    ### Politicians' Push for Speed Limiters: A Dangerous Disconnect
In a glaring example of misguided policymaking, politicians are pushing for the implementation of speed limiters on cars and semi-trucks. This proposal, while ostensibly aimed at enhancing road safety, reveals a profound disconnect from the realities of driving and logistics-an area in which most lawmakers have little to no experience.
Speed limiters would impose a rigid cap on the maximum speed of vehicles, ignoring the diverse and dynamic nature of our roads. Speed limits range from 30 miles per hour in residential areas to 75 miles per hour on highways, necessitating adaptive driving. By stripping away drivers’ ability to adjust their speed based on current conditions, these regulations could actually create more hazards than they prevent.
The impact on semi-trucks would be particularly severe. These vehicles are the backbone of our economy, delivering life-saving products, medicines, food, and equipment that our society relies on daily. Politicians pushing for these restrictions seem blissfully unaware of the practical challenges faced by truck drivers. They’ve never sat behind the wheel of a semi-truck, navigating tight schedules and long distances, balancing safety with efficiency. They’ve never experienced the pressures of delivering essential goods on time, often in unpredictable traffic conditions.
Speed limiters would extend transit times, increase congestion, and exacerbate frustrations for truck drivers and other road users. The gap in speed between regulated trucks and unregulated vehicles would lead to dangerous overtaking maneuvers, ironically increasing the risk of accidents. This isn’t a step toward safer roads; it’s a recipe for logistical nightmares and heightened danger.
Politicians fail to grasp that driving is an adaptive activity. Modern vehicles are equipped with advanced safety features-adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance systems, and speed limit recognition-that enhance driver capability without taking away control. Rather than imposing arbitrary speed caps, lawmakers should focus on enforcing existing speed limits through better signage, stricter enforcement, and public awareness campaigns.
This push for speed limiters exemplifies a broader issue: regulations crafted by those who lack firsthand experience and understanding of the sectors they’re trying to govern. The well-being of our logistics industry, and by extension, our entire society, hinges on policies informed by real-world insights and expertise.
In conclusion, the call for speed limiters is not just misguided; it’s a stark reminder of the dangers of detached policymaking. Our roads require nuanced speed management that respects the adaptive nature of driving. Rather than imposing one-size-fits-all restrictions, we must empower drivers with the tools and knowledge to navigate safely and efficiently. It’s time for politicians to step out of their echo chambers and engage with the realities of the industries they seek to regulate, for the sake of safety, efficiency, and common sense.

Speed differental kills... speed limiters kill.
The less control we have of our equipment, the less we can compensate for the least prepared operator of a motor vehicle.

Those guards will come back but it’s too much to do right now. If you’ve ever done dry van or reefer work you’d know many docks aren’t capable of accommodating those guards. Even the skirts get ripped off on many docks. So to mandate it means countless shippers and receivers will never get their freight taken care of. Or they’d have to mandate all warehouses accommodate for it. Next in line are roads, many roads rip skirts off and if you have a metal guard you’ll get stuck so you’re talking billions in road engineering.

🚘I live in California, so I have to think about leaving soon. Of course, no one will remain in California, and it will become an abandoned state, except for those who make the laws, and they will be miserable by applying the law to themselves.🛑

The guard is nothing new, before they put the panels, that guard they had when they first started this so cars can't go underneath the trailer , Everybody thought the panels was for fuel mileage I kept telling them it's not for fuel mileage

I think it’s about time for me to move my family out of California. I have a clean MVR 15 years driving I do not want to have tech controlling my truck. I’m old school I guess. Hell I float my gears just to save the life span of my clutch in the truck.
California is big brother all the way.
Thx Alex for what you do keep up the good work. ;)

This is why I don’t haul into California. If small trucking companies hell if all trucking companies quit hauling into the state they would make a statement. They need the trucking industry for a lot of different reasons money being the BIG ONE. Y’all keep putting your head in the sand and complaining with a state that wants to control you. You will be driving all electric trucks there before too long if we don’t fight back. And New Mexico follows California on most of this crap.
