfect pan gold set is in a bulletproof one) I think it comes down to preference. I'm not to picky:)
Neither statements really addressed the specific question issue Having graduated from both neuroscience & nursing, I have a pretty clear understanding of what a contaminated, rotten pan would be ('I know what waterproof seal is'). Even if I didn't, I have seen refrigerator storage. The question was specifically about comparing the surfaces of the pans for mixing watercolours, i.e., would they be like ceramic, or metal enamel, or plastic... thanks for trying. Good videos.
I own the professional gold line, and they are very vivid and bright. Best paints I own as a matter of fact! If you don't have any and ever think about getting them, I recommend it!
I never heard of the silver. If I upgrade to professional I think of buying me an M Graham landscape tube set to start though. Gonna be tricky to find in the eu but the amazing reviews on youtube kinda sold me.
These sets are HUGELY discounted on Amazon. I bought the 36 color set with a palette for $60 and retail is like $289 I think. They're wonderful quality.
can you talk a litle slower for the people of other countrys like me, who like your work very, very much ... but .. can't follow you because my english is not very good.
Closed captions , sorry I shouldn't have been so lazy and just spelled it out . Lol . It's where text in what ever language you speak shows at the bottom of your computer screen . It's about 95% accurate in most videos .
I am and have English as part of my degree but still find this talking speed incredibly fast. Very similar to Lisa Lachri. Both Lisa and Lindsey are so talented and helpful but the speed is crazy. My head is whirling and I have to stop watching. The idea of captions is great if it wasn’t for the fact most are automated and there are many mistakes and incorrections.
RUclips has. A feature where you can adjust the playback speed. The three stacked dots in the upper right corner of the video, when tapped, are the settings. You can adjust the video to play at a slower speed.

My Panda Paints oh my. Wasn't aware of that. Thank you for that info! -Marie
Thank you for scheduling all these awesome videos for us while you are on your holiday!
+Om yn ypi are welcome:)
These seem like very nice paints. And that is a great nail polish color for you - so sophisticated

+Judith Taylor I would get the mission gold set.
Thanks for the advice. I will be ordering the Mission Gold!
Where are you finding the palette set for this price?
I have the Gold set, have had them about six months or so, and love love love them!
Thankyou for sharing how to paint the feather it has given me some inspiration to have a go.
Lindsay, thank you for doing this comparison, for now I know I will ne happy with the Silver set.

One last thing I noticed is the browns are very limited I only got a Burnt Sienna and Red Brown, and Van Dyke Brown I wish for a Raw Umber
You might prefer getting browns from other brands. Davinci, m Graham and dan Smith make goos earth tones.

I love the way you talk, I actually answered you hahaha. You make me feel like I'm there with you. Love the feather
Wow awesome! I love your comparison and review videos! Did not know Mijello made student paints. Cool, I think I agree with you though, I would prefer to buy the Gold.
You should do a watercolor beginner course - like stamp school but for water colours!
Hi! Do you think you could do a review of winsor and newton cotman colors and explain their lightfastness and pros and cons? I know you have said others poo-poo them but I was interested in them
just had an aha moment. I think I'm trying to control where the paint goes to much and as a result in over compensating I'm too stiff. thanks Lindsay!
That was so nice of them! What a cool company!
Great comparison review video Lindsay! 😆
Yes, I am lusting for the Mission Gold...
Id love to see cotman vs the silver

I have been wondering how different these sets are since I first saw them-thanks for the comparison!!
Good review, thank you. The student grade ones look great! Perfect for crafters and for sketching etc!
This review is super helpful! I was considering getting some of these paints but I wasn't sure if they were worth their price.
These paints look amazing! Could you do a livestream with them? I would defenitly come watch. Thanks!
How does the Mission Gold Pans compare to the Mission Gold tubes (If I buy the tube set with the palette and just squeeze and let dry)? :) Sorry if I somehow missed it if you did say something in the video. >~
I bought the tubes. They perform very well for me.
The pans are just poured paint (not extruded) so should be exactly like you pointed your own.
If I didn't already own the gold class, I'd buy the silver class for sure! The silver class palette looks like a great palette to start with!
I was thinking about buying Sennelier artist watercolours. Any suggestions?!
definitely asking for the silver one as a birthday present!
I just found the mission gold 36 gold pure pigment with case for 75 on amazon. and that was with delivery to Canada. thanks Lindsay but my bank account doesn't. Lol😉😉😉
Thank you, great info. Now I want some of these. I love the pans.
Love the feathers! TFS 💜😄

