HOW THE EGYPTIANS CROSSED THE CANAL

When the fourth Arab-Israeli war broke out on October 6th 1973, there were no foreign cameramen present to record the Egyptian crossing of the Suez Canal. But in 1974 the Egyptian Third Army staged a full-scale reconstruction and invited us to film it. They showed us how their new equipment, most of it Russian, had been used to smash through the Bar-Levline and get two infantry and two armoured divisions across the Canal within a matter of hours. Remarkable, historic footage, exclusive to WTN.

Important Clarifacation : This is a recreation done after the war ended. So it's not authentic footage, but helps show how weapons were used and defences were set up, but the soldiers in the movie aren't real ones which explains why they might look poorly trained. However Egyptian infantry were very well trained and able to withstand Israeli tanks as well.

      Nah.
As a Copt, I can confirm that during the time there were cameras and they actually filmed many details during the real war.
      These clips are just enhanced.
The soldiers are well trained, it's just that in old days there were no flexibility in the movement as nowadays, same as the difference between old and new techniques in trainings.
Most soldiers were between 20s and 30s, the grounds are harsh, and as you can see in the clips : the Earthen berm is there and they were climbing it holding the ladders so others can climb easily.

Congratulations to the Egyptian Army for its great military feat of crossing the Suez Canal on October 6th, 1973. This will rank as one of the greatest military accomplishments of all time. You defeated an army that was always considered invincible and avenged the defeat of 1967. You won glory for your country and then years later made a peace settlement with Israel. You are an inspiration to all armies around the world. You did what was considered impossible. Glory to Egypt and its great army. Israel lost because in their arrogance they underestimated you.

Great Military accomplishment. You made me laugh. 650,000 Egyptians and 2,200 Tank with Russian Anti air craft umbrella. against 432 Israeli soldiers and six tanks for 160 K'M. A really great victory, not talking about the Israeli success of crossing the Canal and stopping only 50 Miles from Cairo and after the Egyptians asked for a cease fire.

There were never an Arab-Israeli war. In 48 a sophisticated Israeli army (most of its members had fought in WW2) battled Palestinian villagers and few militia members from Egypt and won. In 67 they fought against Jordanian bedouins and an Egyptian army mostly made of illiterate conscripts, then, It took the Egyptians less than 6 years to build a professional army that gave the Israelis their first real fight without air superiority and forced them to give the Sinai back. Military Israel took a beating even though it managed to come out on the top with the direct help of the Americans. Politically and strategically they won because they were successful in neutralizing Egypt and Jordan with the Camp David accords.
