I read a while back that Virginia did not have Geodes! I beg to differ!! In Orange County I found a beautiful one while digging a new garden and here is Spotsylvania (moved here in 2023) I found two small ones in my yard. Beautiful crystals inside. My land is a treasure trove of varied beauties and is never boring!🙂
I was searching this topic because I live in Orange County and I went on my first journey into our local creek bed to search for stuff but tbh I have no idea what's in our area and what to look for. I brought a chisel and everything. I brought two small rocks home as souvenirs of my first search. But I need to learn what to actually look for.
Tch tch. Spectacular football in Oz. Because of Coronavirus it's in Brisbane at night on Saturday. Two Victorian teams fortunately. Aussie Rules is a crazy sport.
Oh. My. Gosh! How the snow wasn’t melting from Noah’s cuteness at 9:07 is beyond me dude! What a little legend! Honestly! You found some beautiful creeks gems dude! Remember when you weren’t sure about how to hound a creek way back when? Well, there’s no need to worry now man. You’ve got your lake eyes and creek eyes locked and loaded brother. Brilliant coming along watching you do your thang in the creek. I even legit made “oooffft” sounds on a number of them purdies!
I re-watched this video today. Great timing. 1 year ago today. In the cities, we received 8-8.5" of snow on the October 20th storm last year. Who would have thought that was our largest snowfall of the year! This video has me thinking of headed up to Carlton County and chasing some grouse and maybe a few trout along with a couple of agates before November. Great job as always!
the kinda pink mica / lithium ? stuff looks like what we find with tourmaline in southern CA. ...I liked this one a lot it was good to see the forest and creek feel , I'm a creek guy I guess , thanks for showing me around ; )
I love how dogs get so happy in the snow! My dog zooms in it too. Noah's got the snow eating method down. Love that little boy babble. So incredibly cute! How fun that you found a good rockhounding creek. Thank you for a fun video.
Hi again TAYLOR I'm a bit late this vid but good to see you! Like the looks of that creek so hope you'll go back again. Some super larger pieces and I'm surely wondering what the green is. Great fun! Especially when you guess and don't know cause then we can research and find out. Thx as always for sharing. See ya next time...
Great looking rocks Taylor. Enjoyed the whole video! Finally warmed up here. Couple days in the single digits and snowing. Hope you get to go back to the creek.
That was an amazing Creek you found the stones were beautiful. I can’t believe it’s snowing wow looks like you had some amazing fun with your son I’m really good at making not creepy snowman😁👍🏻
Hi Taylor, nice to see you out and about and finding some nice pieces again. I'm sure the little fellow said amygdaloidal, amygdaloidal and a few botyroidals. Yer he has it down pat. 😂😂
Really enjoyed taking a walk in the creek; I didn't even get my feet wet! 🤣 At 10:10, (rock in the second picture at the end), I could just see a pendent made from that! Stunning! I'll leave the snow to you, Noah and Bentley. Love seeing the fun you had; they loved it!
Man!! I wish I had scouting results like that!! Beauty finds! That green rock could be green calcite.....or....could also be Apophyllite which is often found with Zeolites. I find a lot of it with the zeolites here in NS as a milky white/green. Whatever it is, it's very cool!!!
So cute! Thanks for the view and your boy is adorable! Seems your chalcedony is all banded :-) where as mine I find is mostly moss. I find lots of banded chert. First one I found I thought it was petrified wood ( that was just last August, so still a major rookie :-) I love watching your videos and wish you and family the very best!
I hate snow! I live in western wisconsin , about 30 miles east of st. paul...we got almost 8 inches of snow! :( Beautiful rocks!! That green one was cool!
The first piece you showed was definitely mica of some kind. I wonder if maybe there isn't a pegmatite nearby. The green one, does look like calcite (I saw those striations), but I have a hunch the green is organic. 5:00 nice find! Very nice! Aren't all these LSAs? Well, the agates anyway? Haha, my brother is 11yrs younger than I am, so I know that "toddler fell and bonked his lip on his tooth" look. Doesn't seem any worse for wear though! Lol! He's at that stage where you can't wait for him to talk. This only slightly precedes the phase where you wish he would stop... LOL! JK! But that's when you have to learn that kids are little tape recorders! The one naughty thing you say, they'll repeat at the absolute WORST time! LOL!!!
@@AgateDad As a Father of 7 sons ( all adults now) I remember and cherish the times when they were all little and so dependent on me for so many things , its wonderful to see you sharing these awesome moments in time with your little fellow. Now all I'm waiting for are Grandkids. Lol.
Getting to bottle some little memories is really special for me, I can't believe how fast time has flown by.. hes going to be a big man before I know it.. 😥
Nice seeing the video with no snow! I was hoping to get out and look another time or two but we got like 8 inches the other day. Well I started typing this before end of the video and looks like you must have shot this the same day we got our snow down in watertown mn. Monday? I think it was but sweet finds man!
Probably not mica, It looked to well put together and mica is one of the first minerals to weather off a rock in a stream environment due to its low hardness and prominant cleavage planes. Great agate find!
@@AgateDad Nope, its hard to tell what things are on weathered surfaces. The best way I can tell what things are is by breaking it and checking cleavage hardness luster and streak. I also am most familiar with intrusive igneous rocks.
You get so excited about the banding, but just what is the banding? I’m new to watching rock hounding so I am dumb when it comes to understanding. I do enjoy watching your videos.
Hey, Taylor, you should totally get to get a rock tumbler! These rocks you’re finding, especially the larger agates, would look absolutely insane when polished. I’ve had a tumbler for about two years, and my favorite rock to tumble is by far agate. With the bands on the ones you find, they would look crazy when tumbled
You sure do! I’ve been tumbling this solid geode, and so far it seems to be coming out really well. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an ugly polished rock 😂😂😂
Loved the video AD ,I love when you go to those creeks....its like you really have to get your hands dirty...Question for ya....Did you move to Duluth because it is perhaps the Agate capital of the world or was it just by chance that you ended up there.. Its just amazing that you end up in the one place that supports your hobby 110%. Loved that snowman by the way. Agate Son is getting so big I know you cant wait till he can really join you out there in them creeks, beaches and gravel roads.
Completely by chance! And I didn't get into the hobby until I moved here, someone recommended agate hunting, I went and found my first one and the rest is history!
Do you think the green mineral was fluorite? I found something similar up there that had that green crystal and the hardness and appearance lines up with fluorite.
Do you ever get phone calls from your wife saying "are you ever coming home" I lose track of time having to much fun out there. So cool, thanks for sharing.
Well you could start with Etsy like everyone else has done already... Believe me there is a HUGE market for Lake Superior Agates. I’d say you already have a inside track because of familiarity. Go For It!
Thanks for watching everyone, appreciate it! You're all amazing 😊
Check out last weeks video: ruclips.net/video/P7GKzQNc4us/видео.html
great new creek love the enthusiasm
Thanks!
If I pick up one rock, I have to look at them ALL and I know I can’t but that excitement!
NICE day and snowman
Amazing finds. Awesome video. Thanks for sharing your beautiful family with us. ♥️♥️♥️
Beautiful finds. First snow is the prettiest. Was at a pit the first snow north of Duluth Saturday. Was very beautiful. Didn't find anything.
Great video, couldn't stop laughing to the non-creepy snowman.
Haha I'm glad ☺
Beautiful creek and finds but snow kids, Noah and Bentley, were adorable!
They were LOVING it!
Not sure who had more fun outside on the snow! Glad you had fun and thanks for sharing! Stay warm!