don't feel bad as it is the same paint (pans are liquid filled) so paint and have fun and if you use up the tubes you can justify buying a pan set:)
Jellies!~
I love painting jellyfish. :D
Edit: Didn't realise this video was uploaded on my birthday until I checked the deecription at the end, August 13th. Thought that was cool to see. :)
Which one will you recommend for a beginner? Mijello Mission Silver or Winsor & Newton Cotman?
they are both beautiful sets- thank you for showing them to us :)
Love the manicure. The nail polish color looks great. Oh and the art info was also helpful. (wink!)
Great review Lindsay!
thank you for the review, where can i get that little watercolor sheets?
I love those jellyfish that you did!
wow your waterbrush seems so great what waterbrush did you use?
Thanks for another video! Have a great vacation (If you're still on vacation)
wow, mission has pans?, I prefer pans due to not great hands. getting the caps back on the tubes is too much work. I hope your vacation was nice.
Cannot wait for your distress vs gelatos video.
She already did that like a month ago with all kinds of watercolor gels sticks and watercolor crayons.
+aygo I meant with distress crayons. Sorry.
Thank you, I love your videos! Very helpfull

I would love to have an empty palette pan with empty pans like the Mission Gold Palette
Your nails look very nice by the way 😃
As always Lindsay, gr8 comparison.....TFS!
Great review! Thank you
Gold class
silver class
and pure pigment ?
3 varieties ?
You are so friggin' talented!!! I adore your vids, forget the haters :)
aww, thanks:)
The silver palette seems darker and the gold palette is kinda lighter. 😮
She said she used more water when she painted with the gold ones:)
+silver garcia Thanks but I wasn't referring to the drawings 😇.
is the 36 color palette artist quality?
+Emilie Brunet if it gold it is artist quality, silver is student quality and larger pans.
The proffesional line doesn't seem brighter, but warmer in tone or is that my eyes misleading me?
I own the professional gold line, and they are very vivid and bright. Best paints I own as a matter of fact! If you don't have any and ever think about getting them, I recommend it!
I never heard of the silver. If I upgrade to professional I think of buying me an M Graham landscape tube set to start though. Gonna be tricky to find in the eu but the amazing reviews on youtube kinda sold me.
Now all I need is for someone to sent me some primary color M Graham Tubes to try since I can't seem to find a store in my country who sells it :P
Do M Graham do free samples? Might be worth looking on their website. I know some acrylic paint manufacturers do them.
I contacted them to ask.
really nice....but whatever happened to "frugal"? .....lol
Buying a good quality, long lasting product *is* frugal. Frugal doesn't mean inexpensive.
These sets are HUGELY discounted on Amazon. I bought the 36 color set with a palette for $60 and retail is like $289 I think. They're wonderful quality.
Artist quality paint goes for $8+ these are like 2? 3? It's hella cheap.
Thanks for the review
How can you dislike the frugal crafter video come on peeps. If it's not your cup of tea don't watch it.
it takes all kinds LOL:)
@@thefrugalcrafter they're obviously not crafters lol x
Happy vacation! 👍🇺🇸💖
Whoever disliked this video get over and fight me
how often does YOUR name get miss pronounced of miss spelled. Chevron love this Gaelic name!
Right? those sets look like candy!!! and lindsay is awesome
I bought the mission gold
they are really nice:)
LAST YEAR I GOT ALL OF THE QOR ONES, I'M TRYING TO FIND SOMETHING TO REPLACE MY PELICANS I LOVE THEM SO MUCH BUT I CAN'T FIND THE PANS
We should pray for those who are jealous of you Lindsay
Lol. Yes, let's do a feather.
please make a giveaway of mijello water colours!!
can you talk a litle slower for the people of other countrys like me, who like your work very, very much ... but .. can't follow you because my english is not very good.
