  • A subscriber recently asked to see some videos on some of my personal rifles. In previous videos I will link to below I have covered a few of my more expensive builds. In this video I am discussing the one I actually use daily when I am teaching. I believe in a "Less is more" approach to a patrol rifle.

Respect to you for running a regular rifle when teaching your courses. Many of these guntubers are teaching with the equivalent of race guns masquerading as duty guns, making it appear that their techniques are elite operator level when it’s really the gun doing most of the work.

Thank you but it's mostly because I am a poor. To be fair to the more shit hot guntoobers out there, a high end gun will only take you so far. Sooner or later you just need to put in the work.

Comps/brakes and adjustable gas blocks can be had for relatively cheap. But it looks like you haven’t even bothered to do that. I tend to gravitate to instructors who aren’t afraid to run regular duty style setups and let their skills and experience do the talking. It allows the students to witness firsthand performance standards that are actually attainable with their own issued setups.

The 12.5 is nice, much more MV over a 10.5. I run a DD MK18 myself

I think aero is great throw a really good barrel and bcg and rock it. Thank you for what you do brother

I agree. Ballistic Advantage (also owned by Aero Precision) is an excellent barrel company. Most of the accuracy of a rifle comes from the barrel.

The way aero receivers fit is amazing, alot of high end ar15s receivers rattle like maracas. Aero is a great company.

Thanks for the video. I rarely shoot but find your experience and some of the reviews as well very useful. I kinda prefer your take to those so-called 'professional editing' channels you mentioned as you are active-duty SWAT and those guys are ex-military usually, so not only is your take on things different, but also current. I also feel you are more genuine imho. Its educational to see that you are using a 'minimal' setup with just the eotech and light, do you use this on your Daniel Defense MK18 (which I gather might be your 'regular rifle')?; and what is your take on less experienced shooters like myself using lasers to help aiming, like do you think it is useful? Lastly, would you ever use a laser yourself in a SWAT situation, or would you avoid it as it telegraphs where you are to potential suspects? Anyways, I very much appreciate your content, even the stuff I do not understand so much due to my lack of experience, but I feel like I'm always learning something new and useful from a seasoned veteran.

My SWAT DD Mk18 has a 10.3" barrel instead if a 12.5" but it is otherwise identical to this rifle.
I think the uses of a visible laser are pretty limited. Being competent with a good red dot optic will serve you better in the long run. The red dot on your rifle is certainly easier to spot as opposed to a shaky dot. Obviously an IR laser unit is a must have when using night vision but my professional experience with that kind of set up is very limited. Most SWAT don't use night vision extensively.

I sits among the many totes of other tactical gear I have purchased over the years and no longer use. I still think it is a good design I just almost never used it in two point mode.

The rifle in this video is 1:7. Current training cartridge is Fiocchi 62 grain. Our current patrol duty cartridge is Hornady TAP 62 grain. This is a VERY common duty round.

I rather watch a one man show lol. I use to work as police officer I got some swat training and other bs. I have a Radical arms ar15 , sig romeo 5 red dot, same light as ours and it's great. I wear that gun out and it keeps coming for more..