cute youngun'. The weather must have changed on a dime! Great creek walk, it's one of my favorite things to do.
It was a few day difference actually, I just planned to show everything that day and then woke up with snow lol
Great video, nothing like a snowfall with baby & pooch!!! Wicked cute! Love it! Rocks were pretty cool too!
Thanks 😊
I want to go agate hunting with you it would seam super fun.🥰
A snow day!!!!!! Love your finds, especially the mystery green one, but I love the fun in the snow best!!
Snow days are the best!
Tayor I sure envy you. the creek is so beautiful
It really is!
Nice stuff Taylor and i yearn for snow. Thank you
Happy to take you with on our snow adventures ❄

Thanks for the walk. Don't forget to watch the Australian Rules Grand Final on the weekend.
Not sure what that is exactly..

I loved the rocks you found but the best part was you running through the snow and your little boy. Made me smile! Thanks Taylor! 😊💕

I so love your level of excitement with any find you have. I cant wait to be able to get back out there hunting again. Nice finds.

Keep it up!
Such a nice comment! Thank you!
Niceee! The hunt isn’t over until it’s over! Pretty snow. About 70 here today (northern VA). Looks like you had snow much fun indeed!

Beautiful rocks but the best part was Noah’s conversation with you. Priceless. Have a good weekend. Oh, do you have a rock tumbler.
We have talks like that all the time, like last night at 1am...i have no idea what he's saying but it weirdly makes sense to me lol
OK, nope, you have snow too. Guess I'll stay here.

Wow awesome, that green one might be some peridot or olivine.
Dark green onr or light green?

Good morning Taylor, it is snowing down here in southern Minnesota
P.S. Your little guy is so cute

The banding is layers of microcrystalline quartz that occur in stages during its formation 👍
