Love the videos Wayne! I’m trying to improve my Indonesian and listening to simple conversation can really help. Really enjoy seeing the interactions with people it’s awesome.
Hi Thomas. Good luck with the Indonesian language, it's a lot of fun stumbling around out there and the locals really appreciate the effort, I think. Thanks for stopping by, Thomas.
Your Indo conversation is coming along in leaps and bounds, your accent (logat) is increasingly better. You must be putting a bit of effort into it because your progress has been very fast. Quite enjoying the conversations you having with the locals. Cheers.
Very generous as always, Ian. I think just trying to speak it every day helps. Remembering words seems to use a different mechanism in the brain to speaking the language so you could possibly have a huge library of words to call on but dragging them out and using them seems to be a whole different skillset or ability. Regardless, it's fun. Thanks, Ian
Just came across your channel tonight and love it ❤ Its great how you speak Balinese to them and also adding subtitles for us people who like to learn their language. Good job mate , enjoy 🙏
Just another word of encouragement; I watch a lot of travel vlogs for destination inspiration, your vids are really unique, I can't think of any other Bali vloggers that elicit such warm friendly personal interaction with locals, not even from the local Balinese vloggers. You've got a real "Costa Georgiadis" type calm inspiring vibe going. I said hi to the passport this morning and warned the boss I'm going walkabout in a while. Thinking trekking Cambodia and surrounding countries for a few weeks again, but slower this time and try your "stop to talk to the locals" lark. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hey dk, thanks for the encouragement, to be compared in any way with Costa is pretty darn good - thanks. It's a feeling that never gets old pulling out the passport from its hiding place when that itch needs to be scratched, I'm excited for you. If you're ever this way give me a shout. Thanks again.
Hey Silver. It continues to surprise me how many people are just so happy to stop everything they're doing and talk. Thanks for the kind words, Cheers.
Enjoying your clips . In Bali at the moment and trying to speak limited bahasa to locals is getting mixed reactions but always in good fun. Keep up the good vibes.
Wayne I’m guessing you were a fan of Andrew Urban’s Front Up on SBS years ago? Very similar style of videos and I love it. It’s been a pleasure watching your videos over the past few weeks. Loved seeing the dog running up to you in yesterday’s video,…a sign of the locals getting to know you. 😊Keep up the good work.
Hi cb. A few people have now mentioned Andrew Urban and I feel left out not being familiar with him - I'll have to have a look for him now. Your compliment is very generous chaos, thanks a lot - I appreciate it.
Chaos thank you, I have wondering for years what the name of that show was....Front Up. I loved that show and couldn't understand why no more were ever made. That's why I too love Wayne's Videos, yes very similar style. Great to watch!
Hi Wayne I returned home to Melbourne today after 2 weeks in Bali I also found the weather extremely hot and at times just to hot to venture out and about I went for Balianese GrandDaughter's Graduation " Bachelor of Pharmacy" Fantastic Cermenory and Family gathering in the Village It rained a few times while I was there . However like you just too hot 'Old Age" I realy enjoy your morning strolls ..
Hi Colleen, congratulations on your grand daughter's graduation - good work! I hope you're not suffering too much with being home and ready to plan the next trip back. yes, it has seemed a little warm - old age doesn't come alone it seems. Thanks for saying hello.
Nice one, Wayne! I am a bit of a lingo observer; a keen ear for sounds. It's quite amazing that the cadence and pronunciation of Bahasa Indonesia is very close to Tagalog! 🎉
Hi Sudden. Is that right? I don't have any idea about Tagalong at all but I'd imagine there'd have to be some language similarities throughout the region. Thanks, sudden.
@@fiascodagama1also Bisaya, the southern half of Philippines, have stronger Malay roots, about 20% of the language vs 10-15% of Tagalog, the northern national language. The tribal languages in the far south are about 50% Malay origin, only a bit less than Bahasa.
lol, I laugh, it’s good you told how the Ubi is for you! Saya tidak suka! The closest translation I can find is “kunyah taktik biru” like “chewing blutak”… Yes the Bali people are certainly so willing to give of themselves… Maybe the culture of sharing is of their first nature? Well done Wayne…. I look forward to your vlogs 🙏
Many locals have taken big advantage on the incredibile ascent of Bali in the last 30 years and the monetary richness that came with it. So there is a lot of money going into beeing grateful to the many gods beeing worshipped. Past donations seem to have worked out so the beliefs are strong.
You're a pretty astute observerI think, pm. Would there be a more prosperous island economy to rise in the last 30 years? Maybe not. And as you say if that success is attributed to Gods unseen there can be nothing but further fueling of the belief system. Cheers.
Hi Herc. What site do you use for Bali? I can never find a website that gets it right, like almost never. it's like they all take average forecasts from the last ten years or something and paste it. I'm probably wrong but I can't find a reliable place to find weather information for here.

You bravery to talk to people and practise your Bahasa is really creating magic.🎉

Hi Richard. Keep giving it a go, it gets easier every day, or at least you feel a little less self conscious. Thanks for everything, Richard.
So enjoy watching your walks around town

When I was editing this late morning your Caribbean chicken roosting story did come to mind, bf. :)

Queensland is really heating up also ,mid 40s in some areas ,at least Bali is away from the cyclones. Great work
Hi Phil. Cheers. i've got a good friend in Queensland who says it's pretty uncomfortable for this time of the year in some parts. Good to see you.
friends have you watched the movie entitled Eat Pray Love The background is in Bali
Hi Mitoma. Eat Pray Love was a very popular film which caused many new people to discover Ubud, I think. Thanks for saying hello, mMtoma.
Chick flick.

Have a great day 😀
Looking forward to the wet season starting in earnest that's for sure, Aly. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling it. Cheers :)

@ I think it is the Weather app. Just Weather. It features the local (Kabupaten Badung) area as one of its reporting stations.
@@herculesrockefeller1683 Excellent. Thanks for the heads up, herc.
@ To be precise, it is an app in the App Store for Apple. I don’t know what it would be or where to find it on Androids.
