SO cute and clever. I love the multi-purpose pocket idea - (it could be cute little stationery or craft items, or handwritten messages, or cat treats...) and I love your non-traditional colour choices!
I just made an advent calendar using old food jars, I decorated them with ribbon, paper and fabric and placed them on a wooden triangle frame with shelves I made with old fence paling.
I love this project so much! Think of how a handmade advent calendar can become a tradition as well as an heirloom in so many families! Janelle, you knocked it out of the park with this one!
I love this. I've been thinking of making a new advent calendar to replace the one my grandma made. It's a little outdated for my kids. But a treat pocket style will definitely be a win.
It's so nice that you finally have a Christmas off working retail. I worked many retail Christmas holidays and it just becomes stressful and busy. Congratulations and thank you for this series :)
this is so cute! If I had children I would definitely make this for them - much better for the environment than the plastic trays of chocolates and also super customisable!
I don't know what it is about your craft projects, but each time I see a video of you doing something like this I feel the urge to try it out myself! And I don't even care for advent calendars! No other sewtuber has that effect on me :D Very excited for the next 11 days!
So cute! I made something similar last Christmas using a thrifted curtain- I made rows of pockets rather than individual ones. Lots of fun to open the chocolates or ideas for activities 😌
I LOVE this project! That it's not in traditional Christmas colours got me thinking that I could use this throughout the year to either 'reward' or surprise myself or my nephew. In addition to sweet treats, I'm thinking of adding notes or poems, reminders for self care, affirmations and that kind of thing for myself. Thank you so much for posting this project Janelle ♥ PS: Today, I am making bucket hats :-D
Hi Janelle 👋 I can’t even imagine how crazy working at Spotlight must be in the festive season, so glad you get to enjoy the season this year! My mum made me an advent calendar with pockets when I was little and I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my first so, SO going to make one of these for next Christmas! Xx Bex (VIC)
Today is a nice day with a surprise video. It's Sunny and not very cold. Having a coffe and watching your video. What more can i ask for? I'm waiting the rest full of wonderful ideas. Thank you so much.
Thanks Janelle for this video. It really has perked my day up from the doldrums! I've been meaning to make an advent calendar for a while now. Looking to your next videos. Cheers.
This is great! I've been looking to make something like this for my kid to put stuff in, but I wasn't quite sure how I was gonna do it. Yours is beautiful!
These videos are SUCH a lifesaver! I left everything last minute and this year has just snuck up on me so these are incredibly helpful. Thank you Janelle 💛
I love this and what do you think was waiting for me on a share-it table by the mailboxes where I live? 2 rods, one of them brand-new in the package. I thought I would have to buy something to hang it, but I don't. Instead of a dowel, I have a curtain rod with caps for the ends. I am so excited! I want to make the pocketed wall hanging, but put sewing supplies in each pocket and label them. =) =) =)
I made my advent calendar from 25 little handmade drawstring bags with the numbers embroidered on them, but I never know what to put inside! I don't want to put in candy every day, but I always get started too late and don't have time to think of original things...
Super cute! Thanks 😊 I really love it. I love the random number placing too! Tiny suggestion: For those wanting to make this today and can’t get to a shop for ink etc you could cut numbers out and appliqué them 😁 haha poor hubby misses out with you only placing ONE chocolate in each pocket.
You've inspired me so much to start creating my own clothes! I've printing out the pattern for the Perfect Dress and chose a beautiful maroon checkered pattern. I'm so excited to get started and I can't wait to see more of what you do! Also, congrats on selling out of the sewing kits! I was too late to snag one ;)
I’m really pleased that you’ve decided to do these videos. Thanks for taking the time to do it 😊
You’re welcome! I hope you love them 😊
SO cute and clever. I love the multi-purpose pocket idea - (it could be cute little stationery or craft items, or handwritten messages, or cat treats...) and I love your non-traditional colour choices!
Ditto on the entire comment :)
What an ingenious way of using leftover fabric and turning them into an adorable gift! Love it, thanks!

Shan Anders that’s such a great idea!!

I always look forward to Sunday mornings when your videos come out, so very excited for the next 12 days! 💕
this is so cute! If I had children I would definitely make this for them - much better for the environment than the plastic trays of chocolates and also super customisable!

This is a lovely idea Janelle, and I reckon would look great hanging in your/our sewing rooms as a decoration/handy pocket setup all year! 🎄

Is it really required to be good in drawings so that you can make clothes and dresses?
You've inspired me so much to start creating my own clothes! I've printing out the pattern for the Perfect Dress and chose a beautiful maroon checkered pattern.
