this my favorite scene so many memorable lines but i love when sophia begins laughing and everyone starts to stare...maybe its cuz she didnt sweep out the caboose?
I'm glad Harpo and Sophia got back together because his new girl was fake as hell on how she turned on him, She probably was scared now that Sophia was back home.
Nah, he wasn't cold. He was just desperate to hang onto some of his pride by putting Celie down. When he said that, it reminds me of a guy who hits on a girl -- like on a dating app or something -- and then turns around and insults her if she turns him down.
How in the hell Albert gon say that Celie is not that good of a cook?! Hell, at least she the one who served Shug Avery breakfast all burnt up and shit. And the hell does he mean that his house ain't been cleaned good since his 1st wife died? Hell, if he feels that way, then he oughta get off his lowdown dirty lazy azz and clean his gd house his gd self. Yeah, Karma is coming to whip Mister's azz!!
It did all right when Celie discovered what Albert did to Nettie via Shug when she was able to procure one of the letters that was hidden by him. It was that and Shug showing her kindness that helped Celie stand up for herself to confront him for his actions. Before she leaves, Celie curses Albert that unless he does the right thing and bring Nettie home, everything he does will go wrong. After she leaves with Shug, her husband and Squeaks for Tennessee, the curse took it's effect on him. Albert's fields languish into nothing, his animals run wild and spending most of his time at Harpo's Speakeasy. Eventually years of his maltreatment towards Celie finally catches up to him and realizes how horrible of a husband he's been to her. Feeling guilty for his actions, Albert decides to do the right thing, head down to immigration to pay for Nettie's trip home and reunite the sisters.
Good strong point!! That really makes sense to me. Celie been through alot and I was so happy she went away. Maybe the house falling house, no children, no Shug, no laughter, no life, and animals all over the place really taught Albert a lesson. And Btw, who is Squeaks?
Squeaks was a young lady who Harpo was seeing when he and Sofia separated briefly. Her real name is Mary Agnes and she became a choir singer after returning form Tennessee.
I kinda felt sorry for Albert in the end when Celie left, but that was some real shit how Albert took his money and got Celie's Sister and Children back home to her.

I don't get it
They take a 100 page book and turn it into a 3 hr movie and never mentioned Sug and Celie becoming lovers after she leaves Mister.
jred1975 they should probably remake because that part is so important. I think cuz it was the 80s they were just more conservative.

Wow I had no idea they were lovers. I've never taken the time to read the book
It's because the agenda was for them to discredit black men and let black women know that being a lesbian is what's best.
