- Hi everyone, thank you for 23:13 of your time. In this video I'm testing Alienware 17 from 2014, also it's a laptop that I restored in my previous video, down below is the link from the video. The specs are i7 4910mq, GTX 880m 8GB GDDR5, 32GB RAM, 512GB mSATA primary SSD and 960GB secondary SSD.

That shows us how underated are these old laptops!!! I still have a hp pavilion 9000 DV with 2gb ram and centrino duo 2ghz speed and the olny thing i did is add a 240 gb kingston ssd and after a good cleaning is fine for movies web browsing and also playing league of legends with 40 fps at low settings. Thanks for the inspiration Andrew!!!
I managed to get a 19 inches old Alienware laptop, it’s in dire conditions, I’m waiting for a power supply to test it, wish me luck!

@@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew hi andrew. I have a laptop that wifi is commonly get trouble. Like it cant connect or have limited access (eventhough the wifi in my phone just work fine) i also did test the wifi on other laptop and its not limited access. Whats the issue here? Thanks

I agree yes alot PC break down more easily do to Companies Rushing PC be build most pick cheaper material buy bundle more of it to build a lot PC so when PC breaks they go buy new PC so find good Older/New PC that made Well or Buy one that is made Good with strong durability is bit hard find maybe make video best PC you have find that are made Tough parts to last life a time
Don't get me wrong they do have some PC built with Strong but not all parts that is why we have to rebuild finding best parts sometimes cheap part works but when we find Great part with Fair Price we take it

is still worth it in 2022 because its upgradeble GPU , and processor up to GTX 1080 mxm
The are the best alienware in my opinion
you can get the adelink rtx 4000 quadro or the p5000 which has 16gb vram LOL the rtx is about as fast as a 2070 super and pulls about 70 to 80 watts

I've been wrestling with my Alienware 1700 for more than 5 years. I finally realized it was the harddrive and not the operating system. And the power cord was a piece of crap. She's purring like a kitten now. I'm stoked about possibly putting Windows 11 on! That will be my next project. I really appreciate your work!

Andrew I have question is MacBook air 2012 with 4 GB ram enough for Fortnite one or two parties with friends no nolife gaming , I never use Mac before people say its sistem who works with 4 GB like windows with 8gb ? Programming is reason but can it run Fortnite ?
I'm not sure about fortnite and mac, but 4GB are enough to do a lot of job, mac is far more optimized than windows

I remember my mate had this exact laptop, he thought it was lightyears ahead of my PS4.
Infact he was such a dick about it he used to think his laptop was like alien technology way beyond what was possible on planet earth.

I have a question i just received a dell precision m4700 in a trade for a hp 2000 notebook the dell precision m4700 has a Intel core i7 cpu 15.6 1080p display and a 500gb hdd and a invida gpu and 22gb of ddr3 ram and windows 8.1 pro and it has Bluetooth and windows 8.1 pro i want to install a bluray drive and a 1tb ssd and windows 11 home do you know it this notebook will support a blu-ray drive and windows 11 home thanks and my dell precision m4700 has dual fans and backlight keyboard

Hello, I have this same model and suddenly the low performance, I don't know if the graphics card or the charger does not power enough or the version of the nvidia graphics but the games do not perform What do you recommend?
The lenovo is too thin for the required airflow to effectively cool the board without near frying it.

Hi bro, to windows 11 I used software's from Windows 10 and Windows 7. Particularly on Alienware even some stuff from Windows 7 still works fine

It's easy bro, you need windows 11 boot usb, you can download windows 11 for a free from microsoft website using media creation tool, then before boot you need to add 2 commands in registers, you have a lot tutorials on youtube about that. Btw I didn't make tutorial because I do restorations more, and there are other people who do guides, so I don't wana take views from then, I think this is fair

I'm having issues updating my geforce 860m drivers in my M17 R1....did you have to flash your bios or do anything special? Been running off of integrated graphics and got a great deal on this machine lol

my 2014 asus laptop with a gtx 950m can still do its job and play esports games at decent settings at 60fps while AAA having to lower but still playable
How were able to install newer drivers on the gpu ? Because nvidia has dropped support the Kepler line 2 years ago ar version 425....

Good video as always! Really love to see some of these laptops at least having a second chance for its life. While not as powerful as newer gaming laptops these days, at least this can still do some serious stuff and it still is very usable to this day!

Hi bro, many of the new laptops request using newer version of eGPU devices. If you go with something like EXP GDC than you need M.2 version, BUT I'm not sure it will work or not, because many laptops are listed as supported but in reality they are not fully, and many are listed as not supported but eGPU is working. Personally I have tested very few models from newer laptops and some are working some not

Hi bro, you mean 920m is not recognized? If yes, then check the bios, maybe the GPU is disabled there or maybe you have some option like power saving or something like quite option or something similar that is preventing to use 920m

I'm sorry but this comparison is in no way fair. Your comparing a gaming laptop (even if older) with a small form factor laptop with integrated graphics. They are not even meant for the same use case. That Lenovo can probably do browsing/movies/office stuff for 6 hours or more and that's the purpose of it. I doubt that Alienware lasts 1-2 hours on battery.
On the other hand, some more recent gaming laptops with a decent GPU can be bought for 500-600 dollars second-hand. For exemple I sold my old Helios 300 with an i7 8750H, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD and a GTX 1060 laptop last year for about 600$.
I mean it's a nice restoration and I like your videos but I wouldn't buy this Alienware unless I like collecting old stuff or I got so much money I wouldn't know what to do with them.
